There's no way anyone could feasibly give Glenfield Lodge 5* and I'm sure the owners don't even strive for that. It's less than a mile from the city centre and is basic - it's mainly used by companies to accommodate construction workers during the week. The room had a working basic TV, kettle, and sink. The toilet and bathroom (both very clean and functional) were at the end of the passage. The building is tired internally. No doubt about that. It is a place just to sleep but - here's the rest of it. The gentleman on duty was polite, friendly and thorough. Even though we were only staying for one night we were treated very well. The beds and bedding were clean and very comfortable. To our surprise, it was extremely quiet. Either no one stats there at the weekends or the residents are very considerate. And now the biggest thing - £37 for a twin room booked only a few days in advance. Incredible value for money.

We stayed at this hotel as a couple as we were attending an event at the rugby stadium, which is literally 30 seconds walk away. The room was absolutely spotless! Well kept and had everything we needed and more, hairdryer that actually dried my hair, iron/board, fridge, safe, kettle, even a posh coffee machine. The bathroom, well wow, it is a little small but to be honest, not too small. The shower, wow, there was a hole in the shower door so you could start the shower from the outside! It was also a handy hole for reaching my toiletries. The TV was great and room service was reasonably prices and pretty speedy! All of the staff we had contact with were friendly and looked happy to be there!! I've stayed in hotels from Fiji to Blackpool, from Glasgow to New Zealand and this rates in the top! We will definitely be staying here again.

I loved it so much I didn't want to leave. It would be my go-to place whenever I'm in Leicester again. The receptionist was lovely as well. It's easy and very much comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone.

Only one towel was available not the most hygiene of rooms. Location is great

Most things about this apartment are great - easy access, right next to a supermarket, clean and spacious room. Nice communal area and kitchen with breakfast food and coffee machine. The person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Wifi worked well. Was notified that housekeeping is every 4 days. Easy 10 minutes on the bus from Leicester station/city centre. I would recommend bringing noise-cancelling headphones if you are a light sleeper. It is next to a busy road and the walls are VERY thin. I was kept up on several nights by the person in the next room snoring, shouting over the phone at 6am, and listening to loud music throughout the night. Not the hotel’s fault and hopefully not a fixture, but given the other reviews, bring headphones!

I stayed at the Marriott for business and was there for 3 nights. It was the first time I’d stayed there and on arrival the reception was pretty basic with very little information shared about the hotel. It set the tone for my stay: The room was ok but tired. There was no soap in the bathroom and there were hairs on the floor. That said it was vey quiet and the bed was very comfortable My keycard wasn’t enabled for the executive lounge which was part of the package with the room I had paid for. This was an oversight on the unwelcoming arrival. I’d asked for the room to be cleaned each day. This happened the first two days and on the third it didn’t. I had no clean glasses or water in the room which then led me to get passed to and fro from reception to the bar until someone was prepared to give me a clean glass and a bottle of water. The restaurant was busy and they were understaffed. My food arrived before my drink and when it did arrive the glass had a large crack all the way round. It would have been nice to not have to wait 20 mins for a drink too. The wifi in the hotel, including the executive lounge, was very poor and the phone reception was so bad I had to sit in my car to make calls. Not acceptable for a hotel offering business services. I spoke with the duty manger the morning I left to provide feedback as I didn’t want to just leave without saying anything (I’d tried to speak to reception about a couple of the issues while I was there but was given no help). The lady I met was nice and did apologise and she took my email and said she would speak to the manager and come back to me. 3 full days later and not a word which doesn’t give me confidence for their customer service and things improving for future stays. On a positive note the bar and restaurant staff (except the lady on the restaurant reception) were very polite and helpful despite being run off their feet. A big shout out for Lenka too in the Executive lounge. She was the best ambassador for the hotel by far. I am in Leicester once a month now with a new job and despite the Marriott being the closest hotel, I won’t be staying there next time after my experience and their seeming lack of interest in my experience as a customer.

Hotel rooms small but spotless. Desk staff were amazing. Of all hotels I've ever stayed in these guys were so polite helpful and pleasant. Couldn't praise them enough. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in the area. Cheap and cheerful.

Now the OYO Blaby Hotel. In would have given a higher score but they don’t yet have a restaurant. However they are soon opening a South Indian restaurant which will be a real improvement. The front of the hotel needs some renovation as do the garden areas around the car park but work seems to be underway. The staff were very friendly and helpful with our early check in. We had room 31 which is a family room. It was very big with a TV lounge area and double bed, a big ensuite bathroom and a separate area with two single beds. It was a bargain as we paid £90 for three of us. Although it doesn’t currently have a restaurant it is next to a Chinese restaurant and very close to the Old Vicarage pub which serves food plus several good cafes in Blaby who serve breakfast. There is also a well equipped gym in the hotel included in the room price. An absolute bargain.

This hotel is a god-send if you need to be anywhere near Loughborough University. A great location, I was asked to pay for the two rooms booked on arrival. Not sure if that's the norm but went with it. Had one smaller than expected twin room and one adjoining accessible room, which was much roomier. The old system of using your door key to get the electrics on exists. Yet there is no second room key offered, so that you don't have to take the electricity key out when in and out. I had to ask, as it would have meant leaving one of my relatives without heat and light. One luggage trolley is available and possibly in demand if you have more than the normal amount of luggage, which we did. The bathroom towel heaters did not work, although the switch was on. The main light in the hallway of the accessible room did not work. Who checks the rooms before they are occupied? Burleigh Court needs to take a lead from Premier in, where rates aren't much different, but where a Hypnos bed ensures a great nights sleep! The beds felt cheap, uncomfortable and synthetic, especially the pillows. The doors to the rooms were obviously fire doors, but this meant they slammed if you didn't prevent them from dong so. At a 2am slammed door woke us up and at 6am the same happened as conference customers left their rooms. Avoided the £14 per head English breakfast. Got the same down the road in a bun for less than a fiver. The long walk to the restaurant meant you'd be hungry again anyway! Not an inclusive option for those with accessible needs e.g the elderly and disabled. What we loved: The location The fact you could open the windows! - what a luxury, to ensure you had fresh air. The size of the accessible room and the fact it had an adjoining door to the twin. The small fridge in each room meant we could buy bottled water The free drinks tokens meant a great welcome if you drank alcohol. Would definitely stay there again, even with the sound from the American football team in the nearby sports field.

Visited for 1 night mid week in the middle of February. On the room booking I added that we’d like to eat in the restaurant at about 6pm and that we’d require gluten free options at breakfast as my partner is coeliac. Check in was simple and as I was about to ask about dinner I was told we had a table at 6 booked for us. The room was big and has plenty of space, comfy bed and a decent tea and coffee selection is provided. Excellent dinner in the evening with plenty of gluten free options across the menu. Breakfast was where it stepped up even further. You get a standard buffet style continental breakfast with plenty of choice of pastries, cereals, fruit, meats and cheese. But on the table was an extensive selection of gluten free pastries and cereals all covered ready for us. We will be returning whenever we’re visiting the Town Hall
