Overall it's very good. The scenery on the plateau is particularly good. It's a bit old, but the rooms are quite large. I decided to stay there on a whim.
A thatched roof shukubo (a guest house run by monks) registered as a tangible cultural property and offering handmade buckwheat noodles, a specialty of Togakushi
Stayed a nite here. Very good owner, thank you.Room rate including breakfast and dinner.

Hot spring accommodation in the foothills, with secluded hot spring water that gushes out from the Okususobana Valley and delicious seasonal vegetables
A thatched roof lodge surrounded by the seasonal mountains and a sea of clouds.A lodge with an Irori (traditional Japanese hearth) where has nestled in the mountain.
Nice room, very nice staff, very good dinner and breakfast
Omeitei uses seasonal Togakushi ingredients and offers traditional kaiseki course cuisine including soba noodles. The ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) also has a reputation for fine service that can only be provided by a small ryokan. null
The ryokan is situated just a few minutes’ walk from Chusha Daimon bus stop and Kuzuryusha Shrine—an ideal location for us as we stayed for two nights and focused on visiting the five shrines and nearby local shops. The ryokan is clean, and the staff are extremely friendly and warm. A few staff members speak basic English, which was helpful. The kaiseki breakfast and dinner were delicious—be sure to arrive with an empty stomach so you can fully enjoy the many courses and variety of dishes. The onsen is cozy and relaxing. Yukata are provided, and the amenities are well stocked, making the stay very comfortable. Nearby, there is a soba noodle shop where we enjoyed a hearty meal and even ordered dessert multiple times while waiting for the snowfall to ease before continuing our shrine walk. Right next to the soba shop is a souvenir store where you can pick up a few mementos to bring home. There is also a shuttle bus available within the Togakushi area, but my brother and I chose to walk while visiting all five shrines, which was a wonderful experience. A truly lovely place to stay. Highly recommended.

Amazing
SS&Y PFantastic stay, extremely helpful & polite staff.
Prime location, connected to Nagano station via the overpass, so you don't need to cross the road, super convenient. Our room was a bit small, 15 sqm, and 1 large suitcase, it was a bit cramped.
Would definitely stay here again but will book a bigger room. Arigato Sotetsu Nagano🙂
AAnonymous UserThe best thing about this hotel is its incredibly convenient location. You can see the JR entrance right from your room, which is perfect for those catching early morning day trips (many tour groups meet right by the JR ticket gates). Plus, when you return in the evening, you're right by all the restaurants at the JR station.
The room itself is quite small, but the breakfast spread is excellent.
JjemyaaaWe had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Metropolitan Nagano. The location is excellent, as it is directly connected to Nagano Station, which made traveling around the area very convenient. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, and the bed was very comfortable.
The staff were polite and helpful throughout our stay, and check-in was smooth. There are also many restaurants and shops nearby, which made it easy to find food and explore the area. Overall, it was a great place to stay in Nagano and we would definitely consider staying here again.
GGuest UserFirst of all, the two staff at the check-in counter showed a very strong sense of job burnout on their faces, and the whole check-in process was not very pleasant. However, the next morning during check-out, the ladies at the counter were very professional and everything felt fine.
After entering the room, I found it to be very stuffy and hot. When I turned on the air conditioning, it was only heating. Since the weather outside was quite cool, I understand that the system is centrally controlled and set to heating. I then tried opening the window, but it could only be opened a small amount. For some reason, no fresh air was coming in, and the room still felt very stuffy.
Later, I went down to the counter (again, the same two male staff from check-in) to ask if the air conditioning could be switched to cooling, but my request was rejected. I then asked if it was possible to borrow a fan, and they refused again with a very impatient attitude.
Overall, the stay was not a very good experience. The room itself was actually fine, but it was too stuffy. I hope this review can be helpful to others.
OOffAbbThe room was incredibly spacious, offering exceptional value for the price. The hotel maintains a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, which I truly appreciated. While the furniture and carpets show some slight signs of age, the overall comfort remains high.
I was impressed by their Zero Waste policy; instead of plastic bottles in the room, they provide glassware and a convenient water dispenser located right by the elevator. Please note that for a two-night stay, there is no housekeeping service, which aligns with their eco-friendly initiative.
The amenities were comprehensive, and the service was outstanding—truly upholding the high standards of the Mercure brand. Parking is plentiful and hassle-free. Lastly, the view is a hidden gem; on a clear day, you get an unobstructed, breathtaking panorama of the mountain range without any buildings blocking the sight. I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway!
XXiemimiLocated at Nagano Station East Exit, primarily booked for an early morning departure to Hakuba ⛷️. The location is super convenient, just across the street from the station. The room was a decent size, but the odor control wasn't great; it was a non-smoking room but still had a slight smoky smell. The duvet was very uncomfortable because it had a sheet separating it – I really dislike that type of bedding, it made for an uncomfortable sleep. There's a convenience store nearby which is handy. The entire East Exit area is a bit desolate. It was just a stopover for one night, so I had to make do. Booking it for around 700-800 on a weekend felt a bit like a rip-off…
GGuest UserThe location is great, just have to cross a bridge from the train station. And there were many food options around the train station area. The room was clean and just the right size for a single traveller. There was even a microwave oven in the room! The hotel is quite strict on its check in timings, its not really a downside, just a heads up for people who might try their luck for early check ins.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is very close to Zenkoji Temple on foot. It is a very special experience to attend the morning class at 6:30 in the morning.
Transportation: Across the road from Nagano Station, the buses to the city are all at the station entrance (both 1 and 7 are OK for Zenkoji. I took 1 bus which is closer. I bought the ticket before getting off). After getting off the bus, you can walk to the hotel in a few minutes.
Hotel service: There was a Japanese waiter on the night we went there, but it was difficult to find someone if something happened.
Hotel food: We booked a one-night stay and two meals. Although they were all vegetarian, they tasted surprisingly good. In addition, I ordered grape juice for my daughter, which tasted special in beige.
Hotel facilities: You can't ask for too much from the facilities of the shukubo. Try not to bring luggage. We stayed in a Japanese-style room on the third floor. If you bring luggage, it will be very difficult to carry it up the stairs by yourself. Plug: There is no USB, please bring enough two plugs; Toilet: Only on the first floor, no room, you need to run down every time if you live upstairs; Washing: Only in the bathroom on the first floor and near the men's bath, it is relatively simple, and there are no face wash and skin care products. Although the room has air conditioning and a gas stove, the overall temperature is not high and it is a bit cold, but surprisingly, the tatami is very warm. I looked at it and it turned out to be Nishikawa's down quilt. The hotel basically has a curfew at 9 pm.
Temple sightseeing: Buy a 1200 pass for Zenkoji Temple at the hotel. Volunteers will lead you to the temple for morning classes at 6:30 in the morning. As an experience, it is very good, but remind you to dress warmly. The time for listening to the chanting is a bit long. My feet are sore from the cold. The volunteers finish at about 8:30. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, you can go to Zenkoji Temple to buy amulets and worship on your own. There are many souvenirs and food, as well as Starbucks on the street directly opposite the main temple. If you are not very tired, you can walk back to Nagano.
We encountered heavy snow when we returned to the temple after breakfast. It felt very good. I wish you all a happy trip.
GGuest UserKind staff especially the lady who made sincere efforts to get my computer cords send to me that I left at hotel in Yamagata. She was the best. Everyone was kind too.
AAnonymous UserVery good location, just opposite the train station. Reception is on level 2, but staff is helpful to help carry luggages to and fro ground floor.
Room is small and toilet is squeezy, but still decent for a short stay. There is a Shampoo Bar at the reception to pick up stoiletries.
Breakfast is good, the complimentary soba noodles on selected weekday nights is also great. Nice view from the 10th floor, and also free space for customers to chill during the day.
Water was not provided complimentary to customers but instead was earned through a game.
