We have just returned from a fantastic stay in the Highfield hotel. Our room a junior suit was amazing. I especially loved the roll top bath in the bedroom part . The bed was so comfortable and the pillows I just wanted to take those home . Loved all the little touches . Fab bath robes and the raid the larder part is great I felt like a naughty child stealing sweets . All the staff were fantastic especially Georgia who sorted things for me to store my insulin. The owners Stan and Phyllis well what can I say . Such lovely lovely people on a first name basis . They also welcomed me into their private quarters so that I could store my insulin safely just had to knock and let myself in . If I'm going to be picky and it is being picky but it would have been nice for our mugs in the bedroom to have been washed daily instead of being left to get stained . I had nothing to wash them out with only fingers and water . The other thing was the breakfast. The cooked menu fantastic but for someone like myself who prefers continental there was no choice just 2 cereals except for this morning (Saturday) where there was 1 extra which I had . I had to ask for jam and the toast was more like warm bread hardly toasted which wasn't nice . We didn't eat here only because I'm such a fussy eater but I am thinking of trying it next time .We are already planning another stay in august though as I loved it so much . Going to see what deals they can do . Highly recommend this hotel

House has history, is quirky and adorned with beautiful things, and set in lovely gardens you just need to walk in. Staff friendly and very helpful. Charlotte took us in her own car into town when raining and no taxi available. Our room was quite small but beautifully designed. It was all we needed as mostly out, also we were on a tight budget and thought it very fairly priced. Got a bit hot in the night even though heating off. Bed was super comfy!! Lots of beautiful rooms and suits to choose from depending on your own budget. We were checked in early which was nice. A small cleaning problem in toilet was quickly rectified. Breakfast was ok. No fresh fruit or pastries, but cooked choice very good with excellent poached eggs! Sausage was tough though. Sounds very negative, but just being honest. Nothing would stop us returning though! Hopefully very soon. Thank you to all staff.

Dont go its a lottery wether you get your food or not, infact add bread and drinks to that, Parking is a disgrace if its a damp night you will get muddy feet getting from the car park to the hotel entrance i We waited 30 mins for our starter and over an hour for our main course,we had to ask twice for our bread, and twice for our drinks to be brought to the table. The staff were cheerful but there was no one in charge, hence all the waiting. When the food came it was very average and not very warm, we decided against a dessert in case we had another long wait.We pointed all these points out to the lady at reception, she said i will knock of the service charge of the bill. She didnt seem interested, I think we are owed an apology for a ruined valentines night. I await a responce michael

We booked a Christmas Afternoon Tea in June (for December 2023) for a group of friends - to include turkey and cranberry sandwiches, mince pies, Christmas cake, etc. Unfortunately none of these were served - and no festive atmosphere bar a Christmas tree. The price quoted in June was then increased by a service charge AND a surcharge for the number of guests being greater than six!!! - none of which we were made aware of. Perhaps we caught the staff and venue on a bad day. We were all extremely disappointed.
