my original review is at the bottom, because Tripadvisor does not allow edits to reviews or updates (seems ridiculous to not have that feature) I wanted to update. Review is still not perfect as they are still doing renovations and the actual exp I had but once renovations are done this will be a great place to stay 5 stars. management contacted me and was very apologetic about the stay and offered wonderful incentives to make up for the experience I had. they are very open and fair and will try to do the right thing to correct a situation. should you experience something unfortunate at this hotel know that management will take it seriously and truly cares about making things right. I now trust this place completely and feel comfortable knowing anyone I direct here will have their expectations met. I can't mention enough about the staff! Other hotels should start poaching these employees or figure out the training they go though or management techniques. It is NOTICABLE how switched on and caring the staff is. You'll have to go to find out what amazing staff this place has they truly make you feel welcome and seem truly happy to be working there. -original review After a long drive to get to a hotel room that has a horrible musty smell is one thing that could be tolerated. I’m not a fancy person and was debating if I could just deal but when my partner stepped on some spikes from the carpet that was enough to be done. The protector ***** that normal places have from the room to the bathroom tile was missing. Further to that I scraped my hand on one of the exit doors that had some rusty metal from previous holes that were made in it. I would not think this place is safe for kids at all based on how much danger seems to be everywhere. If you must book considering they were doing renovations demand that you are put in a renovated room or don’t go. Fine if desperate to not sleep in your car but it literally is the bottom of the scale of what one would expect from a hotel.

Comfort Inn Ottawa East

It's a Comfort Inn, so a bare bones motels. But, during COVID-19 they have gone below bare bones.....which is impressive in itself! Room was clean and had a fridge, microwave, TV, Iron, Iron board, alarm clock, phone, 2 sets of towels, shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer. Motel authorized $100 on my credit card for ”Amenities”.....LOL...... sorry you have no amenities, say it like it is a ”Damage Deposit”. What has changed is: They have coffee maker in the room, but no coffee. Sorry but not sure how COVID would be spread by making coffee in your room. No hairdryer in the room. The vending machine was almost empty. The air conditioner was HORRIBLE, no more than a fan and during a heat wave, this sucked! Couldn't sleep because it was so hot. No continental breakfast, but they do have a bagged breakfast of orange juice, yogurt and a cheap granola bar. This could be SO much better, there are bagged muffins and fruit that should be in the bag. The motel is within walking distance of the Lone Star restaurant which was great! Overall NOT impressed, and will suggest to the company not to book me here again.
Econo Lodge Downtown Ottawa

I have visited this property several years ago and it was really run down. But now there is no change. The rooms need to be painted as there is paint peeling off the wall! The check-in staff were really rude and didn’t recognize I was a choice member. One thing I might add I don’t know if all rooms have been renovated and look the same as it’s a problem with some Econolodge hotels that every room looks different. Room: I had a 2 queen bedroom on the 1st floor exterior corridor. The bed sheets were yellow and the room didn’t look modern at all there was mould in the bathroom and the floors didn’t look clean. The coffee maker was dirty and the coffee didn’t taste good at all. I didn’t enjoy the beds as they were uncomfortable the heater was so loud and smelt weird. There was no fridge or microwave in the room even though the guy on the phone said there is in all rooms. Breakfast: I do want to say that the breakfast was a bit week and didn’t have much variety though. I think the rooms should get newer coffee makers and better coffee and the amenities in the bathroom were a bit cheap. Overall my stay was very miserable and was not up to my expectations of any hotel budget or not. I would stay away as this isn’t even my a good deal! Unless changes are made I will not be staying here!
Hampton Inn by Hilton Ottawa

Very clean! Nice sized room and nicely decorated. Beds comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection. Coffee and tea all day. Coffee maker in room. The only complaint is that when entering the ”entrance” sign is at the exit. It is a one way and makes no sense where they put the sign. Underground parking which is great for cold Ottawa winters. Just go right up from your parking spot.

I rarely stay in hotels however I came to Ottawa to celebrate a kilometerstone (milestone for Americans ;-) birthday and decided to splurge a little. I was able to talk a friend into coming with me. I first saw this hotel on TripAdvisor, went to their own website and found I could book 4 nights for $119/nt. I spent about an hour looking around some of the big Internet travel sites and found the exact room promoted on one of them for $89! I called the hotel and asked if they price matched. After about 10min of them looking online to find the promo I was looking at, the shift supervisor approved the match! I had to agree to pay for all 4 nights whether I used them or not. I didn't care because I was coming! The location is GREAT, next to TransCanada/417 highway. That was very convenient as I had to drive to Carp the next morning and that was the highway I used. I was on that expressway 2 minutes after leaving the hotel! Check in was fast and efficient. The person checking me in was confused when I told her I was on a $89 promo, she had not heard about it but eventually found some notes on my reservation in the computer. Even though there was free parking, I wanted to leave the car at the hotel most days and take public transit downtown. I had heard even with the government shut down, parking was scarce and expensive in the city center. On check in I happened to ask how close a bus stop was to take us downtown as I wanted to do the double deck Grayline tour on Sunday and Monday. The desk clerk said I didn't need to take the city bus as the double deck bus picked up their guests every morning at 9am at the hotel! BONUS! I'm glad I asked. Our room was on the fourth floor and included two very comfortable Queen beds with 7” mattresses and fluffy comforters, a very nice bathroom, 40” LCD TV, small refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. They also had WiFi that worked great! There was only one ceramic cup and one plastic cup for the first night, we would have liked two ceramic cups but it was too late to call down and ask. Both my friend and I noted how quiet the surroundings were. Almost the entire floor had booked rooms for two nights but we didn't hear much noise. Also, we were on the back side of the hotel not facing the street or highway so that may have contributed to it. If I were to return, I would ask for a first floor room on the same side of the hotel as each had direct access to the parking lot. Although the room was very clean and comfortable, there were not enough electrical plugs and the only available one to plug in my cell phone and computer was so worn out that the cables would not stay in the plug. I always bring extra cables, I had a long extension that ran from near the head of my bed to the table at the other end of the room. Without it, I would not have been able to charge my devices. One thing that would help is a USB hub of some sort on the night table - maybe a hotel lamp with USB hub built in. That would hav
Lord Elgin Hotel

We stayed at Lord Elgin in September for a wedding, which suggested a stay at this hotel. The location is fantastic, you can walk to many historical Ottawa spots, restaurants, etc. The room was a nice size, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the hotel was quiet/soundproof. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was nice too. There were a few downsides. I didn’t upgrade our room to one with a special view, but I wasn’t expecting to be 15ft from an office where we could clearly see each other. The bathroom door was a pocket door that didn’t fully close, with no fan available, so hopefully you aren’t shy with your travel pal. Valet was $35 a night plus tax, however local car parks were similar, so that seems to be unavoidable. Altogether it was a reasonably priced stay and our expectations were basically met.

Good service, good location, in the residential area next to City Hall, quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The kitchen is perfect (although the equipment is a little old), the bathroom is a bit small, but if you need to find a kitchen, you can choose
