Gora Hanaougi Madoka No Mori

Highly recommended!!! The food is great, the private bath in the room is great, and the public bath is not crowded, so you can basically enjoy it all to yourself. The scenery outside is beautiful, and there is a shuttle bus to Gora Station. There is a sculpture forest nearby, which is worth a visit

This is the first time I visited a ryokan with a quiet atmosphere. I made a reservation 5 months in advance because it seems like it's hard to get a reservation. Arrive by car from Gora Station, which takes about 10 minutes up the hill. First of all, I went to the open-air bath at the bottom of the stairs instead of the open-air bath in my room. I took a soak in the slightly warm open-air bath, and after the bath, I enjoyed a beer in the refrigerator in my room. I liked that the food was varied and didn't look like typical ryokan cuisine. Of course, it looks and tastes great. After dinner, we went to the bar, which is also recommended for its calm interior and impressive counter made of thick logs. The only negative point was that the open-air bath in the room was a little small for me, but nothing else to say!

We visited as a family of four with a one-year-old who had just learned to walk on his own and a two-year-old who loves to eat. We were looking for a place where we could stay with our children with peace of mind, where breakfast and dinner were served in the room, and where the room had an open-air bath, and we chose this place after considering about 30 places. However, after actually visiting, we regretted choosing this place, so we will post what we experienced. Cockroaches during in-room dining In the latter half of dinner in the room, the waitress came in with a male employee and said, "There are bugs," and the man had paper in his hand and insecticide in his other hand. While the couple was staring blankly in the middle of the meal, the man suddenly banged his hand on the wall and what escaped from his hand was definitely a cockroach. He quickly caught it with his hand and left the room with a smile as if nothing had happened... Although it is inevitable when dealing with food, it was extremely unpleasant to have a cockroach appear during a meal. After that, there was no offer to change rooms (it may have been full), and there was no apology after the meal. I have a child who is still crawling and puts things on the floor in his mouth, so I felt very uncomfortable and worried about spending the night and the next day in the same room. ・They don't respond to requests for child support in advance Although it is difficult to ask for a meal for a one-year-old child, I wanted to feed my two-year-old a proper meal, so I reserved a meal for three-year-olds and up listed on the website (it says that it can be ordered even if you are not three years old). However, I was concerned about the seasoning, so I emailed them in advance and asked them to make it as light as possible and to serve anything that can be served separately, such as sauce, separately, and I made the same request to the waitress after arriving at the inn on the day. I regret not checking beforehand, thinking that it would be okay because I asked twice, but my child cried after taking a sip of miso soup and said, "It's salty...". He drank it thinking it was normal, but he was surprised at how strong the taste was and cried. (He usually goes to nursery school, so it's not like he can only eat light-tasting food.) There was also a bone in the fish in the chawanmushi. I asked the waitress, "Does it contain fish? I'm worried about the bones," and she replied, "It does contain fish, but the bones have been removed, so please feel free to eat it." In fact, there were at least five bones in it. The other dishes were seasoned enough that even adults would find it delicious, and it was hard to believe that we had specifically requested a light flavor. After dinner, we asked again for breakfast to be lightly seasoned, but the child only ate about 1/3 of the food both in the morning and at night. I really felt sorry for the child, who had been happy to tell us in advance that "It's a treat at the inn!" - They didn't ask when to lay out the child's futon, and they didn't lay it out for us. Although we had booked bedding for our two-year-old child, they didn't ask us in advance when to lay out the futon, and he fell asleep during the meal in the room, so we laid out the futon ourselves. Despite the above, when we checked out, we were presented with the amount for the regular service, even though we had made the reservation. We told them that we had doubts about paying the full amount in light of what had happened. The person in charge left the room, and the person in charge of reservations came and said that they would not charge us for the child's fee alone. I wonder if the person in charge was aware of the cockroach and the fact that they did not comply with my child's request until I raised my voice. I thought that since we were unable to enjoy delicious food, feel safe and comfortable in the room, and sleep, which are the bare minimum for a stay, we should have received a reasonable refund for everyone except for the child, but unfortunately, it seems the inn thought differently. The bill for two adults was about 130,000 yen (excluding the cost of additional alcohol). For all of the above, I feel that this inn is not worth the price. I will never use this inn again.

This is an inn where you can stay with your children without worry! Parents can enjoy it too! I had a 2-year-old child who was in the terrible twos with me. It was my first time staying at a luxury hot spring inn with my child, so I was worried about the following: -Is it really OK to bring children? (There are many restaurants that say it's OK but in reality it's not.) -Will my child be noisy and disturb us when we eat at the restaurant? Etc. We stayed on a weekday in December. It was a popular inn, and we were able to reserve a room that happened to be available! There were a few great points for families with children, so I'll list them here. -Lots of towels in the room! When you stay at a hot spring inn, there is usually one bath towel and one face towel, but I'm not sure if they provided extra ones because we had a child, but they provided 2-3 of each. -There was a diaper trash can in the bathroom of the room. I only told them that I was staying with a 2-year-old, so I was grateful that they provided one.・Free orange juice in the room ・Room wear for a 2-year-old (90cm) 　In-room wear for small children (yukata) was provided and was very cute! ・You can enjoy your meal while relaxing! 　The private dining room is really a single room, so we didn't have to worry about the noise around us. The heated floor is also great! 　Also, in the private dining room, the neighbors were with their children, so we felt safe. 　It seems that the arrangement of private rooms for adults only and those with children was well thought out. 　At breakfast, my child still looked sleepy, so I tried to put him to bed on the tatami mat, but a staff member who saw this brought us a cushion. Their consideration was very helpful. ・Open-air bath in the room 　The open-air bath is a free-flowing bath, so we could easily take a bath at night when the child went to sleep or when we woke up a little early. ・Open-air bath 　There was a lukewarm open-air bath, and it was the first time for my child, who hates baths, but it was comfortable and he seemed to enjoy it. If we stay in Hakone again, we would definitely like to visit.

This time, too, I was able to experience the most extraordinary experience. The hostability was also very high, and I think it was due to the efforts of all the employees. I was very grateful to Mr. Oike, who served us the meals. The timing of the meals was perfect, not too early or too late. He answered my poor conversation well, and I was able to enjoy both dinner and breakfast. I would also like to thank Mr. Oguchi at the front desk, who took me to Gora without any complaints despite being busy. The cleaning and amenities were also sufficient. There was no fogging on the windows at all. I like Hakone and have stayed at several inns, but this is the best. I would also like to thank the man at the front desk who carried my heavy luggage up the stairs to the car. There were many relatively young people, but everyone was reliable and seemed to enjoy working, which I envied at the age of 60. I will visit again, so I look forward to seeing you again.
