What a wonderful first time in Morocco! Stayed at Riad Sapphire and Spa, hosted by Abdo and Driss, whose hospitality ensured that we had an amazing experience from landing all the way to the end. They arranged for us to get picked up by a car and we were greeted and helped to the riad at the taxi point. We were led through the streets of Marrakesh to the beautiful riad, a calm and tranquil space in the labyrinthian city, where we were greeted with Moroccan tea and an introduction to the riad, our stay, and the area. Our room was a junior suite, the Cinnabar room, and it was spacious enough for 3. What a beautiful and comforable stay with daily housekeeping, air conditioning, and complimentary beauty products. And whatever incense used smelled great and added to the zen vibe of the space. We had dinner on the roof top our first night, and the veggie, meat, and cheese Briouattes were tasty and fun to eat. The fish Tagine was also rich in olive and tomato flavors. Every morning we were treated to a fruitful and delicious but simple breakfast of tea or coffee, bread, fruit, yogurt, and orange juice in the peaceful courtyard before we headed out for exploring the city. And the mornings where we had an early start to go on a tour excursion, the riad even arranged a healthy takeaway breakfast for us to fuel our adventures. Our last night at the riad, we also went with their Hammam package experience. If you've ever had a Korean spa scrub, this is like a gentler version conducted in a heated wet sauna space, and our hammam woman was extremely thorough. We were treated to a full body clay mask afterwards, and then the Goldilocks of all massages - it was neither so hard that I was crying in pain (like in Taiwan) or too light. My favorite part of the massage was the attentiveness paid to my legs, which are often under treated in massages in favor of the upper body shoulder area. Amazing oil massage, after which I felt completely relaxed and soft, sipping on more Moroccan mint tea and enjoying the fountain and courtyard space of the riad. Overall, I would highly recommend Riad Sapphire & Spa to anyone looking to stay on the Old City of Marrakesh! The hospitality was attentive and kind, and the entire team was friendly and hospitable.
