The Culpeper Bedrooms

We stayed here for one night but wish it could have been longer there’s a great bar downstairs and an excellent restaurant on the first floor the bedrooms are really great and the whole building is shabby chic everyone that worked there was very friendly and the wonderful breakfast is a minutes walk to a sister building

I was intimidated when searching for a hotel in London due to the high prices, and thought the Culpeper seemed like a great bargain. We loved the neighborhood and found many walkable areas for shopping, drinks, and dining. Access to 2 underground stations was also a quick walk away. We arrived after 10PM and had no issues checking in, and the staff was kind enough to help lug our heavy bags up the stairs. The rooms were well decorated with high ceilings and functional windows for fresh air. The bathroom is a bit small and dark but the shower was excellent. I was worried about the pub being loud, but we didn't hear anything from the building and were unbothered by any crowds outside. I did find that the street noise from passing cars and sirens kept me up, but we aren't accustomed to city noise! The pub was always busy and it was so nice to be able to pop down for a pint. We also dined at the restaurant which was delicious with excellent service, and we appreciated the guest discount. The free breakfast was at their sister restaurant about a block away and it was fabulous. We didn't want to try anywhere else! Overall I would agree that the Culpeper was a great bargain and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a short, comfortable stay in a great area of London.

Check in was fine, called and messaged to ensure room was clean, because it was a bday celebration, lots of stray hair on bed and throw(on bed) otherwise clean. Good breakfast and terrace bar. Check out was horrible, seems like there is no one person in charge, two girls who had 0 hospitality experience were rude, declined requests to honour a checkout at 12 pm, fine but then act completely pathetic after I hand over the keys, keeps staring at me while I sit in the pub downstairs and check emails, do not thank me for my stay, has a rude and condescending demeanour as if I was paid to stay at their hotel! the entire time. Really off putting the two women were - they need a degree in hospitality and relevant experience.

Location was great, staff all friendly and helpful. Bedroom was small but perfectly formed, grateful for the fan and windows we could open wide in the lovely weather we had. Roof terrace is great for the breakfast which was included in the room rate. Lovely food and good Gin choices! Definitely recommend.

This is above a pub. It is near Liverpool St and East End. Friendly service, decent rooms and great prices. They do breakfast, but I did not have the chance to try it. They give you first drink at the bar for free too. Good value for money - hotels in London are super expensive these days and this is a good way to manage costs.

Easy check-in. Staff keen to help. Free drink from the bar on arrival. Comfy bed.

The Culpeper Bedrooms tuck in almost unnoticed on the second floor of the Culpeper. Despite being close to the heart of the action in a perpetually busy pub, next to a main road, the room was peaceful, a perfect size, comfortable bed, great shower and everything needed to unwind properly (although no desk in the rooms, if you're travelling for business and want to work during your stay). Location good, too - all a ten minute walk from Liverpool Street station, for a competitive price. The only issue was at breakfast on check-out day - first person in the restaurant, ordered, waited 25 minutes, had to leave it to check out and head to work. I got the food to take away, nice but overall it was too slow. I'm happy to believe it was the exception to the rule - everything else about my stay at the Culpeper was great, and I'd highly recommend it.

I never write reviews but I feel I must warn other American travelers so they don’t get scammed as I did. I stayed at The Culpeper Bedrooms 10/28/22-11/1/2022. Everything about my stay was wonderful until I noticed that they charged my credit card twice. I brought it to the managers attention they asked for proof through email. I sent the proof of the charges they said they would look into it. After about a day I bring this up to the manager again they said they were investigating. Another day goes by and I once again ask about the status of this investigation they say that my refund was processed and I should see it reflected in my account in a few days. I ask for written proof as we were checking out soon. They send this request as I asked. Another few days pass by still no refund. I email them and no response. I email again two days later the manager responds saying their system rejected it and they will deposit it in my bank account. I ask what info they need to move this process along no one responds to my email. I email again a few days later letting them know I will be contacting my banking institution and report them for fraudulent charges and that I will file a police report as well. They respond to this email apologizing saying they will call me and get this sorted out right way. Another 24hrs has passed and still nothing. I have already reported them. Don’t stay here! This is a fraudulent business.

We really enjoyed this place. Nice and quirky with typical Spitalfields industrial chic fixtures etc. Breakfast on the roof was lovely but the pub/restaurant downstairs looked cool as well. Price very reasonable for the location and room surprisingly quiet despite the pub and the busy road. Complimentary drink was a nice touch as well.
