Kasui-en (The Westin Miyako Kyoto)

The room is very spacious, and the beautiful bamboo forest scenery outside is all shown through the living room and bedroom windows. The quality of the complimentary toiletries is very good. I booked the hotel's teppanyaki in the evening, the beef set meal is super tender, and the Japanese service is attentive... Forgot, Previously, we also offered free afternoon tea in the executive lounge, but as a result, I was too exhausted to finish dinner... In short, Sukiya Annex was the best place to experience during my trip to Kyoto and Osaka. I will continue to come back next time.

I stayed in a private room with an open-air bath, but as soon as I entered the room, it smelled like cigarettes. I confirmed that this was a non-smoking room, and there was a sign saying no to smoking in the room. I had no choice but to try to ventilate the room for a while, but it didn't work. When I turned on the air conditioner, the smell of cigarettes wafted out from there. I complained to the front desk, but they told me they didn't have a replacement room, so I was left alone. It's as if they only think of us as a money vine that will drop a huge amount of money during the high Obon season. The staff did not come to the room and only apologized over the phone, which felt very dishonest. The cleaning company at this hotel and the way the hotel checks to see if the rooms are in good condition must be very sloppy. In the first place, I question the morals of guests who smoke in non-smoking rooms. As a result, I fell ill and had a terrible experience. Come to think of it, the landlady never showed up. It's fine if it's a cheap hotel, but since this is a luxury inn, there should be appropriate measures against smoking and treatment for guests. No matter how well-equipped the hotel is or how good the location is, this is putting the cart before the horse. It turned out to be the worst stay. I thought I had found a good place to stay, but I was wrong. It's a shame.

Kyoto Station
Staff Are very attentive and quick, they are able to assist you in English too if you can't communicate in Japanese. Transport is easy as it is located about 10-15 minutes away from Kyoto Station which has Shinkansen/JR trains/bus available. Given a cozy room with various options of daily cleaning (none/basic/partial/full) main difference being if you want the bathtub to be washed / bed to be made, so you can hang it by your door to notify the crew accordingly.

Kyoto Station
This is my third visit. Dusit Thani Kyoto always seems to be busy. During check-in, the child was running around and going crazy in the lobby. The cleanliness of the hotel is worse than when it first opened. Something rolled under the bed and I shined a light to find it. There was a jelly wrapper. I don't eat jelly. It's not mine. It's a pity that even though it was my third visit, I was assigned a room at the end of the hallway. I won't tell the taxi driver my destination in Japanese. Why do we ask for the destination when we ask for a taxi at the hotel? I received a grand send-off when leaving the hotel after checking out. It would have been nice if I had received that kind of welcome upon check-in in the first place. Hotel stay - received new towels every day The cleanliness of the visible areas was very good. However, the Bluetooth speaker, under the bed, and in the round table top groove in the room are It felt uncomfortable. I could see dust. I think I'll have to reconsider visiting again for a while.
The Westin Miyako Kyoto

Overall, amazing stay at the Miyako Westin Kyoto. Great location (quite central but not in the hectic district of Gion, at the foot of the hills on the east side of the side), stones throw to most restaurants / places of interests. Immediately got upgraded to suite when checking in (Platinum Bonvoy member), great service and hospitality. Suite was beautiful with balcony and great view, 2 member of the reception went up and escorted us to the suite. Food was amazing! Great breakfast spread with Japanese and Western options (the croissants are to die for, probably the best I've ever had!). They also have a Japanese Kaiseki option for a more authentic experience Concierge was super helpful. They managed to book us a table at a 1 michelin star Kaiseki restaurant with one day notice (keep in mind that most places are booked out 1-2 months in advance and the concierge had to call 15+ restaurants to find us a table) There was also an in-house ”Onsen” (Japanese bath house) with over 2000 sqm indoor and outdoor hot pool. Amazing place to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the city. Wonderful stay all in all and a definite stay again for future trips to Kyoto. Highly recommended!
