We went to the pub for a lunchtime meal while we were property hunting. We were made very welcome and although it was just before lunchtime the food was cooked and on the table in a very short time and before the listed start of lunchtime. We were made very welcome and had a good chat about why we were in the area and found out what was nearby and worth visiting and where to shop. Even if we do not proceed with the purchase, we will visit again . The food was fresh and hot and really tasty. My Husband had scampi and the best chips that we have had for a long time and I had sausage and lovely buttery mash and gravy. Delicious. Thank you for the great welcome and conversations.

Been there a year or so ago and decided to go back, it’s under new management. Food was lovely and staff very friendly. Food came in responsible time and was well presented. Menu was limited but chef has only been there a week so understandable.

We visited for Sunday lunch. The beef was excellent! Perfectly cooked and presented. Homemade Yorkshire puddings are to die for! Our children were made very welcome. After lunch a folk group played some really good foot tapping tunes....Great experience all round. We will definitely be back next month.

Just dropped in to the Grove Arms whilst on a long walk. Welcomed in despite muddy boots. Ordered the cottage pie - it was one of the best I have had; home cooked with a selection of seasonal vegetables -fab. Apparently, the cook/chef is new, if everything on the menu is as good as the cottage pie then you won't be disappointed. I will be back

Dropped in for a drink at around 7pm. Sat and had this and we were told at 7:30 that the pub was closing! This is a new manager and we had hopes after the previous had just about run the place into the ground. We have now vowed never to go in again as, having driven by a few times, it still seems to have the same lack of opening hours.

Just weird experience, no choice for snacks for lunch , just main meals , not a very welcoming pub by owners/staff. Not sure if we hit a bad day for them , or whether this was usual guest experience . Whichever it was it put us off a return visit

Popped in for a drink. Bar closed before 7pm and it was only a few days before Xmas. Pub was cold with no heating on. Beer wasn't good either. Bitter was cloudy. If a pub is like this just before Xmas I dread to think what it will be like in quieter times.

The Grove Arms is a lovely pub. Heather behind the bar was friendly and breakfast cooked by Dan was excellent. We asked to change rooms after the first night as we had a room at the top (5) with sloping ceilings and two uncomfortable single beds rather than a double. The second room (4) was perfect - although you do get road noise. BUT…the beer was run down and the staff were sadly at a loss as this pub is either on the market or soon to be closed down. The chef starts a new job next week which apparently will result in continental breakfast only from next week. A real shame

Midweek stay for 2 nights for us and our cocker spaniel…..and we were not disappointed with our lovely and relaxing time at the Grove Arms. Plenty of carparking at the back of the hotel/pub. Easy check-in, Heather showed us to our room at the back of the hotel which we had requested as the main road is quite busy. Dinner on the first night was excellent, Butchers Faggots, mash & gravy for me and Risotto for my wife. Full English breakfast on both mornings was superb. All cooked fresh to order and all ingredients were great quality. You can help yourself to cereal, toast, orange juice and fresh fruit whilst waiting for the cooked breakfast. ‘Steak Night’ dinner on the 2nd night was simply gorgeous. We had sirloin (alternative was rump) which was one of the best seasoned and tastiest steaks we've had for a long time. Homemade sticky toffee pudding with custard and lemon cheesecake were divine too. Big shout out to Dan as a great chef and a huge asset to any establishment. Room was very clean with good quality sheets and duvet. Fluffy towels in the bathroom. Nice touch to have a fan (which we needed in this hot spell), ironing board and iron in the wardrobe. Heather is a polite and efficient manager. Working hard both the bar and restaurant tables and still having time to stop and chat with guests. A great short stay and highly recommended.
