Fantastic ancient Chinese lodging with modern amenities. You get the chance to sleep on a Luohan bed. The room is a suite! Within Pingyao walled city, it was easy to go to visit the sites. The lady owner gave me a map. Even though I speak no Chinese and they speak no English, we were able to communicate using a translator app. She recommended a restaurant when I asked. They made the utmost effort to make your stay enjoyable. The owner took me to the railway station when I left. P.S. Best to download MAPS.ME as it will work offline. Google Maps does not work in China. The taxi will drop you outside the city wall and you can ride the shuttle to the hotel. Make sure you got the Chinese address. Also same possible, install the Wechat app as it is used widely in China - you text in English they translate to Chinese and vice versa.

The inn has a great environment, and the antique buildings are so comfortable. I really like the feeling of sunlight shining into the room in the morning. The owner is also very nice! I will stay here again next time I come to Pingyao

Really love the hotel’s a**osphere. It is cool both scenery and weather. There aren’t much noice and people around the hotel, a little walk and you will reach some of the tourist’s attraction. Some employees can speak english or if not, wechat is the best help. They also booked taxi and drop us off by the taxi, the service was wonderful. Will stay here again if there’s a chance of visiting.

The ancient city Pingyao and the Yundingxuan hotel blowed our mind. The hotel provide free pickup from the train station. We took the high speed train arrived at Pingyaocheng station which is around 15 minutes away from the ancient city. When you enter the city wall gate, you will be amazed of the narrow streets and cobblestone road. Picked Yundingxuan hotel because it was closed to the North gate so If the taxi was to dropped us off it’ll be a short walk but the driver dropped us off near the hotel because cars are not allowed within the main streets. The hotel is closed to 200 years old and have characteristics of the Ming and Qing dynasties. I was born in Vietnam, With roots to China but raised up in the US since I was 7 years old. I’ve seen Chinese movies but nothing will prepare you to the hotel and the ancient city. I was surprised how big the hotel complex was. All the staff were very nice, the main host spoke English, and the breakfasts were traditional Chinese breakfast. We stayed two nights and we felt safe throughout our visit. My wife and daughter appreciated the three hotel cats and all the felines throughout the city. I’m sure the other hotels are fantastic and will give your a unique experience but I can vouch for Yundingxuan. Just be prepared to get out your comfort zone but be amazed by the visual and taste of Pingyao Ancient City.

During the National Day holiday, my wife and I took our daughter to the ancient city of Pingyao and stayed at the Yunjincheng Mansion. Our experience was as follows: First, the layout of the mansion is very good, with an antique look and history. It is very suitable for taking pictures. Second, the location of the residence is very good. It is on West Street in the ancient city, very close to the famous tourist attraction Rishengchang, and not too far from the Internet celebrity Hongwuji Hotel, Tianyuankui Hotel, and Liang Xiansen Yogurt. Third, the staff at the residence are very enthusiastic and responsive to requests. Just as Butler Ning said, ”Coming to us is just like going home.” We felt warm in our hearts. We also added WeChat in advance to inquire about needs and inform precautions. Because we were driving by ourselves, and considering the difficulty of parking in the ancient city due to the crowds during the National Day, we took the initiative to help find parking spaces. Fourth, the hotel has complete facilities and is clean and hygienic. Although the breakfast is not that rich, it tastes good. Next time I come to Pingyao, I will continue to choose to stay in Yunjincheng.

When you come to Pingyao, you must stay in the old courtyard, the big earthen kang, the former residence of the old shopkeeper. I am honored to have chosen the old house. The environment is very good, the service is particularly good, there are many foreign friends, the location is very close to the parking lot, and it is very convenient to drive by car. It takes only five minutes to walk to see Pingyao again. I strongly recommend it to everyone.

The boss asked us to park at the Xiaonanmen parking lot and picked us up there. It was very close to the homestay, and it only took 5 minutes to walk there. There was also a fried cake vendor next to it. We bought it for breakfast the next day and it was delicious. We didn't buy a pass for the entire Pingyao Ancient City because we were already living in an ancient house. We specially chose a separate courtyard. Once the gate was closed, there were only us, and it was very quiet. The big kang room was also very interesting, and you must experience it once. Although it takes 10 minutes to walk to South Street, I was a little tired and couldn't find the north on the first day I arrived. I felt that I had walked a long way. The next day I went to South Street for shopping and eating and felt that I arrived in a short while. The boss also gave us discount coupons for several popular restaurants. The boss's wife also specially sent us vinegar in the evening, saying that it was brewed from real grains and not blended.

The room is not big, but it is very unique. It is a renovation of a historical building. The main thing is to feel the stay. The hotel is in the scenic area. The car needs to be parked in the large parking lot. If you don't have much luggage, you can walk to the hotel. If you have luggage, the hotel will send a small electric donkey to pick it up. I would like to mention the hotel's restaurant in particular. The decoration and dishes are very unique. It is a rare meal.

Pingyao Ancient City is a place that needs to be slowed down and quietly appreciated in the off-season. This homestay can be said to be the first surprise. It is a super high-quality three-in-one courtyard. Sitting in the courtyard on a sunny afternoon to taste tea and chat is suitable for the rhythm of parents. The location is also very good. It is 20 meters away from the central commercial street of the ancient city. It is very close to eating, shopping, travel photography, and postcards at the post office. The service of the proprietress is also very thoughtful and responsive. The second surprise is the food in the ancient city, which is very delicious, especially the beef copper pot, which is worth a try. The third surprise is all the service staff, who are very enthusiastic. For all those who say Pingyao is not good, please come back to try it when there are fewer people.
