The hotel weirdly gave us an “upgrade” to the apartment which is not that nice, modern and clean (there were bugs in the bath tub and hair in the drawers) as you can see in the first 2 pics but of a higher price. When we asked to change back to the room we booked, we staff wouldn’t just help us changed the room and had acted very weird as if we are not entitled to the room… This one particular staff (senior manager I believe) gave us “one final chance” as she said, and made us go up and down to check the room to make sure we “will not regret it” which makes no sense to us at all.

Most of the Germans were visible, and we were the only Asians, so it was rather nice. There are two or three swimming pools, and the resort seems to be well managed. The view from the balcony is good, and if you walk right out, there is a commercial district in front of you, so there are many restaurants and shops, and the beach is close. I had a good rest!

This is a lovely hotel which was let down by a couple of things. Firstly the food was lovely and the location was good especially for cycling. On the second night I came down with a mild food poisoning or 24 hr stomach bug which I understand you run the risk in a buffet situation. Thankfully 24hrs later I was fine. I blame the mussels that I ate and won’t eat them again in this kind of situation. The weather improved during our week and we were unable to operate the air conditioning despite it being advertised as a feature when we booked. We asked at reception and was told unless they received 10 complaints they would not switch it on. Trust me when I say it was boiling hot at night. We complained and was told to leave the door to the balcony open. This was not possible due to being bitten by some form of insect throughout the stay so did not want to increase these annoying and itchy bites. It was disappointing as the hotel is very nice but there was a particular member of staff who was very unhelpful and quite rude.

The hotel was very clean and the staff really helpful. The only thing I would say is that it got really cold at night and the bed sheets were thin. The sheets provided are sufficient when it’s a warm night, but it was quite cold when we were there. Guests should have the option of having thick sheets. maybe stored in the wardrobe?

We had our first family vacation together and it was beyond our expectations. Amazing friendly staff, great food and hotel. Even though it was in high season, there were still a lot of place by and in the swimming pools. We would definitely recommend it and we’ll be travelling there again.

The holiday was one of those 'what do you have for the week after next?' decisions. With much of our travelling over the years being of the visiting family in distant places kind, we wanted a holiday that we didn't have to work at. Rita in Cill Dara Travel in Newbridge, Co Kildare, came up with a TUI week away in Picafort, Mallorca. The hotel was the Grupotel Gran Vista, which turned out to be an excellent choice. Flights on TUI's own planes from and back to Dublin were on time and pleasant. Connection and direction at Palma Airport from the TUI reps was excellent, and the transfer to Picafort, though some 90 minutes long, was comfortable on TUI's own coaches service. Our hotel was at the end of the route, which gave us a chance to see something of the other properties in the area. It turned out that the Gran Vista is likely at the top of the list, largely due to the extensive landscaped grounds, with good sun and shade and several pools, two of them very much geared to families with young children, which turned out to be a large cohort of the hotel’s guests. Our room was compact but well laid out, with ample storage for two people's needs, a balcony overlooking the garden-pools area and a view of the sea and some mountains. Everything was spotless and rooms were serviced every day. One big plus — unlike many hotels we have been to, there was good lighting both in the corridors and in the rooms themselves. Staff in every area of the hotel were efficient, cheerful, and friendly. Our stay was bed and breakfast, though we had some good lunches in the Bistro terrace and a couple of evening meals in the main dining room. Food was excellent, with lots of choices in a large self-service area. The local TUI rep, Alice, was patient and helpful with advice on a trip, and we took her suggestion of an afternoon on a wooden boat, the Capo *****. An older and much slower option compared to the high-powered RIBs trips also on offer. With just 12 of us on board, it turned out to be a most enjoyable time, the 1950s boat having a good story, and a fascinating captain when he got talking about his own career around the world as a professional diver. There was opportunity to swim off the boat while anchored off Formentor Beach, a really pleasant interlude, which wouldn’t have been possible on the ‘adventure’ RIB excursions. Captain Albert's explanations of the buildings along the coastline were informative, interesting, and imagination-boosting. Picafort itself is rather less crowded and frantic than other resorts along the ribbon of Alcudia Bay. Formerly a fishing village, a single pedestrianised 'tourist' street leads down to the beach and sea front, along that front are the usual cafe-restaurants and some shops ... the more interesting walk is along to the right, eastwards to beyond the port, after which there's a well laid out cycle- and walk-way. An hour over coffee on Sunday morning at a little cafe overlooking the bay there was really pleasant. A churc

May wife and I couldn't fault the hotel, however, we weren't told that the hotel mainly catered for German speaking holiday makers, which prevented us from enjoying the entertainment or taking part in any daily activities. The food was excellent. The staff were helpful and pleasant.

We travelled as family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers) in 2 twin rooms. The hotel was modern and clean in a great central location. 5 minute walk to beach. Rooms: Nice size, clean, good view of pool, lovely balcony, good selection of TV channels. Maid service every day. But... The rooms had an awful sewage smell when the air conditioning was on. Pools: 4 really good sized outdoor pools for all age groups but water very cold. Dirty and tired looking sunbeds. Ripped towels. There is an indoor pool for children plus an indoor pool / spa for over 16s. Food: Good selection but spolit by the fact both breakfast and evening meal food was cold. Not pleasant eating cold fried eggs and sausages. The glasses looked dirty. No English Breakfast tea bags so bought our own from the supermarket. The fruit is obviously out all night as it was dry. My son was given chicken which was raw in the middle. I complained and was disappointed not to receive an apology. We were also VERY disappointed about food labelling. Nothing to tell you what flavour the cakes or yoghurt or jam was. Just a gamble if it was a flavour you would enjoy. Plus, major point: No allergen info on anything. There is a small games room but the white ball was missing from the pool table and some machines out of order. You need 10 euro deposit to borrow table tennis rackets and ball. The reception staff were lovely, polite and friendly but the restaurant and bistro staff not so much. We had a nice break but would definitely not return.
