The best accommodation in Sukunami hot springs. Huge rooms with western beds and Japanese influences. The dinner and breakfast buffets included are out of this world! The public baths are spectacular, especially the outdoor rock onsens are a destination on their own. Free flow of drinks and popsicles at the two lounges Shuttle to and fro the hotel can be arranged at 40Yen per way. This hotel is really in the middle of nowhere and it's a 5 min drive from Sukunami JR Station. The entire property has been recently renovated and reopened in Apr 2025, so the facilities are sparkling new and luxurious.

High rank of environment, food and service although the room is rather small.

The hotel is very luxurious, the lobby has free alcohol and drinks, receives WiFi around, the hot springs to walk down the mountain, very special, the 1/F has a large hot spring, near the hot spring area free drinks until 12 midnight. We booked a triple room, the room was spacious, the ointment was no shower room, it was cheap and included breakfast and dinner. The food is rich. I will stay a few more nights next time I have the chance. Be sure to take a bath in the large bath. Very close to a whiskey factory visit. Make an appointment in advance though.

The hotel is located away from the city center, but the hotel staff are very good and attentive, the food quality is good, the rock hot spring is unique, and the facilities are sufficient. I will stay there again if I have the chance.

The hotel's shuttle was very convenient for picking us up after getting off at Sakunami Onsen Station. This hotel is very well-known locally, with posters advertising it everywhere. The hotel staff was warm and courteous, and even helped us book a tour of the whiskey distillery. The hotel's hot springs are excellent, with both mixed bathing and women-only hours. The food was also acceptable, though the hotel was not very busy, so the food was a little slow to be replenished.

The room is clean, the open-air bath is great, and there are not many people. Transportation is very convenient. From the second floor of Sendai Airport, you can take JR to Sendai Station, transfer to the Senzan Line, and get off at Sakunami Station. There is a special car from the store waiting at the platform, and you can go directly to the hotel. Dinner is a buffet and the food is rich. This shop also has a long history, and the open-air bath maintains mixed soup. However, there is also a special time for women, which saves some embarrassment.

Beautiful traditional Japanese ryokan. Rooms are comfortable and the buffet is to die for. If you are traveling via public transportation, it is tricky. There are no taxis so you have to take a bus from the train station. There is a lovely shrine right across the way that has a nice trail .

It's a wonderful hot spring. There are many springs, and the open-air baths are completely free-flowing with no circulation. The open-air baths are mixed-gender, but there are designated times for women only. I think mixed-gender hot springs are a part of traditional Japanese culture, but there are only a few left, which makes it difficult for women to enter. In addition to the mixed-gender open-air baths, there is a women's only bathroom and very large indoor baths separated by gender.

The rock bath along the mountain stream is very atmospheric. The indoor bath is spacious, and the hot spring is wonderful. The building itself is old, but the corridors have been renovated. The buffet has a small number of dishes, but each dish seems to be carefully prepared. There was a bed in the room. It was a bit strange to see the bed casually placed on the tatami mats. I think it would have been better if there was a sauna. It was May, so the fresh greenery along the mountain stream was very refreshing.

You take the elevator to the bottom floor, then go all the way down the stairs to the open-air bath along the river, which was quite nice. After bathing, you're sweating and it's a pain to have to climb back up, and the large bath with the washing area is on the floor above, which is inconvenient. Furthermore, the open-air bath on the bottom floor is generally mixed bathing, and there are times when it is only for women. The regular large bath is about what you'd expect. The buffet is in line with the price of the inn. Overall, it was neither good nor bad.

The lobby and other areas are luxurious, reminiscent of a former high-class inn, and the hotel is a large, long-established inn with a gallery, kids' corner, hot springs, and a panel display of Nikka's history. I stayed in room 603 along the road. The Japanese-Western style room had a bed crammed into a 4.5 tatami mat room, and the amenities were average. The most troublesome thing was changing shoes to use the toilet. The open-air bath with natural hot spring water along the mountain stream was as wonderful as the reviews said, and I was very satisfied to be able to enjoy it in a private setting. The breakfast and dinner buffet meals were quite reasonable considering the price, and it was nice to see the local flavor of not only Miyagi but the whole of Tohoku.
