Sonder at the Vitascope

This place has so much potential but needs better property management. The good: The apar**ent rooms are well furnished and compared to comparable hotel rooms these are a great value. There are two full bedrooms for families with a King and Queen bed -Most adjacent hotels have full sized beds. There is a full sized living room with a modern kitchen and washer and dryer. The space was very comfortable. This apar**ent is located at the edge of the French Quarter. The bad: The elevator broke on day two. As you will read from many reviews the elevator is usually broken. There was no remediation. This older building has nice high ceilings which you will not appreciate walking up and down three flights of stairs. The alley contains many dumpsters from the adjacent building. You will be woken up throughout the night when these are emptied. Sonder needs to invest in triple pane windows adjacent to the alley. If the noise and elevator were addressed I would give 5 stars.

The Vitascope was beautiful. Spacious, clean, and in a perfect location. The elevator was broken for a full 24 hours though, and staying on the 3rd made it difficult. We had to carry very heavy luggage down 3 fights. But... a great stay in New Orleans!!!

I feel like a five star review should be reserved for the most extraordinary experiences, but I can also say that I don't really have any complaints about this Sonder. Access to the building and unit was smooth, the apar**ent was as described, clean, and comfortable. There were no noise issues, save for a trash truck one morning, but that's to be expected. The location was excellent, water pressure was fine, tap water was drinkable, beds were comfortable, bath towels adequate. We weren't in the apar**ent much, so we didn't have a need to test the kitchen, but everything appeared to be in working order. My only disappoin**ent was that they offer limited free luggage storage, which sounds like a great perk until you realize it's about 6 lockers and impossibly competitive. Luckily, there are storage alternatives in the neighborhood. I would gladly stay at another Sonder again.

We had a terrible experience with Sonder in New Orleans in June 2022 when attending a conference. We initially booked Sonder the Baronne (convenient for location) and to our surprise, after 12 hours of flight and waiting until 4 pm for check in, the codes provided in previous correspondence didn't work. We didn't have wifi so we went backwards and forwards to the closest starbucks to be able to communicate with them. Eventually we found out that they had some sort of management problems and they have changed us to a different location (Canal st). All without letting us know in advance. When we arrive at the next location, we had less rooms than originally requested and there were no wifi login codes anywhere to be found. We were lucky a neighbor let us use hers to communicate with Sonder customer service (which by the way, was terrible). Eventually we were told that the situation will resolve the next day and that we can do the check in on the original place at 4 pm. Unfortunately, check out on Canal st is at 11 am, so that forced us to roam the city from 11 to 4 with our heavy suitcases at 100F. Overall lack of communication, terrible customer service and the place was dirty and specially noisy. We will never again use Sonder

Very comfortable bedding and pillows. Great working air conditioning, which can really be a challenge in New Orleans. Very responsive to questions through the app. Super convenient location. Fabulous view. Very quiet space. Very clean.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Vitascope and definitely recommend. It is centrally located to everything. The French quarter is walkable and the trolley is just outside. The area is very busy and there is a lot going on but once you walk into your place it's extremely quiet. It's an apar**ent layout and I loved having my own room, I would have never been able to afford all the amenities anywhere else. The beds are very comfortable as well! Would come back here for a third time!

Very nice, clean place to stay. Had all appliances needed for kitchen supplies. They also sent reminders for trip alert. Communication excellent. Located a block away from bourbon street and across from cafe beignet. Yummy!!

I stayed at a Sonder Airbnb on Canal Street that was beautiful. You can be confused and prematurely judge the place by the outside maroon door in between Voodoo Chicken & Voodoo Mart, but don't stop, Go In! It's a beautiful building with historic brick walls upon entry and nice artwork. It's a bit hot in halls of but the units have AC are Exactly as the photo shows. The decor is well designed. Perfect location to walk to Bourbon, Riverwalk, Harrah's & tons of food restaurants.

I was set to stay at a Sonder property in the business district near Canal. I received a message at 3pm (4pm check-in) that my apar**ent had maintenance issues and they had found me a unit in another location similar. I was placed in an apar**ent building on Canal between Camp and Royal. This apar**ent was STUNNING! Seriously the nicest place I’d ever stayed in my 20+ trips to NOLA over the last decade. I had two hiccups during my stay which I won’t even go into detail about since their customer service went above and beyond to make it right. I called with the first issue which was resolved in minutes and used the chat feature for the second which was solved nearly as quickly. You cannot beat the service received at Sonder. I’m so glad I have their app now because I’ll be looking to book with them first. I can’t give any feedback on the original Duncan property however 623 Canal is incredible (best bed I’ve slept in besides my own too!) and I wish they would let me buy the unit! Don’t hesitate- book!
