Location just perfect. Lodge spread out over several acres next to the water which makes for an attractive environment. Room was reasonably large and very good if slightly dark though, with a balcony overlooking the moorings. Restaurant good and thankfully not many of the "and fries" on the menu. One downside, no drink-making facilities in the room which meant a trek to the lounge area if one wanted a drink-could be a pain in wet weather. Another was that the room was not made up - I had to ask for it-then only the duvet was pulled over, nothing else was done. The next day, nothing at all was done. I gave up. Not good. Facilities around the site were very good indeed-free kayaks etc. We were blessed with lovely warm weather and the walks from there are beautiful. It was also very pleasant to sit with a muffin and coffee outside the coffee shop down by the marina. Worth mentioning that it's approx. 50miles to Kilarney from the highway and I didn't see a petrol station in the town.....

We attended KML for a Gala event. We did get a room rate but we upgraded to the king suite. Room was fine, clean and fresh. Pillows way too soft for me but bed comfy enough. Bathroom and amenities fine too. If we had to pay full rate the room was definitely not worth 409.$ a night. No TV, no wifi, no phone to contact front desk if needed. No complimentary in room coffee ! We had to leave early in the a.m. so having a coffee would of been nice. Nothing open in town to get one either. That's a long 68km road back out to the highway where there is still nothing around to get a hot drink. The Gala itself was very nice and the food was absolutely fabulous. No complaints at all. Hat's off to the chef. Staff all very nice, especially the front desk when we checked in. Scenery is absolutely amazing. We got to watch the sun come up and it was spectacular. Glad we visited but not somewhere we would return to vacation.

Very disappointed! Friends came to visit from the UK and we thought they would love to see the area and the colours of Fall. Killarney is a beautiful place. But everything was closed for the season. Shuttle over to George Island was finished for the season. No sail boat, canoes, nothing! It was a beautiful weekend, sunny and warm. The food was a real disappointed at the Lodge. Don't eat there inspite of the chef having a good background! The Sportsman Inn was good. Breakfast was wonderful, hot and service was good. Pity as this area has such great potential.

Extremely disappointed staff does not answer the phone. I came back to my room, one of the maintenance and the person staying in the next room over were in my room as my door was squeaky, and they had complained about the door, so somebody that was not even staying in my room was allowed in my room with maintenance while they were fixing my door, which I find highly unprofessional, and a huge security risk. The webpage as well as flyers it shows and previous years that we’ve attended it allows you to have campfires to be had at the main fire pit which is also a source to cook food, midway through our trip we were approached by a manager, instructing us to immediately put out our fire as we were not allowed to have fires, however, there was not a fire ban in effect even though staff, each night have been providing us with wood to have a fire to cook our food on, which is so shocking when there is a grill right beside the fire pit to go on top to cook food on. This is highly disappointing , which in turn caused us to purchase food and our food to spoil, which was completely out of our budget. When booking the room, a campfire was a part of the expectation and experience. Our last night there I was looking out of my room, and I noticed that people were having a fire. However, I was extremely upset that we were banned from even being over there. I did not attend I was in utter shock that it was allowed after we were told that it was not acceptable. I had my child with me and they were crying that we weren’t able to have a fire when we had planned and came all this way to have a fun experience and it was kiboshed. I have had multiple charges come out of my account and back into my account. None of the staff seem to know what they were doing everyone says that they are understaffed, and nobody even walks around with a smile on their face, paying that kind of money you expect exceptional service, while getting food in the carrousel room the servers in there did not even come to our tables to take our order I can see if it was busy or somebody else was in there. She was minding the bar however, there was not a single other guest in there we had a large group, including many elderly people. She refused to come to our table to take our orders and when our food came It was sitting on the bar and I walked up and I said, should I just come and deliver this to the tables she said yes. She did not have a single guest other than us in the bar to tend to she just choose to not serve us. When it’s cold and rainy, it would be nice to be able to hang out in the games room. However, the majority of the games are missing pieces or broken again when you’re spending that kind of money they should update the games room a little bit more especially if you’re going to be serving families . The showers did not even close properly in the guest suites which causes water to pool on the floor, which is a huge slipping hazard. The Killarney Mountain Lodge is absolutely

This location is amazing and so is the resort. We stayed in one of the cabins (No tv, no wifi, no coffee maker, no AC). It was perfect. The bed was super comfy with a fluffy comforter, the fan kept us plenty cool. Views left some to be desired as there was construction and construction fill/road between us and the water view. We did not spend much time inside our cabin to be bothered by it. They resort provides bicycles, kayaks, games (from bocce balls to play on the grass to ping pong in the game room), a huge pool and fitness center. Comfy chairs to sit in and relax are scattered all over. We did not eat in the resort as we loved the fresh fish and chips at Herbert’s Fisheries.

Loved everything about it. Especially the mix of old and new buildings. The games room and main dining room reminds you of old movie resorts. The rooms in Portage were great. The beds and bedding are wonderful.

A great resort in a breathtaking part of the world. We were there for a multi-generational family weekend. The heated pool was fantastic. We could sip drinks by the pool while the kids tired themselves out. There are bikes, canoes and kayaks all available for free. Walking into town for delicious fish a chips and the hike along the Chicaninish Creek were two highlights. We will definitely go back.

We’ve been coming to KML for years, and this is the first time we’ve really been disappointed in our stay. The LaCloche building is just not for us. It feels removed from the rest of the resort and requires a lot of walking. It has a shared men’s washroom on the upper floor, and a shared women’s washroom on the main floor — keep this in mind when you check in if you’d like to request a certain floor. The rooms are *tiny* and only have overhead lighting (no lamps… *tip: bring a lantern if you want to spend some time in your room in the evening). There’s no AC in the building; however they do provide a good-sized fan. It feels very much like a student dorm, which makes sense given it was staff quarters before. I’d like to see LaCloche be upgraded to include things like an electric kettle, complimentary teas, a mini fridge, and men’s and women’s washrooms on *both* floors. Even a peep hole for the door would be nice. The LaCloche rooms *might* be worthwhile if your main activity is hiking or paddling. We were looking for that resort vibe, but truthfully this felt more like camping or a hostel. It’s not as easy as staying in the Pine rooms, which are right by the pool, where you can go back to your room quickly for rests throughout the day, or go back to grab something in case you forget it. Those rooms have become too expensive now, though, and the previous *gorgeous* view is currently a construction site. For LaCloche — On the plus side, the bathrooms are kept clean and the pillows are extremely comfortable. The rooms do have a nice sized dresser and the building’s located right beside the tennis courts which also have pickelball set up to play. The lodge itself is beautiful as always — if you’ve never stayed at KML, it’s worth coming to see the artwork around the property and the details put into The Canada House. The scenery and nature is breathtaking, possibly the most beautiful in Ontario. Dinner at The Ranch House is DELICIOUS although pricey. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful. We are very sad about KML’s decision to blast away the rock at the shoreline over by The Pilot House in order to build new cabins. It would’ve been nice to see that investment put into the existing cabins. Also, all that beauty of the natural rock that’s been there for thousands of years has been destroyed. For what? *More* expensive lodging at a resort that is becoming less and less affordable. I’d like to see KML place more emphasis on respecting the nature that it gets the privilege to caretake and steward. We’re unlikely to return to KML as guests. We’ve had plenty of good times here, though! Worth a visit if you’ve never been.

My wife and I stayed at the Killarney Mountain Lodge for three nights in early June on the sixth leg of our Ontario and Quebec road trip. It was a long drive from Sudbury - about an hour and a quarter with the latter parts of the drive virtually traffic free. Check in was quite smooth although we didn’t get offered any assistance with our luggage. We were assigned a room on the upper floor of the covered portage. There was no elevator. The mountain-view room also overlooked the access road to the site. The view from the other side over the water would have been much preferred. Fortunately, there was low occupancy during our mid-week stay so we didn’t experience any disturbance. We had a reasonably large room. There were two queen sized beds provided with the standard duvet and pillows. We slept fairly comfortably. There was a hanging rail and several chests of drawers for clothes storage. There was no safe in the room. Neither was there access to wifi in the room - we had to walk across to the main building which was open 24/7. The room lacked any facility for making hot drinks - no kettle and we were unable to borrow one. We made good use of the fridge, and we used this to prepare our own breakfasts of cereal and juice. Lighting was very reasonable in our room with side lights and plenty of spotlights in the ceiling. We would have liked to have had some comfortable chairs so we could relax in our room - there was just a wooden padded chair at a desk / table. The bathroom was roomy, with a sink and a compact shower enclosure. The water came out of the shower head powerfully. The towels were large although a little on the rough side. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant one evening. There are several venues for dining. We ate in the large dining room where a small percentage of the tables were in use, so there was little in the way of a convivial atmosphere. This hotel served as our base for exploring this attractive area. It is very remote. It’s fine if guests wish to walk trails (only a couple are moderate difficulty with the rest being more challenging for one reason or another) or go out on the water in a canoe or kayak. We had one busy day of trail walking but used the other day to relax, halfway through our lengthy tour. BE AWARE that insects are a significant issue, with the locals and staff complaining about them. We bought bug jackets which proved to be a NECESSITY when walking through the woods or by the water. Also, there is a small grocery store but goods are VERY expensive so I suggest you stock up before coming to Killarney if you wish to self cater. There is access to petrol / gas but again you will pay a hefty premium for the remoteness of this area.
