The charm of an historic chateau with the comfort and convenience of very modern facilities. Welcoming staff, excellent food, accommodation and facilities (spa, tennis courts, swimming pool) and tranquil walks in the surrounding woodland. There is an airfield (Belleville Villie Morgon, LFHW) less than a mile away, although the operator was clearly not familiar with the state of the runway when we visited as he advised us, to land at Macon.

Sadly there are no bedrooms in the ancient chateau, which is a shame . Rooms, and duplex rooms, are situated outside the main building and really need re-vamping. The room we stayed in (a duplex) was tired and needed redecorating. The duplex rooms are spacious but need cheering up with an injection of style. It is a missed opportunity in my opinion as the chateau makes great wine and has a good restaurant. The staff are very pleasant though but the rooms are expensive for accommodation that does not feel special in any way.

Such a beautiful property with everything you could need for a great stay! We took the train from Lyon. The hotel helped us arrange a taxi pick up who was wonderful. The gentleman who welcomed us at check in walked us to our room and was so friendly and smiling. We splurged during this stay to enjoy the spa package where we received a really, exceptionally wonderful massage and enjoyed the spa facility. Afterwards we walked the grounds and went to their on site wine tasting which is self guided, and very interesting. We then enjoyed the dinner in the restaurant on site. The bartender was a rude woman but all the other staff from the front desk to the wait staff were very kind and smiling. The next day we enjoyed a beautiful breakfast and walked to another winery which was also fabulous - Domaine Christophe et Daniel Rampon, which was an easy 30 minutes walk from Pizay through the beautiful vineyards and some forest patches. It was the perfect stay.

What an unbelievable stay we had! Chateau de Pizay is just a wonderful top notch experience from top to bottom. Upon check in we were escorted to our rooms from the front desk attendant. The rooms were spacious and immaculate. We had made reservations at the restaurant upon arrival. The service, food and wine were presented with such affinity for flair. Each plate was more beautiful than the next but desert was over the top. Just fabulous. We took bikes around the winery for a bit the next day and then just relaxed by the gorgeous pool. It’s quiet and serene. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. Lots of options to choose from, freshly squeezed juices, fruit, pastries (yum) eggs, yogurts, just about everything you could desire. The front desk staff is extremely committed to making sure your stay is enjoyable. They went above and beyond to help us with local information including coordinating our driver to pick us up and take us back to the airport in Lyon. If you want a really special experience don’t sleep on booking this hotel and restaurant.

It was disappointing. The chateau and the grounds are very pretty but the rooms are situated in some nasty buildings next to the castle. They are in a deplorable state. Totally outdated and not well kept as there was the typical chipped color and more everywhere. We were told were our rooms was and were left to ourselves to find it in this rather big complex of the hotel. From a 4 star hotel I expect to be led to the room, expecially when it is not easy to get around in that place. But a friendly yet unwilling to move receptionist just sent us along with a map and some explanation that were too long to remember. On our search for our room we passed interior design that just makes you unhappy with its need for a good make-over and contemporary restoration. The color spectrum was maybe very en vogue in the 80s but hey, we've moved on since then. We kept walking along the smelly corridors under a low ceiling with harsh white lights. Do not breathe. Once in the room the airco worked fine downstairs but not up where the bed with the smelly and elderly matras invited for a doubtable sleep. The rooms have terraces but without any lights so you have to sit in complete darkness if you want to sit outside at night. Our room was on the back of the hotel opposite a little forest. Total darkness all around while a bit of light to show the scenery would have been nice. The food in the evening was only average at the most, but with pretentious pricing and small portions (the steak was 45 euro and was about 150 gr), the fish overcooked, dry and 43 euro. The bread that was served was not fresh. The breakfast room : brace yourself. Impossible to find something more outdated. Even more outdated than the buildings where the sleepingrooms are located. It looks like a squash center after a makeover. And with black carpet (black and breakfast, heaven). Again, impossibly outdated interior. Why we could not sit outside to have breakfast and enjoy the views still is a miracle. They managed to make even the normally delicious French croissant tasteless. The bread reminded me of diet bread, I am sorry to say. The usual eggs, saucisse, salmon and other could not blend away rather shabby coffee. All in all it is an overpriced hotel and not worth 4 stars. Not for service, not for accommodation. All the beauty of the location cannot make up for it. Definitively not worth the money.

I booked a duplex suite for my wife, myself and our 9 year old daughter. Everything went very well until we received our final bill on departure. We were charged for breakfast. Not at anytime during our stay did we have a breakfast. To our amazement, we were charged an additional cost for our daughters bed, which was already in our suite. The lady at reception was incredibly rude and ignored me when I questioned the bill. After some minutes, she finally acknowledged my comments and admitted the breakfast charge was incorrect. But, refused to remove the charge for our daughters bed. A disgrace. I would warn any potential guests to check their final bill thoroughly should they risk staying here!!

The castle is in perfect condition and renovated in style. The menus presented in the restaurant offer the possibility to make your own more or less extensive choices and are of high quality. The staff is helpful creating a relaxed atmosphere

Amazing experience! We were slightly reluctant to book as a few little negative comments on trip advisor but we were passing on our way from Cannes to Calais and thought we’d check it out and we ended up staying 3 nights. Carina greeted us and explained the room options. She allowed us to check the room first before we committed to staying. It was great. Very spacious with an upstairs bedroom and nice little terrace overlooking the pool. We arrived at 6.30pm and she offered us dinner which we booked at the restaurant on site. Dinner was lovely. Very high end service and food. Breakfast was very nice with a lot of different choices. They do have a lunch van by the pool but we had some rain so didn’t see that open. We like to explore so often drove out for lunch and plenty of places close by and a Carrefour supermarket for any essentials you may need. The grounds at the hotel are truly beautiful and we had some lovely walks. Highly recommend and we will be back for sure.
