Hotels near Hyeonchungtab Memorial Tower, Gapyeong-gun

Former Australia soldiers of 3 RAR travelled to Kapyong, to commemorate the Battle of Kapyong 24 April 1951 (in 2025). This brilliant accommodation is located a 2 min stroll over the Gyeonggi-do river to the Australia & NZ memorial, where a friendly well equipped convenience store sits below it. The Host property was spotless, as picture online and well maintained. The owner aims to be non invasive (monitoring from Wi-Fi cameras on the outside of the property) and to protect it. He saw our struggles attempting to light fire on a cold night and quickly drove down to assist :). The lovely store holder closed up shop (when we tried to order food) to take us down to his local family restaurant (for authentic Korean food, which to tried to offer for free and we persistently and politely declined, fantastic local hospitality towards us and in general. The host then drove us back into the Gapeyoung Train station when we tried to order a Taxi. Fantastic experience and would stay here again and highly recommend it. We had an amazing time here! Three of us booked a tent for three people, it had bunk beds and a queen sized bed and slept us all very comfortably. You have a private bathroom and shower with additional bathrooms near the camp store. There’s a ton of fun snack and etc. to buy at the camp store and a ton of things you can use and take for free (only thing to note is you have to pay through bank transfer if the workers are not around). The owners were amazing and offered pick up and transportation to Seorak bus or train station. We papagoed any complicated communication but were able to talk mostly fine with our extremely limited Korean skills. Highly, highly recommend and I will definitely book here again!!

Let me start by saying I chose this hotel as it was close to the Canadian memorial and hill 677 where Canada put a fierce resistance during the Korean war. My father fought here and I wanted to see it. The hotel room was small, very clean, and comfortable. The most amazing thing was the couple that owed it. They were so helpful and offered to drive me to the memorial, get me taxis, provided me coffee and cookies. Their hospitality was far above the 5 star rating I can give. P.s. I'm in my 60's and made it up the hill, walking to the fighting positions. I has a wonderful time here. Great people, very nice stay. Thank you once again. Highly recommended.

We are a family from Germany and stayed for two nights. We were extremely happy with the accommodation – the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. We actually arrived one day earlier than booked, and he took great care of us, even inviting us for dinner! The cozy place was very well equipped – a large TV, a fully stocked kitchen, and very comfortable beds. We truly appreciated the owner’s wonderful hospitality. Thank you so much again!

Nice resort, it is 5km (around 8 mins) away from Nami Island Ticketing Counter. Easy to take Uber Ride from the roadside of Nami Island Ticketing Counter (Tips: try to find the nearest waiting spot pointed in the Uber app). SS Resort itself has a very nice ambience, check in is at the Basement where the Cafe is (open 9am-9pm). Annie is such a lovely lady, our family enjoys hanging out at the Cafe, it has small selections of finger food & nice coffee with reasonable pricing. The fried rice is our favourite. The room is clean with nice linen, the kitchen also well equipped, we can heat up quick meal anytime we want to. There is microwave & fridge available as well. The view from the window is amazing, direct view of the lake & island. It was snowing during our last night stay, we woke up to see the lake half covered with snow, it was so pretty! We’d love to visit SS Resorts again in the future. We stayed at SS7, it has 2 Queen Beds, and the resort also very kind to provide us with extra foldable beds & blankets to cater to our family. The heater also worked well, we were quite warm. One tips: our room happened to be at 2nd floor, it is better to pack smaller bags / duffle bags, so that it is easier to carry when climbing the staircase. Overall we find it still ok, we really like the place.

Wow...the pension was sooo very lovely, cozy, BIG, clean, inexpensive and was stocked with EVERYTHING! (It looked exactly like the pictures on their site.) The view was spectacular, as well! It was a short, 5-minute walk from The Garden of Morning Calm and was around the corner from a 7-Eleven, so it was sooo very convenient! The host seemed very sweet, as well, although my Korean friend is the one who spoke with him. I will definitely stay there, once again, in the near future! The view was absolutely fantastic. There was absolutely nothing else around. You just need to take whatever you need. I was thankful that the pension owner was outside and offered to buy me what I needed when I got in. I was grateful for that.

Everything was great. I do suggest though that they offer some form of cutlery, like spoons, especially since they offer coffee. Overall, the location and set up was great for what we needed and it was situated conveniently for us to walk around and go to the convenience stores. The bus terminal was right there to take us to Nami Island and the subway close by as well. Everything went well ☺️

whilst the location is fabulous, the check in experience leaves very little to be desired for. upon arriving (after a long drive from Gyeongju), we could not find anyone at the property. We didnt know that the neighbours there were not part of the property so when we knocked on their door, they got a little annoyed at us, and that we were bothering them. We ended up having to call the numnber listed on the booking site, but the problem was that the person who picked up the phone couldnt speak any english - and i kept saying check in, and he kept saying 4pm. All i wanted for him to do was to show up in person to check us in, not tell me that check in time is 4pm, which I already know! he then hung up after trying to communicate with us. so we waited and waited and called and called and called, and then, when we were just to give up to find another place to stay, a lady turned up and asked my name. We then got checked in. the room was beautiful - it was a lot bigger than what we needed. there were no chairs in the room so my poor partners' back was in pain because he couldnt really sit on the floor. the floor was also very hot through the night so we couldnt really sleep as the heat came through the floor mattress.

The Owner was so nice and ^^ they can speak in English very well and they’re very accommodating . The place was so nice but the thing is we ddnt enjoy much staying there because we almost 6 pm and we need to check out 11 am in the morning . The weather is so good little bit cold but it will be more fun in the summer ^^ We didn’t have chance to play and roam outside bcoz we woke up late and we need to pack up early so we can go other places . And its closer to Petite francw . The toilet is okey its clean ^^ the room is so nice too and its affordable
