Great stay. Great service. Our 1st trip in 15 months. The only reason we did not rate a 5 on clean, hotel was under covid rules, rooms were not being cleaned daily, so could not rate this part. What are Trip coins?

This is a very nice facility with indoor pool, but staff attitudes were extremely poor. I witnessed several rude interactions with other guests and heard reports of several more. We booked the best room in the place for a week (King Suite with veranda over the pool and jetted tub), but our keys timed out every day until I complained...no excuse for that. Both day and night shift employees shared the same poor attitude, but it was the gal on nights who was just plain rude and off putting, being on the phone with friends more than anything else. The person who appeared to be the day manager was a bit better. All the staff allowed some pretty shady characters they seemed to know to hang out in the back parking lot in their cars for hours on end. These were not guests but probably the local drug dealer posting up in his usual location. That happened every day, well into the evening hours. The motel is located away from the historic downtown, across the river near restaurants, Wal-Mart, etc. It's a great location as it's very easy to drive or ride out of town without fighting traffic. Breakfast does not even qualify as ”continental” with only packaged cereal, packaged danishes, coffee and juice. Without adding to employee work load, the motel could easily add fresh fruit, and many comparable motels offer a LOT more than that. We ate breakfast there ONE morning just to get on the road as quickly as possible; other than that, the offerings weren't even worth the effort of walking into the dining space. Our bed was our biggest problem: In the best room in the place, we got a King mattress that I can only describe as ”sacked out” and very hard. By the time our staff was complete, I had lower back and hip pain. I don't have those problems; it was the bed. That bed is one of the key reasons someone would rent that room at a premium price. The other significant reason to rent the (King suite with veranda and jetted tub) room is, obviously, the jetted tub. Using it was so laborious that we stopped trying after the second use. The faucet's flow was SO slow that it takes AT LEAST half an hour to fill to where the jets are covered when you get in the tub (which is required to turn on the jets, obviously). To get anything like reasonable fill times, I was using the ice bucket to transfer buckets of water from the sink nearby. It still took at least 20 minutes to fill the tub. That's just ridiculous. There was plenty of water pressure and volume in the sink, toilet, and shower; so, it's a problem with the tub fixtures or plumbing, not water supply to the room. I was also unpleasantly surprised that the most expensive room in the motel had a mini-fridge without any freezer at all. That's not premium. During our stay, a storm passed through the area and knocked out all but one leg of 110V power to the motel. This left many rooms without power and knocked out WiFi service and the satellite TV service for more than a day, well after power was restored. Even though power was still in the building, staff did nothing at all to temporarily connect either WiFi or satellite systems to the working power (with an extension cord to the equipment or similar). Lots of tenants left the motel, especially family guests. Staff allowed tenants with power to continue to use AC units in their rooms even though they were surely damaged by running on a single leg of power (on a 220V unit)...that's just irresponsible (although I understand it from a customer service point of view). The pool looks nice, but we didn't use it. It was closed at odd times even though it was supposed to be open 10am to 10pm. On our arrival day, for instance, it was already closed at dinner time (and remained so the whole evening). The hot tub space in the pool area has been bricked up; it doesn't exist now. Housekeeping was very good and extremely responsive to requests. I'd give the motel a 3 of 5 stars at best which is a shame since it's a nice facility with great location.
