Hotels in Gulou District, Kaifeng

The classical garden design offers a new view with every step, creating a wonderful atmosphere. It was my first time staying here, and the staff proactively escorted me to my room, otherwise, it would have been quite difficult to find on my own. The room facilities are relatively good and it's very quiet, with decent soundproofing. The hotel breakfast is mainly Chinese, with noodles, wontons, and also bread, salad, stir-fries, and fried noodles. It's quite filling.

My stay at Ping Song Hotel in Kaifeng was an absolute embodiment of 'Song Dynasty charm.' The moment I stepped into the lobby, the antique furnishings and perfectly lit ambiance immediately created an incredible atmosphere. The room facilities were very modern, especially the smart control system – I could turn on the lights and close the curtains just by speaking, which was a dream for someone like me! Yet, the overall design blended perfectly with the Song Dynasty style, without any jarring elements. The cleanliness deserves full marks; the floors and tabletops were spotless, and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom was excellent. Most importantly, the bedding felt meticulously cared for – clean and soft, guaranteeing a great night's sleep. The service was impeccable. Check-in at the front desk was efficient, and they thoughtfully provided a Kaifeng tourist map. Room service was also very prompt. The biggest bonus was the souvenir I received when checking out: a beautifully packaged box of Kaifeng chrysanthemum tea. This thoughtful gesture truly touched me and brought my Kaifeng trip to a perfect close.

I visited Kaifeng for several days in late April, just before Labor Day, and was quite satisfied with this hotel's environment, cleanliness, service, and facilities – it felt like great value for money. I especially liked that the rooms were spacious and came with a massage chair, a smart bidet toilet with heated seat, drawers, and a clothesline, which are features often missing in similar hotels. I also want to highlight that both the Western and Chinese breakfast options were abundant and delicious. The only minor drawback was that the air in the hallways and rooms wasn't as fresh as it could be.

The location is excellent, very close to Gulou. There are shopping malls and pedestrian streets nearby. Downstairs on the first floor, there's a supermarket, and on the fourth floor, there's a Haidilao, making it incredibly convenient for getting around and dining. They have a self-service laundry room, and food deliveries can be brought right to your door by a robot. The facilities are quite new and well-equipped, offering great value for money! Highly recommended.

Let me talk about the advantages first, the air conditioning is very powerful, the location is excellent, there is a night snack stall downstairs, and the Drum Tower Night Market is next to it. Sound insulation is a bit poor, the TV next door is on the bedside of this room, it is really a headache to watch TV at one or two o'clock. The hotel is newly renovated, the taste is still a bit, the elevator is very obvious, and the room is a little bit. Then the public area health should pay attention to it every day, specifically at the end of the aisle, the cigarette butts on the first day have not been cleaned up to the third day, and the photos will not be uploaded. I hope to improve. Finally, there is a green light on the wall in the room. It is in a black state and will flash every few seconds. I don't know what it is but I must solve it! There is a souvenir on the order. I hope to take the initiative and have to leave the store and have not given it yet. Because every time I stay in a hotel, I will choose carefully, so I have not changed for three days. It is not that I am talking about these are picky, but that the itinerary has been planned and there is no time to change. Kaifeng is a very good city, people lingering, the hotel is generally good, I hope you are getting better and better!

Our stay at the FunGee Hotel (Gulou Square branch) was the most pleasant surprise of our trip to Kaifeng. The hotel is right in the heart of the ancient city, just a 5-minute walk from the Shudianjie Night Market. If you're driving, there's free parking directly opposite the hotel, and it's a convenient drive to places like Xiangguo Temple and Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden. The hotel is a trendy design hotel that opened in 2025. The lobby is located on the fourth floor and accessible directly by elevator. ⚠️ The rooms are spacious and bright. Do note that for inner-facing rooms, the 'floor-to-ceiling window' looks out onto a wall and doesn't offer ventilation. The entire room is equipped with smart voice control, high-end toiletries, and a mini-fridge. There's a QR code by the bed for some complimentary items. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable, and the room is quiet. The lobby offers 24-hour refreshments and drinks. During afternoon tea, there's an unlimited supply of fruits and desserts. Complimentary cocktails are offered every evening, and breakfast is served until 11 AM, with a good variety of tasty options. The front desk staff provided warm and efficient service throughout our stay.

I initially thought a hotel opened in 2018 wouldn't be great, but I was pleasantly surprised by the service. First, the service was incredibly attentive. After checking us in, the front desk even escorted us to the elevator, something I've never experienced in all my years of staying at hotels. The room had small snacks and a welcome card, and the handwritten welcome card was a lovely touch. What's more, besides breakfast, the hotel also provided lunch and late-night snacks. Although we didn't get to enjoy them due to our schedule, it was still a delightful surprise. While some of the furniture in the hotel was a bit old, the showerhead in the bathroom seemed new, with excellent water pressure and temperature – which is very important. The service was absolutely outstanding; this trip to Henan truly touched me. Oh, and upon checkout, we even received local specialty souvenirs. Simply incredible.

The environment is great, the transportation is convenient, and the bedding is comfortable.

I booked this hotel on Ctrip half a month in advance for this trip, after reading countless reviews. However, I must have had bad luck because the room I got was completely different from what was described in the reviews. In all my years of staying in hotels, I've never had a double room with only one bedside table. The width of the room, as shown in picture one, makes it hard to believe this is supposed to be a 25-square-meter room. I also didn't experience any of the warm service mentioned in the reviews; the female staff member who checked me in didn't smile once. It seems I can't rely solely on positive reviews when booking hotels anymore. The only thing worth recommending is the parking lot; the underground parking has plenty of spaces, which is great for self-driving.

The twin room felt like a tower with a dormer window. It was quite unique to be able to see the sky when I opened the curtains at night. The location is excellent, very close to Gulou, Xiangguo Temple, and Yanqing Temple, and not too far from Longting Park, making it very convenient for getting around. Gulou Night Market has lots of food and is very lively.
