Visited with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday for afternoon tea, plenty of parking & beautiful building. We were first given a coffee table & low chairs which we found a bit cramped & not really suitable for a disabled member of our party, after moving a few chairs around the waitress asked if we would prefer to move to the dining room which we did. The afternoon tea was lovely, I had a vegetarian one, good mix of sandwiches, nibbly bits, scones & desserts, beautiful crockery all served in a very nice room. The waitress was very helpful & nothing was too much trouble for her, all in all, a lovely afternoon. The Afternoon Tea is probably a bit more expensive then nearby places but was also a bit more special. Would we go again? NO & the reason? it is cashless, card only, luckily we did have cards with us but we all agreed that taking away our choice to pay cash would sadly stop us returning.

Came here for afternoon tea with my Granny on a Sunday afternoon for her birthday. We sat in the library room which was really lovely and cosy and had a good atmosphere. The afternoon tea was AMAZING - we both said the best we’ve ever had. Everything was so tasty, and the perfect quantity so we felt like we could try a bit of everything. One note is that maybe not all the scones need to have raisins in and perhaps there could be plain as an option, just our preference though, the scones were still super tasty! The waiter who served us was so friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and we really appreciated this - so sorry I can’t remember your name! Definitely recommend & we’ll definitely be back!

A luxurious and surprisingly cultural gem hidden in the East Riding, you’ll come away feeling inspired by life! This family run business invests love into maintaining their beloved house and grounds. The locally sourced kitchen delivers contemporary British cuisine without any fussiness. Hotel staff are welcoming and meet their guests with the warmth and good humour you’d expect from the North country.

Stayed for a night to celebrate a special occasion, was great and very relaxing. It was a quiet night, not many guests, so we only came across three staff members but all were exceptionally polite, attentive and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant and the menu was lovely, we chose the Bloomsbury option which included more courses, but the food and its' presentation was absolutely stunning. We visit here a lot as it's not far from home and every occasion, whether afternoon tea or an evening meal, is a real treat.

This was our 2nd visit on returning home from Filey to Nottinghamshire, as its a good half way stop off. On our 1st visit in 2022 we booked their afternoon tea which was fabulous.. On this occasion we just dropped in for what we thought was to be a 'light lunch' .. It's so nice, tranquil & relaxing in the library bar & the staff so nice friendly. We both ordered soup(really tasty cauliflower) & a roll plus a sandwich & chips.. Portions are huge, should have opted for one or the other as I couldn't mange a scone with clotted cream! We nearly booked a room so that we could have a 'lie down' after our 'light lunch' LOL! We will certainly call in again if we're close by. Thanks for a fabulous lunch.

My friend and I visited tickton grange today for afternoon tea. We chose this venue as we have been before and we knew that we would not be rushed, we needed plenty of time for our catch up. As on our previous visit we received a warm welcome, was shown to our table which was lovely in the bow window overlooking the garden. Our order for drinks was quickly taken and brought to our table. Our afternoon tea consisted of an arrangement of finger sandwiches, a selection of savouries, mini cakes, pastries and cheesecakes and of course fresh scones with jam and clotted cream, and a small dish of fresh fruit. Everything was quite simply delicious, the mini fish cakes were particularly good, I thought that all the savouries were seasoned to perfection, very tasty. Eileen who looked after us was very attentive to our needs, refreshing our pot of tea several times, checking we had all we needed. All in all we had a lovely afternoon, we didn’t feel rushed which is very important to us. We have decided that we shall be visiting tickton grange again when we find the time for another of our catch ups. It was lovely to relax in such a lovely setting

The venue is lovely and the service when having drinks and being transferred to the dining room was great. During our meal however, the service was poor - we ended up going to the bar to get our drinks as the waiting staff were incredibly inattentive. The vegetarian options are pretty bad - I have been previously and remember last time they weren't great either. They do have a vegan menu but it's a case of choosing the least disgusting sounding item and then hoping for the best (celeriac teriyaki, really?) My starter was ok - and very small. The mini loaves of bread that they give you go well with soup and pate etc but not this meal. Vegetarians and vegans seem to be an afterthought here. My main course (beetroot farro risotto) of course didn't come with the cheese that the vegetarians had, but hadn't been replaced with anything. In fact they didn't even garnish it with the pea shoots or leaves that the vegetarians got that would have given it some colour. I had a few mouthfuls and it was horrible - it just tasted of beetroot puree mixed with grains which was poorly seasoned. Of course, you're paying the same for this flavourless bowl of slop as the meat roast dinners and it's frankly insulting. We were ignored by waiting staff for the duration of our meal, and were sat with clean plates (apart from mine) for ages. When I did manage to summon a waitress over and explained the meal was bad and I couldn't eat it, she said she would tell the chef - no asking to see if I would like something else. The roast dinners seemed to be the only decent things on the menu - many of the other meals my party got were tiny in comparison. The chefs really need to learn how to cook decent vegetarian food. You can't get away with poor seasoning etc like you can with roast meat. A well balanced meal will have some protein in - there are plenty of options like beans, lentils, tofu etc if you don't want to go down the processed food route. A vegetable with sauce on is not a meal. A bowl of poorly seasoned grains is not worth about 20 quid. Why not do a vegan/veggie roast? That would be awesome. It goes without saying we won't be returning after this experience.

Fabulous, gluten free, afternoon tea. Mine was almost the same as my husband’s; who isn’t gluten free. Good selection of cakes and sandwiches. Lovely surroundings, a real log fire and tentative staff. You can upgrade to Prosecco or champagne but I love their green tea with jasmine and honey. Staff keep your tea pot topped up too .

I am a regular visitor to Tickton Grange and stay for business every other week. I love the hotel and its people and the food is superb. If you want good service and to be made to feel like a human being rather than just a number on a key card, you should give this place a go. Good old fashioned hospitality at it's best !!!!
