Hotels in On the mountain, Huangshan

We stayed at Huangshan Baiyun Hotel for one night, hoping to catch the famous sunrise. Although it ended up raining (we later learned the area gets over 200 days of rain a year!), the experience was still absolutely worth it. We took the Yungu cable car from the back of the mountain and hiked about 4.5 hours to reach the hotel. While we originally planned to visit the Xihai Grand Canyon, we chose a shorter route due to the rain—passing Flying-over-the-Rock and Bright Summit. When we arrived, we were soaked, but the hospitality was immediate. Staff gave us bags for our wet gear and greeted us in the lobby with hot ginger tea—such a thoughtful and comforting gesture! The hotel itself was spotless and well-equipped. After checking in, Xiao Ye (小叶) led us to our room and introduced all the amenities: umbrellas, warm jackets for chilly mornings, a foot bath bucket, tea and coffee with a kettle, and my favorite—a clothes-drying heater. She also added us on WeChat, which made everything super convenient. Through WeChat, she updated us on weather conditions and available hotel services, including a complimentary 20-minute massage chair session. The buffet dinner and breakfast were both tasty with a good variety, and we enjoyed a lovely staff performance in the lobby that evening. Later in the evening, Xiao Ye surprised us with local Huangshan snacks and fruit—a small act of kindness that made us feel genuinely cared for and welcomed. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, the hotel made our stay feel warm and memorable. I’d definitely stay here again—hopefully next time under clear skies to finally catch that beautiful sunrise!

During our stay , we had a wonderful experience. The hotel offered excellent service, comfortable rooms, and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, always ensuring that we had everything we needed. The location was convenient, making it easy to explore the area, and the hotel’s amenities. The rooms were clean, well-maintained, and provided a relaxing space to unwind after a day of activities.

Location at the top of the mountain cannot be faulted and close to quite a few scenic spots. They also organise sunset & sunrise tours for guests (min 5 people) and if there are enough people, a photography workshop. We didn't have enough people for the workshop which was a shame. Service and attention was top notch and very friendly staff (shout out to Mr Li, 李管家 who was extremely helpful with all our questions and provided suggestions on the hiking routes). The actual building is a little dated but it looks like they're carrying out works to make improvements. As it was after peak holiday season, they also upgraded our no window room booking to one with a window. 👍

What We Liked Service staff were very warm and friendly, and there's a WeChat where they update on sunrise timings at the nearby Danxia Peak. The path to Danxia peak was well lit even at 4am, and the room comes with thick jackets and a torch light for you to bring along. The staff made all the difference in our stay as they genuinely wanted to ensure our stay was enjoyable. As it is the closest hotel to Danxia peak, it is very convenient to get to within 20mins for both sunrise and sunset. However if you are looking to catch the sea of clouds, it is much further away. What We Disliked The room layout is quite odd, and our ”window” faces the corridor and into the next unit. This meant that sound is very audible even with the window closed. But if the window is closed, there's no ventilation and makes the room uncomfortably warm. I guess it's not an issue on colder nights. If you manage your expectations that this is a hotel on the mountaintop, where heavy goods are hand carried by workers it is ok.

The room layout is good and the outside environment is beautiful. The service was considerate, they greeted us from a distance, and quickly contacted the porters and the cable car to the station when we left. The breakfast was unique, the dinner chef was very good, the ingredients were fresh, and the taste was excellent. In short, I was very satisfied with the experience and it is worth coming again. I drink Huangshan tea every day. Maofeng and Houkui are very delicious. The view of the sunset and rising clouds is unforgettable. Very beautiful cliff house, great service, very delicious meals, in short, a very worthwhile living experience in life~

Great hotel to stay on the top of the montains. very close to the cable car and the main attraction. Be awere, you still need to walk quite a few stairs. perfect location, 5 on 5. Entering the lobby, the hotel is clean and the reception was helpfull. They have a balcony for customer that has an amazing view. The hotel provided water bottles in the room. They also offer sunset tour. For the service, 5 on 5. their staff are nice ! For the price point (1500 rmb per night) this hotel doesn't meet the 5 stars criteria as requested by wechat for their review ;) .The room are small, outdated and humid making it hard to keep the chlothes dry. They provided a fan to help with the temperature, since there is no AC. The walls had stain on them as well as the carpet on the floor. for this reason, facilities gets a 3 out of 5. Once the cablecar close, your only food option for dinner is their buffet at 160 rmb per person. it's good. but lot's of flies around the food and tables. cleanliness could be improved. Overall it was a great experience..

The hotel is elegant in style, with coffee machines, massagers, humidifiers, tea bars, beverage counters, delicious pastries and fruits, good floor heating, good insulation and soundproofing, and customized large down jackets. Meals are available in set menus or a la carte, and can be delivered to the room while watching TV series. At night, my legs were sore, so I took a comfortable hot bath in the room, and then used a massager to massage my legs, which made me feel a lot more relaxed. The housekeeper service was meticulous, and made very detailed recommendations and introductions from the recommended routes up and down the mountain, weather conditions, things to bring, to delicious restaurants. The location of the hotel is also great, halfway up the mountain. I went out at 6:20 in the morning and walked for about 20 minutes, and just saw the sunrise 🌅. After breakfast, I checked out and got two small boxes of tea souvenirs. It was a very satisfying accommodation experience, recommended~

Hotel is at a convenient location where you can end your hike at for the day. Value for money as you get to view the sunset, star-gaze and see the sunrise all in one location! Receptionist Hu Shan was extremely helpful and even sent us messages on Weibo to alert us of the sunset/sunrise timings. 酒店的地点非常方便。上了山就能立刻休息。也能在酒店的台阶看日出日落，还能看银河!! 前台小姐胡珊也帮了我们不少- 在微博上给我们发消息让我们知道日出日落的时间。非常感谢！

The first time I have such a desire to evaluate, the hygiene is really bad! I won't complain about hardware decoration, but the focus is on hygiene! Even in a homestay, shouldn't bedding hygiene be the most basic? The sheets and quilts have hair! It also looks dirty, although there is no smell, but I feel itchy all day long! The air conditioner is leaking and sprays water continuously, like rain, and the toiletries are also very poor. Choose carefully
