AC Hotel National Harbor Washington, DC Area

I live locally but stayed here for one night for a ”girl's night.” We chose this hotel for the location and the price. It's not cheap but it's not in the $300-$500 range of the other hotels. The positives: 1) You walk out the door and it is close to everything. You can also get views of the water, if you like. 2) Nice room: My room was super-clean with a comfy bed, wide windows and a big shower. There were lots of towels, a small fridge, bath products and a coffee maker. It's not a big room, but it's designed efficiently. I was comfortable. 3) Friendly staff: the front desk had two employees, a trainee and a regular. Both were very nice. The negatives: 1) The hallways are so dark you can barely see and I didn't feel safe. Get some lighting in there! 2) The air conditioning in the room is strong but automatically goes off when you're not moving or not in there. So you never cool down. And it's been nearly 100 degrees in DC these days. I wanted more control over the AC. 3) The lobby area needs an upgrade. The upholstery of the chairs is ripped and falling apart. On the balcony outside, the seats also need an upgrade. 4) It was certainly the noisiest room I have slept in. Between the AC (incredibly loud) and everything going on outside (it sounded like a garbage incinerator at one point), I didn't sleep well. Which was a shame because the bed was good. If I were coming to National Harbor for one night, I would probably stay here again. But if I were on vacation for 3 or more days, I'd stay at one of the other hotels.
