Marina Piccola 73

My husband and I started our 30th anniversary trip to Italy in Sorrento last month. When I began to plan the trip and determined Sorrento would be our first base, I was torn between this lovely hotel down in the marina and a larger hotel up on the cliffs. I am so thankful that I chose Marina Picolla 73! We chose a balcony, sea-view room and the view did not disappoint. To wake up to the sound of ship horns, sea gulls cawing and waves gently lapping the shore was such a treat. The room was spacious and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was large and had nice amenities and robes and slippers! Breakfast is served on a terrace with an amazing view. Donatella was delightful. She made an excellent cappucino and provided us with delicious treats for breakfast, including her homemade cake. You can also request eggs for breakfast if you want, but we never did. She also told us about the resident sea gulls and how she helped the daddy sea gull when he arrived with fishing line wrapped around his leg which makes him now walk with a little limp. We loved this location. You can get up to the main part of Sorrento a few ways: Taxi, bus, lift or walk. We mainly used the stairs accessed by walking along the sidewalk which runs along the cliff. These stairs take you directly to Piazza Tasso. You can also walk along the marina and once you get to the Marameo beach club you can either take the lift up for a few Euro or enter a path which zig zags up the hill and ends up at the Villa Comunale Di Sorrento where you can enjoy a fabulous view of the bay! From here it is just a short walk into the magical streets of Sorrento. Mariarita in the office was very welcoming when we arrived. Unfortunately for us, our flight was delayed overnight in London on what was to be our first night, and Mariarita was very responsive in helping us with our airport transfers the day we were to arrive. She also set us up with a private driver to take us back to Naples on the day we left for Sicily, and he was one of my favorite drivers of the entire trip! This hotel is beyond charming and magical. We will not stay anywhere else when we return to Sorrento!

We were constantly delighted at the many extras, from the deluxe bed & linens to the fabulous soaps & creams, to the genuineness of the staff: Donatella who bakes amazing items for the copious breakfast each morning, Mariarita who offers a friendly “ciao” every time you walk by outside, the bartender who listens to your likes & dislikes and comes back with something weird but delicious (and the best snacks I’ve ever seen free w/a drink). and the owner who has infused her love for this beautiful place into every detail. Book a room on the 2nd floor so you can leave the huge windows open all night to listen to the water and wake up to a view of the harbor. Magical.

Fantastic location, on the harbour front close to ferries. Lovely appointed rooms and 5 star service with breakfast on the alfresco rooftop terrace. Donatella served a delicious savoury breakfast with her daily homemade cake which has been unmatched to date. We’ll definitely be back again.

We loved Vincenzo’s cocktails in the bar, he was so lovely and gave great recommendations! The staff were attentive and professional. The hotel itself was beautiful, well equiped and had lovely touches in fitting with the location. The breakfast was generous and delicious. The view from the patio was beautiful, we would happily stay again!

We've just got back from a week in Amalfi and 5 days at this lovely hotel in Sorrento, tucked away in Marina Piccola away from all the crowds up in the town. We loved being right in the harbour where you can get the ferries to Capri, Naples and Amalfi, we had four restaurants in the harbour to choose from if we didn't want to go up into the town. Our room was lovely with a gorgeous view and a great little balcony. The bathroom was large with great shower, gorgeous toiletries, slippers and robes provided. Breakfast was served on the beautiful terrace overlooking the harbour with amazing food prepared and served by the wonderful Donnatella. Alice, Roberta and Mariarita were all so friendly and helpful with everything we asked. In the evenings the terrace was open as a bar and we loved ending our evening with a drink out there. If you want to go up into the town you can either walk up the flights of stairs or along the side of the road up into the town, or a five minute walk away will take you to the lift from the beach clubs up to the town for €2 return. Perfect spot if you want a beautiful, comfortable stay away from the crowds.

Fantastic stay at Marina Piccola for my mum’s birthday. The team made it really special and helped us to book great restaurants. The rooms, the location, the breakfast, the bar were all top notch. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved our stay at Marina Piccola 73!! To start they communicated with me as soon as I made a reservation, offering services and providing additional details. Our flight was delayed, we were able to have an email conversation regarding a possible late arrival which calmed our anxiety regarding travel mishaps. Mary was there to greet us with a smile before we even entered the lobby. She walked us to our rooms and ensured our expectation were met. The rooms were lovely with a small balcony and a stunning view of the marina. Breakfast service on the terrace was a great way to start the day. Donatella was a fabulous hostess, and the breakfast selections were plentiful and tasty. The terrace provided a spectacular view of the water. The service, location and room comfort made this a perfect place start to our vacation in Italy. I recommend Marina Piccola for anyone vacationing in Sorrento.

What a gem of a hotel. If you are visiting Sorrento I couldn't see anywhere better to stay. Very friendly, helpful, lovely location and brilliant views.

Incredible stay at Marina Piccola 73! Absolutely stunning views of the marina, the bay, and Mt Vesuvius. Incredibly hospitable staff from the front desk to the amazing breakfast staff! Donatella made some of delicious breakfast treat and even shared her recipe for our favorite! (The apple cake). We only used the elevator once to go up to town. The stairs were not that formidable and provided plenty excuse to indulge in the bigger gelato after dinner! 10/10 will return!
