We spent our 20th anniversary in one of the suites. The hotel is amazing and the staff even better! The upside: 1. The hotel is gorgeous, the grounds around it are beautiful. Our suite was massive and well appointed. 2. The staff and owner were as good as they come. They were very attentive and responsive. We got in late from our flight and missed dinner. They offered some light fare for us, we declined, but had a nice bottle of Chianti we enjoyed outside on one of the patios. Their house Chianti is excellent. 3. An absolute must is the cooking class. I grew up in the restaurant business and I learned a ton, plus the food was excellent. We had a ton of fun and it was just us. Definitely do this if staying there. 4. The little town it is in is very charming. My wife’s picked fresh figs from the trees around the area (we also saw tons of olive trees, prickly pear cactus, and pomegranates), and there is a cute little bodega where we enjoyed a sandwich and beer. 5. We had dinner one night at the hotel. The food was great and it’s a cute little dining room (also used for breakfast). 6. It’s close to a number of wineries and we ended up doing a wine tasting one evening and an olive oil tasting. We ended up ordering a case of wine from Rocca di Castagnoli and 3L of olive oil after a tasting at the olive farm next door. When driving to the vineyard we went through some backroads and on the way back we saw at least a dozen wild boar and a few deer as well. That was cool. The couple of items to consider: 1. You need a car. This worked great for us as we wanted to see several different cities. We drive to Siena and Arezzo, and drive to the train station to get to a Florence. There are some nice and surprising large supermarkets in the main town of Montevarchi about a 15 minute drive. It’s a good midpoint between many main cities in Tuscany and the train station was very convenient. 2. The only real downside were the mosquitoes. This was not the hotels fault obviously but they were everywhere, including our room. We made the mistake of opening a window one night as it was so nice and for the rest of the stay we got bitten each night and it made it difficult to sleep with all the buzzing. Overall, it’s one of the nicer hotels we have stayed in. Our room was well decorated and very unique, almost an apartment rather than a hotel room. If you are planning to visit a lot of places and want a single place to stay while in Tuscany you can’t beat the charm, luxury, and value.

We spent two days here with the family. Junior suite and family suite. Rooms were large, luxurious and modern. Staff were incredibly accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Even catered for the granddaughter who needed dinner even before the restaurant was officially open. Nothing was too much trouble. Restaurant was a short walk from the hotel. All the food was freshly made and excellent. Would happily return.

Fantastic place! My partner and I had a wonderful experience at this magnificent luxury villa in Tuscany. The rooms are wonderful, functional, and equipped with everything necessary for a great stay. The hospitality is excellent, and the staff is very kind and helpful. They always promptly assisted us with any requests and also provided recommendations for things to do and places to see. The location is truly excellent, as it is situated in a typical Tuscan village, 20 minutes from Chianti, 40 minutes from Florence, 50 minutes from Siena, and 40 minutes from Arezzo. It is perfect for those who, like us, want to stay in a relaxing place and explore Tuscany with ease, as it is centrally located to all major points of interest. It also offers breathtaking views of the Arno Valley, as it is located on a hill. Furthermore, one thing we really liked is that this luxury hotel also has a delicious on-site restaurant and an excellent outdoor restaurant called Vin di Vino, with beautiful modern interior design and very good local cuisine served with elegance. At the end of our day exploring Tuscany, it was always a pleasure to return to this place, both to relax and enjoy the good food. Not to mention the excellent pool, sauna, Turkish bath, spa, massages, and more! In short, I recommend anyone who wants to have a magnificent and relaxing stay in Tuscany to choose this place! We will be back soon 😁

It was so perfectly located. And so perfectly tended to. I can't decide whether the villa or the rooms or the view or the food or the service or the people was my favorite part. It is a whole experience of loveliness. Traveling alone I felt cared for and cared about. The meals were sublime and surroundings soft and yet impressive. Each detail is a reflection of the owners' lives of creation and design. And each and every person that they have hired is a wonderful part of their art of hospitality. It is a place to be with a loved one or on one's own, read/write a book, take excursions, relax in the sun, be very well fed and feel like you are a part of the vineyards and groves themselves. Lucky you who will go there.

The hotel is situated in a unremarkable hamlet called Moncioni around a 15 minute drive from Montevarchi which is a bog standard, small Italian town. We arrived to find that the shower door would not open and the fascia on the door frame of our bedroom was hanging off - with a nail in it. Above our heads. There is a phone in the room so tried to call reception about these issues but the phone didn't work. What an awful arrival to this 'luxury' hotel. We reported these issues to the receptionist who informed us that repairs couldn't be performed until the following day so we were left with no choice but to go for dinner having been unable to shower after our long journey and feeling quite depressed. To be fair, while we were in the restaurant the manager informed us the repairs had been completed. But, still. We were hoping that the dinner in the hotels restaurant ( which was actually across the road) would cheer us up but it was dire. The worst meal I had on our 11 day trip. Really basic, badly cooked food. Total dissappointment. We actively avoided the restaurant for the rest of the trip but that meant a drive out to nearby places, which ordinarily might've been a nice thing to do, but a word of warning; the hotel was at the top of a winding hill with no streetlighting en route and full of treacherous , blind, hair pin bends on narrow roads which in parts had a vertiginous drop! - yes, this is part of the natural landscape - but my point is that travelling from the hotel at night to get a better meal elsewhere became a forbidding prospect but we felt that we had no choice as the food was so bad at the hotel restaurant. The shoddy four poster bed was rickety and made a lot of noise each time my parter or I turned over. So on a few occassions I slept on the sofa so that we could both get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was on the poorer side of adequate and you'd expect better for a 5 star hotel given that they were charging 15 euros for it. The only hot offering for breakfast was an omelette or scrambled eggs which you were expected to pay up to an extra 8 euros for. Its quite baffling why they don't offer a better breakfast given there are ample kitchen facilities within the hotel because it offers cookery courses?! Yes, the hotel has a spa and sauna. The only treatments they offer are a massage but there is nobody in site at the spa - its housed in a small building nearby - and the masseur has to be booked in advance. If you wish to use the spa pool the receptionist has to switch it on for you. The spa pool is really just an enlarged jaccuzzi and every time I used it, it was cold. In the same building there was gym which was small but functional and there was a small, but nice sauna in the same building too. It was a nice touch but calling it a 'spa hotel' is a bold claim given the facilities on offer. The positives are that the decor is stunning and the views are wonderful. The staff are pleasant and the cleaners were abso

We absolutely loved our romantic 4x night stay at Villa Sassolini. Despite having bad weather and it being so remote we felt it was perfect for cosy stay. We enjoyed the breakfast, drove for a wine tasting close by, spent the wet afternoons playing chess, reading and enjoying the spa! The onsite restaurant far exceeded our expectations (I'm a huge foodie and was worried re. reviews), it delivered elegant classic cuisine, at it's finest (we went to some modern restaurants peddling haute cuisine close by, to which it was far superior) with a heck of a view, the silence of the valley and brilliant service,... and we could both drink VinoSanto to our hearts content and pootle back to our hotel room! Our highlight was the cooking class, again I was a little nervous (I'm a big cook) but it was so well presented, organised, the lunch delicious (we did have some help!) and the recipe card is our prized highlight of our whole trip. From reviews here I think it's worth noting that this part of Italy is expensive and Villa Sassolini is really a rather unique, authentic and a special gem! My only feedback would be is that it's worth noting this is not an adults only hotel which, given it's intimacy and romantic nature was a serious struggle, with a couple of families making noise and dominating spaces, as families do. Whilst staff seemed to do miraculous job of accommodating everyone, having U5s screaming, bombing in the pool and dominating the row of limited sunbeds or games room wasn't relaxing - seems like a very odd choice on their part IMO!

We had such a fantastic stay at the very stylish Villa Sassolini . The most beautiful spacious attic suite with breathtaking views over the mountains annd super comfy big bed. The bath with windows to watch the sun set was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend as part of any Tuscan touring holiday

Beautiful remote setting at the top of a winding hill. Hotel interiors are well designed, small pool, great view. We stayed for 4 nights with 3 kids in room 7/8. My main reason for writing this review is the room, we arrived on a 36 degree day and the air conditioning was at 27 celcius and took 48 hours to get down to 22, it was roasting, it should not take this long to cool a room. The air conditioning system was being controlled by staff in the hotel office v’s in-room controls. They did provide a fan but it was unacceptable that the air conditioning didn’t work given what we had paid for the rooms. The lights flickered, the internet was inconsistent and the international power socket did not work and they made no attempt to fix it. The hotel is very quiet and not a family hotel, the continental breakfast is 15 euros each + 6 euros for eggs. There is 1 restaurant across the road from the hotel (the hotel only serves breakfast and lunch) there are no other options in the tiny village. Be prepared to drive if you want restaurant variety.

The most charming and elegant getaway in an authentic small secluded Italian village! Very stylish decorated, so gives you an unique luxury experience, with a personal touch. The owner and his team are incredibly kind and take good care of you. And there is the hotrel restaurant, just down the street, with delicious food and a beautiful view you can't get tired of. Highly(!) recommended.
