The James Rotterdam

The room was spacious, clean, tidy, and comfortable. The location is excellent, very close to the Central Station, shopping streets, and metro station, making transportation convenient, and various landmarks are within walking distance. Luggage storage is available. Overall, it's comfortable, convenient, and offers great value for money.

The James Hotel is located in the center of Rotterdam, right next to the famous Lijnbaan. There are many facilities around the hotel, which was the deciding factor for me to choose this hotel. I had a room with a King size bed, but due to the room's layout, it was very cramped to move around in. In fact, I had all the facilities I actually needed, but there were a few things that were a bit disappointing. Despite staying on the 13th floor, I unfortunately didn't have a city view but looked out onto an adjacent building across from my window. Watching TV had to be done from the bed because it couldn't be rotated towards the table with a stool. It's not ideal to watch TV from bed and eat at the same time. Spills were sometimes the result. Given my advanced age, a proper chair with a backrest would have been more pleasant than sitting on a stool. I stayed for 4 nights and accepted the minor drawbacks. Normally, I also book breakfast at the hotel, which wasn't possible at The James. Although there was a space to create this facility, you had to buy your own food (packaged) from an adjacent kiosk in this area and then take a seat at a table. The packaged food was even quite expensive, so I decided not to make use of any food in this hotel.

The staff were friendly and polite. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from Rotterdam Central Station. The room decor was tasteful, and the water pressure and temperature in the bathroom were stable. However, there are a few things to note: the shower floor doesn't have anti-slip surfacing, so older guests should be particularly careful about slipping. Also, the soundproofing between rooms is not great; I was startled several times by the loud slamming of the door by the guests next door during my stay.

Located in the heart of the city, this hotel is convenient for getting anywhere. Opened in 2018, it's still new and has a stylish vibe, yet the rooms are spacious and the price is very reasonable. All the necessities were well-provided, and for me, it was 'necessary and sufficient.' Although there was no view, I personally appreciated having an espresso machine and proper glass cups. What I found interesting was the unmanned, fully self-service shop on the second floor. Breakfast is also a 'pick-what-you-like' style here, and I was surprised by the wide variety of options, including bread, fruits, and yogurt. Plus, the prices were very reasonable, with croissants at €1 each and coffee around €2. Ceramic dishes and cutlery were also available, and I liked the convenience of being able to buy just what I needed. 😙 Even the room key and 'Do Not Disturb' sign were stylishly made of wood. 💓 I highly recommend this hotel! 👍

Not too far from Rotterdam Central Station. The room was clean and spacious. Plenty of shelf space. There's over 2 meters between the foot of the bed and the wall, more than enough room for large suitcases. The receptionist was beautiful and spoke excellent English. Lucky for me, I was able to check in early this time.

My stay in a clean and spacious room was mostly good. The reception staff during check-in were robotic and lacked warmth, but the woman at check-out was wonderful. The housekeepers I passed in the hallway were also professional and a big plus. My assigned room faced the road, so it was noisy until about midnight, and then again from 6:30 AM with construction on the adjacent road or some kind of delivery. It would have been good to be informed about this during check-in so I could mentally prepare, but if the staff weren't aware either, it's something that could be improved in the future. The hotel's interior and decor are nice, and on the second floor, there's a lounge and a mini-shop with a wide variety of drinks, which I recommend.
