Hotel Shiosai

The hotel is right on Katase Beach, and being able to pull back the curtains to a direct ocean view was the biggest draw. The location is super convenient, just a 10-minute walk from Katase Station, and you can even walk to Enoshima. There are all sorts of restaurants nearby—Japanese, Italian, you name it—and a convenience store is just a 2 or 3-minute walk away. We booked an ocean view room; it was very spacious, though the furniture was a bit dated. Every morning, the hotel provides a complimentary breakfast with freshly baked bread, juice, eggs, corn juice, and self-serve coffee and tea. You can even take your breakfast plate out to the terrace and enjoy it with an ocean view, which was lovely. Overall, it's a great value-for-money option.

This hotel is very close to Kamakura. The room's window overlooks the beach and the ocean, offering beautiful scenery and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. We had a double room which was quite spacious, and the mattress was a comfortable tatami-style directly on the floor. Their breakfast also offered a rich variety of options.

The environment is great, and communication in English is possible.

Traveled with two kids and booked two ocean-facing rooms. Iced water and coffee are available downstairs. We checked in a bit late, so we dropped off our bags first before heading out to explore. There's a Yoshinoya on the way to Koshigoe Station, and a very affordable supermarket and drugstore near Enoshima Station.

The beach is right on your doorstep, and it's also close to the station. Very convenient!

The room was absolutely tiny, maybe only 3 square meters. There wasn't even enough space to properly open my luggage. This has to be the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in – I was truly taken aback by how incredibly compact it was. To make matters worse, it was located in the basement, which made it feel stuffy and humid. While the air conditioning offered a bit of relief, it certainly didn't make the room comfortable.
