"The location of the hotel is very convenient, with the bus stop right outside. There are two young ladies at the front desk who can speak Chinese and help us a lot. They are very enthusiastic and never tire of answering our questions. Thank you very much! When I returned to Tokyo from Hakone with my children, the young lady recommended that we take the bus, which was right outside the door, which was very convenient. I like this hotel very much, thanks to the beautiful young ladies at the front desk!"
"During the epidemic, I missed the beautiful scenery and blue sky of Hakone so much. I had been thinking about the hotel for three years, and finally booked a room three months in advance before the National Day trip.
The hotel is rated 5 points because there is no 10-point option. The hotel environment and services completely exceeded expectations, and it was worth the price. I experienced the thoughtfulness and perfection of Japanese service.
There are mostly European and American guests in the hotel, and there is no barrier to English communication with the staff. It is a 3-minute walk from Gora Station, and within a 5-minute walk from the hotel, you can reach Gora Park and the Sculpture No Mori Museum of Art. But contact the hotel in advance, and the hotel will thoughtfully arrange a pick-up and drop-off.
The hotel environment is impeccable and the design is full of design. It is worthy of being the work of a master, and it looks great every time you take a photo. The kaiseki dinner was just average, not particularly amazing. The only drawback is that the room we stayed in was on the first floor and there was a bit of an unpleasant smell from the shower drain at night."
"The location is not difficult to find, ten minutes walk south from Yumoto Station. The room is also very good. In fact, seven or eight people can live.
The downside is that there is no Chinese service. And there are two rooms, but the booking does not tell you which one is.
And the unlock password given by the SMS after booking and the in-site message are wrong. But I can't get through the customer service phone of the hotel.
Fortunately, Trip customer service dug out the correct password in the middle of the night, otherwise it would be sleeping on the street.
The house is fine, the service is completely absent."

"Accommodation and meals were excellent. Quaint accommodation, onsen, meals were all great. Staff were very friendly, heard it is a historic accommodation but it is well preserved and a very nice place in many ways."
"Great experience! From the receptionist in the parking lot to the front desk and lounge are first class
As soon as I entered the wooden house, I smelled a faint woody fragrance, and my whole person suddenly relaxed a lot.
You have to take off your shoes when you enter the hotel, and the front desk will take care of them, so you directly step on the tatami with your feet, soft and comfortable.
The room is very large, there are three doors from the main door of the room to the position of the bed, so the room is very quiet.
The bed is very large, moderately soft and hard.
There is free water, beer and juice in the small refrigerator.
The electric kettle has hot water that has already been heated, and there is also a pot of room temperature water to drink next to it
The room is heated and air-conditioned at the same time
In addition to shampoo and other products, there are also toners, makeup lotions, and lotions that can be used. There are also hair loops for long hair. The whole arrangement is very careful.
The view of the room is first-rate, and soaking in a daze in the open-air hot spring is a first-class enjoyment.
Dinner and breakfast are in the restaurant on the second floor. Arrange a time with the waiter to go to the first floor and they will show you where to eat. Dining is in a semi-private room with tatami mats, and no other guests will be seen. The waiter for both meals is the same person, needless to say, polite, with a bright smile, very hard to explain the dishes in simple English.
It is suitable for people who like to be quiet, slow, and [not to see people]!"
"We loved our experience is this hotel! We had such a lovely evening with our friends an and enjoyed the sunset over the lake- what a perfect ending to the day. We booked the best rooms (kind of by accident but so happy we did that). They’re the top floor rooms with the balconies. Worth it! The breakfast was also truly fantastic- lots of variety and excellent quality choices, including fresh delicious fruit. The onsen was also a delight."
"We enjoyed our stay at the hotel with friends in late Nov for 3 nights. Reckoned we were upgraded to a Japanese room facing Mt. Fuji.. just a shame it wasn't snow capped. The room slightly dated but comes with all the amenities. The buffet breakfast & dinner were good & quality, quite a spread as well. The Onsen with an outdoor section was good as well."
"The hotel is just around the corner from the mountain train station. The environment is very good and the facilities are complete. Toiletries and lotions are provided. You can check in directly with just a change of clothes. I left my luggage at the Tokyo Hotel. The Kaiseki dinner was of good quality. If you are not used to Kaiseki, you can get off at the previous stop, Mori no Bijutsu. There is Lawson opposite. Buy some snacks, instant noodles and cook in the microwave!"
"It has wonderful location, next to the port and ropeway. The view is stunning. And onsen is so beautiful, clean and nice. Amenities are good.
The dinner and breakfast are buffet style. It was tasty but I would say it is more european than japanese if it is important for you."
"Japanese-style hotel, small and exquisite, with meticulous service. Breakfast and dinner are quite attentive, rich, and taste OK. The hot spring is very comfortable and the room is spacious. The downside is that the transportation is inconvenient, and you can choose to charter a car. The public area is small and there is no courtyard. Moreover, the room we were arranged in the corner of the first floor, and the private bath in the room is facing a wall of earth slope. The family open-air private bath is arranged at the foot of the mountain, just looking at the earth slope. When taking a bath, I didn’t enjoy any exquisiteness at all, and there was no scenery in the official picture at all. The arrangement of 6,000 yuan for one night to pick up the airport is really a nuisance."

Amazing
MMeng ChuanHad a delightful stay at the ryokan. The rooms are quite impeccable with the smell of the hinoki filling the room, it was quite heavenly.
We chose the room with the outdoor bath. And given the cool weather, our bathing experience was amazing.
The location was also perfect if you are making a trip to the Sengokuhara Susuki Pampas Grass fields, which is such a scenic spot and of which we enjoyed walked to and through in the setting sun.
We also opted to have dinner at the ryokan, who specially made it Halal-friendly for us.
What's most amazing to us regarding the ryokan was the service. We had a Nepalese staff speaking with us most of the time, as he was the best in English. He personally brought us to our room and even gave an introduction to the room, and what we needed to take note off. After we checked out, he enquired how we were making our way to the train station. There was conveniently located bus stop just outside the ryokan, so we were going to take that. On our way out, he drove out and stopped along the road beside us (good thing there was no traffic) and to our utter surprise offered to drive us to the train station. We found out that he was actually knocking off, but instead of going straight home to rest (before his next shift in the evening), he wanted to drive us to the station. We were exceptionally touched at his extremely kind gesture (as we didn't think it was hotel protocol to do so). Nonetheless, his actions left us a beautiful and lasting impression on the ryokan.
Would definitely go again for the luxurious experience!

BBolanghaoxiaoxiannvThe hot spring hotel is very beautiful, and it feels very old when you walk inside. The public areas are carefully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are private hot springs that can be booked, and there are not many people in the public hot springs. You can directly book a hot spring before breakfast. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. There is a young lady who speaks super fluent English. Communication is barrier-free, and every dish is very clear. The only drawback is that the location of the hotel is not very convenient if you don't have a private car. You need to call to pick up the station. If you don't have a mobile phone number, you can contact by email, but you can't guarantee timely contact... If you drop off at the check-out time, you can only be sent to Sheguye to take the bus, but there are not many buses, and they are not very punctual, so you may have to wait for a long time. Except for the inconvenient transportation, other experiences are great!

Amazing
TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

FFionaIt was snowing when we were there. The condominium block was not as ideal as we had to head over to the main building for the restaurant, onsen, snack bars. The snow made the walk slippery and it was very cold. Other than that little inconvenience, everything else was delightful. Parking is sheltered, room was big and comfortable, free drinks and snacks, good dinner and breakfast, kid-friendly, relaxing onsen.

AAlfredHotel was literally 2 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto station. Check in was easy. Room was clean. Public bathe was nice. Some parts of the hotel was under maintenance while we were there.
The breakfast was pretty good as well. They've got western food items, eastern items and japanese items.

GGuest UserI love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we
started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road.

Great
GGuest UserI recently stayed at Hotel Odakyu in Hakone and had a mixed experience. On the map, the location seems convenient, but in reality, it's a bit tricky—especially for solo travelers. There are no buses that go directly to the hotel, so you end up walking along the main road in the dark if you're coming back in the evening. There’s no sidewalk, which made it feel unsafe and uncomfortable for me as a single female traveler.
That said, the hotel itself is clean and the rooms, while a little outdated, are well-maintained and comfortable. The onsen is a lovely feature with both indoor and outdoor options—definitely a highlight of the stay. Amenities are great and well-stocked, and the traditional Japanese breakfast is beautifully prepared. Just note that it's the same meal every morning, so if you're staying for more than a night or two, it might feel repetitive.
One key tip: buses in Hakone don’t run late, so make sure to be back in the area by 6 or 7 PM to avoid the long, dark walk. Personally, I would recommend staying in a more central or populated area of Hakone for better access to restaurants and transit—especially if you're relying on public transportation.

CCyphExcellent accommodation and the location is to die for if MtFuji and the lake is what you’re looking for. A very quiet area in the morning and at night when the tour buses are gone.
For those looking to book, here are a few tips we found out to help you out. There’s no receptionist so you will have to figure out how to get in so do not walk on the street side but walk over to the lake side and enter. Otherwise if you enter from the street side, the first pin pad you see is the wrong one. If it’s in front of the door marked “private” then the door code won’t work. Walk around to the front and look for glass doors. That’s where you can enter your door code.
The onsen water is extremely hot. Maybe that’s how onsen works but I couldn’t stay for more than 5 minutes as I got dizzy. The loft area is low ceilings but my kids loved sleeping there. However the food here isn’t great so plan accordingly. The 7-11 close by has great snacks.
If I ever return to Hakone I would stay here again.

KKSAwesome Ryokan with pristine service. Hot spring was great too, albeit one was abit too hot. Rebecca was an awesome attendant where she made sure we enjoyed our meals and stay.
The only letdown would be the location as there is a slope to get up to the Ryokan which is quite dangerous. One note is that it is hard to get taxi to yama no Chaya where they may reject to drive passenger there.
The view is also a bit disappointing.
But all in all, an awesome stay!

KkitekidThe exterior is in the style of a simple European manor, and the interior should have been renovated in recent years. The key is a traditional key with a long plexiglass room card, which is very impressive.
There is a natural hot spring private bath, where you can enjoy the view on the hillside. There are massage chairs, TVs, etc. in the bathing and changing lounge area for you to rest and cool down before returning to the room. The service is very considerate.
The breakfast is a Western set meal, which is exquisite and can be eaten as a breakfast. The restaurant faces the hillside and the scenery is invincible.
We arrived very late, and the front desk was also very friendly.
The front desk was also very friendly during the day, and they responded to every request. Luggage can be stored.
The bed and tatami are very good, and the quilt is a duck down quilt, which makes you sleep very comfortably at night.
The disadvantage is that you have to climb a slope to leave ”Gora”. There is a car to pick you up at 18:00 in the evening, so you can only climb if it's late. It's closer to ”Park Shang” and there is not such a big slope, but there is still a car at 22:00 on the mountain climbing line to ”Gora”, and there seems to be no car at 18:00 on the traction railway to ”Park Shang”. If you go late, you can only climb or take a taxi. We checked in late, so we only enjoyed the service of being sent to Gora after checking out.
