Drifters Inn
4.5/556 Reviews
Two large and one small (small five years old) room for two people, the child adds 20 New Zealand dollars per night. The location of the hotel is very good, just across the hot spring, a hundred percent trip! Parking is free. Our own ingredients have been burnt in the past, the public kitchen there is basically no one, but it is very clean, the pots and pans are very complete, there are large refrigerated freezers, the restaurant is very comfortable, there are desktop games in the public area to play. . The room is small, but the facilities are quite new and very clean. Each room is given a bottle of milk every day, and the owner's family is very friendly. Very satisfied, I will choose this one next time I go to the hot springs.
Aspen Lodge Motel

This motel was one of the best - it was perfect for what you need, and with a realistic and sensible budget to match. Plenty of space, bathroom was huge and kitchen was brilliant. Loads of towels to borrow to take to the pool and return for washing when you get back. The pool is an easy 5 minute walk away. Fantastic bike storage available and the hosts were super friendly and helpful. Room was incredibly clean. No washing machine available but there is a clothes rack if you do have wet togs etc. Quiet location but so very close to the shops and eating places. Staying here is a great decision.
Clear Ridge Apartments

We have stayed at several motels while stopping at Hanmer Springs and have found the Best accommodation so far. We needed to recharge our batteries and booked a 5 night stay. The apartment was large which meant for 2 of us plenty of room to chill. We were in Apartment 9 which was 2nd Floor on the end which gave great views .The furniture was all very comfortable and the bed very relaxing. There was a Full kitchen which was great so you could cook yourself or just use the facilities for takeaways. The thing we liked the best was full washing facilites so you could go to the Hanmer Pools , come back and instantly dry your swim gear. On the last day we could wash and dry used clothes so you did not have to do this when returning home, The bathroom had a tall spa bath and the handwash, shampoo etc was very good. We had read when booking that robes were provided but could not find them so went to reception who told us no problem if we wanted them but you just need to request them. They were luxurious and warm and heavy. We found no request we had was too much. The positioning of the apartments is perfect for the golf course and Pools along with the main street and eateries within touching distance. We now will have trouble not booking Clearidge in future unless booked out.
The St James Premium Accommodation

Rae & Paul were both warm and friendly. The hotel was pristine clean, with added personal touches. They even provided a tote with pool towels to borrow! The location was within walking distance to the heart of Hanmer Springs town. Rae kindly suggested two high demand restaurants. Taking her advice we booked No.31 A-mazing!! Highly recommend both St James & No.31
Village Lake Apartments

We were absolutely gutted with our stay at village lake this time. We have stayed here lots however this was by far the worst stay we’ve had. We booked 6 weeks before, and arrived at 4.30pm For checkin, to find our room had had the carpet cleaned. The chairs etc had not been put back and we’re just inside the doorway of our unit. Both bedrooms had all the furniture on top of the beds upside down. Once we got that sorted went to settle the kids in to find they didn’t have a bed for our 3rd child (whom we paid for of Course) when asked about the bed that wasn’t provided, got told by the manager that we have to pay an extra $40 for a trundler bed. Even though we had paid extra for each Of our 3 kids to stay with us. All the lights bar one tiny light worked and this was hanging by wires in the second room. No extra toilet paper to use but the roll on the holder. We also booked for 5, and they only provided us with 4 towels every single day they came to clean. We had to keep asking for more. The front door to our room didn’t lock properly. It appears to be locked however with a solid push the door still pops open, so the unit was not secure. We asked to have this looked at and nothing was done about it. We were charged premium 5 star pricing for our stay, and asked to pay up front which we did as we’ve never had a problem before. It absolutely was NOT up to 5 stars.
Hanmer Springs Hotel

I took my daughter to Hanmer for a birthday treat. We decided to stay at the Hamner Springs hotel because it looks lovely from the outside. I’m afraid to say it was nothing like that on the inside! The first room they put us in on the top floor was dark and musty. We tried to open one of the doors in the room and the handle completely broke off. They then put us in room 108 on the bottom floor - it was sold to us as a king deluxe room. It was anything, but that besides, the room being tired the TV didn’t work, the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work. The shower pipe fell off the wall while I was showering and all the light switches were connected, so you could not turn off particular lights when you wanted. We ordered room service from the in-house restaurant. We had a seafood pasta, which was totally average. The Greek salad had no fetta or olives- when we complained, they return the salad with some sprinkled feta on the top. The whole thing was a total disappointment, the hotel is shabby and tired!. I gave it a two star rating because the staff were helpful and very friendly. Besides, that I would give this place a total miss so sad because I have stayed there in the past, and it was super.🥲
