Hotels with Parking in Penzance

We had three nights here in preparation for a coastal walk. The hotel has an air of faded grandeur about it, mixed with a whiff of 1970s council offices, but the staff try hard to make the stay memorable. Our room was at the back of the hotel, so rather than a sea view, we had a good view of the neighbourhood cats. It was comfortable enough, however, and clean. Breakfast was very good and set us up well for our days of walking. A sea view would make the stay better, but you could do a lot worse. The location, however, cannot be faulted.

When you stay at The Pirate Inn in Penzance, you'll be near the airport, within a 15-minute drive of St. Michael's Mount and Minack Theatre. I decided to stay at The Longboat due to the price and the location, and my preference to give money to local businesses rather than big chains. It's two mins from the train station, based at the bottom of the main street in Penzance, and within easy stomping distance of the harbour, promenade, local pubs, cafes, shops, and my family's homes. The staff were very welcoming when I turned up and gave clear instructions re the room, keys, and booking breakfast. They provided an iron and ironing board on request. They were also friendly and helpful when I raised some issues (below). I first stayed in the Cape Cornwall room (14), but had some issues there (a broken sash window letting breeze in, a leaking shower, and a dodgy hot water tap). The staff offered to move me immediately, but as I'd been travelling for 10 hours, and my first two days were jampacked with pre-funeral events, and a funeral, I didn't have the time or energy to move on days one or two. Once the funeral was behind me, I moved on day three, for the final night, to room 18 (Lands End, maybe?) which was much more pleasant and I experienced no issues. In both rooms, the beds and linen were comfortable, the TVs worked fine, there was lots of wardrobe space, the room temperature was good, and everything was clean. It would be nice if the hotel put a bottle of still water in the room, in addition to the tea and coffee, every day so you don't have to rely on the bathroom tap - I went out and bought my own. I didn't eat whilst here as I spent the whole time with family. I had breakfast at Sullivans Diner on my final morning, which was fab. In summary, The Longboat was fine to stay in for a few nights, as an affordable option, and as a solo traveller. If I was going to return and wanted to stay for longer, or to stay somewhere that felt more like a treat, I'd probably stay elsewhere.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were given a beautiful room, overlooking the harbour - it was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We had arrived in Mousehole at lunch time, so had what we thought would be a snack lunch at the Ship Inn - the food was delicious and plentiful, to the extent that we couldn't face a full evening meal later on and just had some starters! It needs to be said, however, that several items on the menu were not available and, when we arrived for breakfast the next morning, we were told that the chef hadn't turned up and so we had cereal and toast. This was slightly disappointing but not a major issue for us and the manager did reduce our bill to compensate us, which we were happy with. To put this in perspective, we were visiting at the end of January and were, I believe, the only overnight guests. I realise that it may not be cost-effective to provide a full menu and, from other places we visited, it is apparent that staffing is a general problem - made far worse by the fact that many workers can't afford to live in the places where they work because of inflated prices due to holiday lets and second homes. Anyway, enough politics. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking but there is public parking nearby. Stepping outside in the morning to a beautiful, clear day and watching the sun rise directly in front of us was worth the price on its own.

The room design is very special and the accommodation is very comfortable. The attic room is hot during the day when it is sunny. The hotel does not include breakfast, but there is a restaurant downstairs, which tastes very good. There are some specialty shops near the hotel, which are worth visiting. Most of Penzance's accommodations are on the hillside, not far from the hotel from the train station, but it is tiring to climb the slope with luggage. To all major attractions is to take a car from the railway station. There are several Chinese restaurants on the market steet, which taste pretty good.

Set just a one-minute walk away from Penzance train station, our Premier Inn Penzance hotel is in an ideal spot for stays in this scenic Cornish town. Culture lovers can explore art exhibitions at the nearby Penlee House Gallery & Museum, and for nature lovers, a trip to the Trememheere Sculpture Gardens or Trengwainton Garden is a must. Plus, why not soak up some unforgettable views of Cornwall with a walk along the South West Coast Path from Penzance to Marazion? After long days out exploring Cornwall, you can look forward to a tasty meal at our in-house Thyme restaurant, and a great night's sleep in one of our comfy Hypnos beds.

We stayed at Torwood House for 5 nights in September 2020. Our room was huge & had everything we could wish for - kettle & hot drinks facilities, lovely shower with ample hot water, comfy bed & convenient location to walk to restaurants and along the bay. Perfect if you are heading off to the Isles of Scilly as we did. Our family of grown up kids joined us for two nights and they also stayed in a large room. Steve cooked delicious breakfasts and nothing was too much trouble for Lynda. As we had to depart really early for the ferry to St Mary's, Lynda kindly supplied us with a packed breakfast to eat on the ferry. Many thanks to both of you for a fantastic stay. Can't fault this lovely b&b. You'll get a warm welcome from hosts Clare and Kevin, who are happy to share their wealth of local knowledge and are always up for a chat. Breakfasts are amazing - the full English is a real gut-buster, but Clare is happy to tailor breakfast to whatever you want - cereal, fruit and yoghurt are standard and of course bottomless tea or coffee pot. Rooms are refreshed daily - if you wish - and the bed was super-comfortable. Daily fresh towels are a treat that you don't normally get in hotels these days. But here nothing is too much trouble. I can't wait to go again next year. Highly recommended!

We visited on a Friday night, for the Italian buffet. The choice was excellent and you could re-visit the buffet as much as you liked. We also saved 10% on our total bill (including drinks), as we had pre-booked. Our waitress, Jess, was excellent, very attentive and very pleasant. We will be back, next time we are in Cornwall.
