The hotel is located in a mountain. It is a paradise. The air is very fresh and it is very suitable for vacation. The hotel's catering is also great, and having afternoon tea in the garden is very enjoyable!

We really enjoyed our nights stay here with our dog. The staff were really lovely, the place itself and the grounds were stunning, our room was fab and our massages with Lisa were amazing! She is incredible. The only slight complaint was waiting 40 minutes for our afternoon tea, when we were the only people there, which was a bit weird, but the few staff that were there, were very apologetic and sweet about it, Especially Lisa.

I had afternoon tea booked here last week for my birthday. The sandwiches were moist, with a good amount of filling and tasty. Scones, fruit and plain were over baked and very crunchy. We eat the small deserts in glasses and decided to take the rest home. Cakes were Halloween themed. We were only given one teaspoon between 2 of us, for 2 different hot drinks and 2 deserts in glasses We ended up using the jam spoon, which we had used for the jams and cream The milk jug had the remnants of gravy around the top. Which we only noticed towards the end of the afternoon tea There were tables where afternoon tea had taken place. These tables where cleared but the cloth serviettes were left on the tables or chairs. It would have been nice to view the garden as these tables where empty. Attention to detail was definitely lacking and not worth the journey or the price. Grounds are beautiful.

Our 2nd visit to this beautiful hotel set wonderful grounds. This time we booked the Arnold Mitchell room with dinner and breakfast. The room was lovely, the stand alone bath in the bedroom was lovely, we purchased bubble bath on the way and soaked away with a drink. Would definitely return, the only trouble is we have spoilt ourselves with the posh room so would have to try one of the others! Staff excellent as well as the food.

Lovely stay but needs improving. We booked a night at the hotel to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived, we had afternoon in the library (without any books or any reference to it being a library). The afternoon tea was lovely but not anything to write home about! We have had countless afternoon teas and this was the first time we had tea from a tea bag, normally it is loose tea leafs. The sandwiches were not replenished and there was one 1 small sharing ramekin of cream and jam between 2! We ordered gin and tonics in the bar and they had run out of plain gin due to a wedding at the weekend. Well ok I get it but there are other guests in the hotel and alcohol should be restocked! We were so looking forward to our evening meal in an award winning restaurant. This was so disappointing and further research into the award winning restaurant goes back to 2019/2020 when the chef did win an award, but he has subsequently left and the food is not award winning.y husband order a prawn cocktail to start and it was well ......a deconstructed prawn cocktail with very little sauce. My duck starter was lovely but our mains were less than appetising. I ordered lamb and well for £38.00 I could have bought a leg of lamb. I had 2 micro pieces of lamb which were as tough as old boots. My husband ordered steak medium rare and it was somewhat well done. I would say that the food was expensive pub grub not an award winning experience. The hotel is lovely but if you want to experience the food I would advise that you book a restaurant elsewhere

I stayed here from September 23 to March 24 (whilst working away at the local Hospital) for 3 nights per week unless there was a corporate event. There is no doubt about it the Hotel and its grounds are absolutely stunning. I have mixed reviews about the management of the Hotel especially since January when I had to be moved a few times as my normal room having varying issues eg no hot water, not cleaned properly etc... I did notice after a recent corporate event which meant they took the entirety of the Hotel for the week, how everything looked different. All minor works seen to, Hotel impeccably clean and grounds manicured to perfection. The reason I did not look for another Hotel during my stay is undoubtedly the staff working there. They were absolutely impeccable and made me feel a very valued customer during my stay. A very special mention to Sophie, Diva, Chi, Rokas and Saurau. Any Hotel would be very proud to have them working there. Their professionalism and customer service - always with a smile was something not to forget.

The building is fantastic - Grade II* with the most fabulous ceilngs and a stair that quite takes the breath away, and, even in March, terraces outside that give more than a hint of the fabulous when all is in blossom. But my daughter and I went in search of a 'proper traditional' Easter Day lunch in a Grand Hotel, and in that we were not disappointed. Barnett is the latest in our personal Grand Hotel series and is a winner so far, Shiny clean, with comfortable furniture and decor that struck a sensible balance beteen modern, comfortable, and the traditional and a pretty impressive oak panelled Dining Room. The lunch staff had, unlike an earlier hotel, clearly been trained - a desirable change in table setting to accomodate a slight idiosyncracy of my daughter was spotted and immediately executed. While a pretty large prebooked family party was accommodated in the Drawing Room next door without affecting the service in our dining room. Roast Lamb on the menu - what else for Easter Day? - a wee bit tough [ but, yes, they did remember the Mint sauce] and Roast Potatoes that were a little tired, but the starters and puds were beyond criticism. The bar lightly stocked [ no Tio Pepe sherry and no GranMarnier, but acceptable alternatives were suggested without prodding, which suggests the staff knew what I was asking for. Not cheap, but not unexpectedly expensive the basic Easter Day menu £45. The hotel is strangely unknown in the locality - even my "Lunching Advisor" - 30 years largely at the top end of the Hospitality Industry, was not really aware of it. Which might explain why the bar was not properly open until 12:00 or so and the dining room only half full ? Yes, we will be back; maybe next time to try the Afternoon Tea on the Terrace

The hotel is STUNNING and immaculate inside and out. The rooms are beautiful and so comfortable - such a lovely break! We also had massages and my therapist Zoe was fantastic, the day after the treatment I woke up without a backache for the first time in months - she is amazing!

My best friend book his hotel to celebrate my milestone birthday. Along with the, lovely accommodation, dinner, bubbly and spa treatments. Everything has been wonderful. I don’t write many reviews but felt that I had to write this one. I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 25 years, running my own salon and lecturing beauty students. In all those years I’ve never had a facial treatment as good as the one I’ve just received from Zoe. She is a credit to the industry and an asset to the hotel. Highly recommended. Thank you Zoe.
