Food a little disappointing at breakfast especially continental. Nice staff throughout hotel. Fabulous room and setting.

What a beautiful place to stay! Stunning doesn’t do justice - the wonderful woodland grounds and then the house!! We booked as a deal following a gift voucher at Xmas. The rooms are individually designed and whilst I have limited mobility, I called a few days before we went, staff were helpful and booked me a ground floor room. As an old historic building there are stone stairs and each have been fitted with stair lifts! So thoughtful - there is also a lift in the main area close to reception. You can’t describe how beautiful this is - you simply have to go! Quintessential England - even if it was built in 1840 and not a Norman building!! Our room had everything you wanted, plenty of space and whilst the shower was over the bath, it was hot and powerful. We ate in the bar restaurant - lovely wagu burger on first night and a tasty mushroom risotto on the second night - others had the curry and fish and chips and all said they enjoyed them. I thought dessert was not great - had the Eton mess but for the price I thought it was not good value. The cellar bar was cleverly done and the cocktails were good! The area behind reception was a great place for us to sit after dinner and relax with a game we brought with us. We will look to go back for another visit - even the unexpected 03.00 fire alarm didn’t put us off - it’s good to know your safe and staff are around and organised even at that time!!

The castle is beautiful and full of character so was a lovely place to stay, the room was really comfy and spacious. Checkin staff were lovely but the waiting and bar service really let down our stay. We ate in the brasserie and it was really poor, slow service, very limited menu, no atmosphere, and the staff were completely uninterested. In the bar, which is a really nice space, I ordered two cocktails and the barman was reading instructions on the wall then had to leave to ask someone how to make them, given that the cost was £24 they really should have staff who know their menu. To be charged 10% on top for service was too much and I asked for it to be removed. They add service to everything which I wouldn't mind so much if there was actually good service. Breakfast staff were better but the cooked breakfast wasn't great, the bacon was cold and the toast was warm bread. Overall I wouldn't stay again which is a shame but the service really let it down.

Worst Afternoon Tea Ever ! Dirty tables laden with leftover food and dirty crockery all around us for the whole time (see photos) - small under-filled sandwiches with poor quality fillings, small scones 1/3 of a normal size scones, teaspoon of jam between two people, had to ask for top up of tea and coffee, waiter not exactly rushed off his feet so no excuse for messy tables - shame as a beautiful location & Castle- probably better opting for a walk around and a light lunch off the lunchtime menu which looked better - avoid the afternoon tea!

Visited for afternoon tea. The castle is lovely and very well kept as are the grounds. Staff lovely and very helpful. Great choice of drinks, nice sandwich selection and nice cake selection. Afternoon tea was lovely. My only criticism is we had to ask for more tea and the offer of extra sandwiches would have been appreciated. We could have asked and next time I will but I don't think we should have too. Would recommend.

Had stayed here once previously when I was Best Man at a Wedding in 2003. Thought I would return with my wife as a treat for our upcoming anniversary. Have to say that overall it was a bit of a letdown. The greeting by the receptionist on our arrival was lukewarm at best and I advise she gets further training on how to greet paying guests. It was like we were inconveniencing her! We were given room 104 which as we were to find out was right down where the wedding of the day was going on which later on proved to be problematic as the music, incredibly loud, continued until midnight. They really should locate guests who are not part of the wedding at the other side of the hotel. It was ridiculous. The bar for normal residents is also located at the far end of the hotel and although there is a small bar located in the restaurant near the entrance you are not allowed to use that unless you are in the restaurant. The bar is poorly staffed and you can expect a wait of up to 10 minutes if no one is around. The evening meal was nice in the brasserie bar and the portion size was good. Checking out turned into a bit of a farce. I strongly advise you to get an itemized bill as they try to sneak on extra charges or 'forget' to apply agreed promotions. At no point were were we told that a £10 deposit for the room key would be put against our room and only after requesting for an itemized bill, after seeing it was much higher than we had accounted for, did we see this on there along with them 'forgetting' to take off £50 for the evening meal. Eventually this was corrected but I can only imagine how £10 deposit they have managed to pocket from unsuspecting guests. It's a nice little earner for them. For such a high end establishment their customer service on the reception is very, very poor. Would we return? Probably not.

Castle stay via a Red Letter Day gift. On arrival to the castle grounds spirits were high ! Excited to see what this hotel had to offer. We tied in with our stay the Land Rover driving experience which was fantastic. Unfortunately the overnight stay in the castle was very disappointing. In a nutshell once there, there is very little on offer for residential guests! No atmosphere within the castle, no grounds to explore without leaving the estate. This venue is obviously geared up for weddings and wedding guests only, who I can imagine would have an amazing experience - however, for those on a mini break away not so amazing. On arrival, after checking in and finding our way to the room up the stone staircase and spiral staircase which was fun, we found our room which was very tired and shabby, chipped furniture, tired bathroom. We were looking forward to finding a nice bar to sit and unwind before our evening meal in the 1851 restaurant. We were disappointed to find there wasn’t a bar open for residential guests - we were advised to go to the Brasserie to get a drink and take to the lounge area. The Brasserie was a very drab room, no windows, no views, lacking atmosphere - more like a cafe than a Brasserie. A couple was having afternoon tea - it was all very underwhelming, not where you would expect to have afternoon tea in a castle! We decided to leave the castle to find somewhere to relax, we found an awesome pub/hotel nearby called the Pheasant Inn. - highly recommended, beautiful pub/food with amazing views! Evening meal in the castle - On the plus side the 1851 restaurant was very nice and the food was good. A buffet style breakfast is also provided in this restaurant which was adequate.

My wife & myself spent our 47th Wedding Anniversary at Peckforton Castle. It exceeded my expectations by 100%. The castle is set in beautiful grounds. The Ladies on reception were superb .They changed our room to a superior room & the entire staff could not have done more to make our stay very memorable. The room was a good size, well equipped with a very comfortable bed, a very modern bathroom. We had dinner & breakfast in the 1851 Restaurant where the Service & the food were wonderful. I would highly recommend Peckforton Castle to anyone who wants to celebrate in style.

A HUGE thank you to the team at Peckforton for helping us to mark our 1 Year Wedding Anniversary this week - we honestly couldn't have wished for more. It was made so special for us at so many points... a room upgrade to Eaton which was beautiful, a happy anniversary platter upon arrival, a hand written card from the team, balloons on our dinner table and a complimentary starter. The wine cellar staff even remembered our wedding cocktail and re-made it for us as they had kept the ingredient list! We couldn't resist buying 6 bottles of the white wine we had on the wedding day to take home with us and share with family. Thank you again for making sure we were looked after so well!
