milkway8277The hotel's location is excellent, not far from the Central Museum, and there are restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are relatively spacious, and the lobby has an old-fashioned charm. The occupancy rate wasn't particularly high during my holiday stay. With the new Marriott hotel opening, Almaty will surely have even more great hotel options in the future.

Guest UserThe room was clean and tidy, and a good size compared to other hotels in Almaty. The breakfast restaurant was excellent with beautiful views. The international breakfast wasn't quite to my taste; I prefer the breakfast at Holiday Inn Express. But with such amazing views, it really didn't matter.

Hotel Uyut is in a good location, not too far from the subway and a short walk to restaurants and shops. The room was clean and comfortable enough. Television had plenty of different channels. There is a very small jacuzzi cold pool and a sauna which you can book for a private time. The sauna was great, but the pool jacuzzi bubbles only lasted less than 1 minute. The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing. There was a lack of food at certain times and the coffee machine wasn't working on the last day I was there. The hotel seemed to struggle with the number of guests, one day there was a lack of seats in the breakfast room when I turned up and there were often wait times when waiting for the lift / elevator.

Stanislav KeselmanOverall, it was a good stay. The hotel has beautiful mountain views and a large, green property, although there aren’t enough walking paths throughout the grounds. The overall atmosphere still feels like the Soviet-era resort it once was, and that is reflected in the service as well.
The restaurants are decent, but they’re overpriced, and it would be much more convenient if they had online menus.
One downside is that guests are not allowed to use the spa after check-out.

Guest UserThis is a lovely hotel with great charm and character in the centre of Almaty in a perfect location by parks and pedestrianised streets, cafes and restaurants. The breakfast is great. The deluxe room was wonderful but didnt have nice views. The standard single room was fine amd views better. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful but one or two could improve their customer service by being more relaxed and friendly

The hotel is in a good location with spacious rooms.
The level of service doesn't match the stated level.
The bathroom is in terrible condition.
The drain in the shower stall is clogged, and it's not fixed during cleaning.
The shower faucet closes under its own weight, requiring a hand to hold it in place.
You can shower in the bathtub, but the drain blocking valve is damaged, and the shutoff mechanism is broken. The valve is simply installed in the trap with blue tape 🤦🏻.
The valve is difficult to remove, but it can be done. The faucet in the bathtub has no pressure, allowing for a good body wash, but washing your hair is extremely difficult.
There's no ironing board or iron in the room; they are provided upon request, with a 20-30 minute wait. The ironing board is far from fresh, and a thin, multi-purpose cover is stretched over a dented metal frame, causing it to dangle in folds. There's no door lock (latch or chain), and the switch on the lock doesn't prevent hotel staff from accessing the room. Waking up to a service representative walking around the room is a real experience. I encountered this after the first night, and I've since put up a ”do not disturb” sign.
If your room isn't cleaned in the morning, for any reason, it won't be cleaned that day without your reminder.

SweetDumplingNovotel Almaty City Centre Hotel.
Set in the heart of Almaty City, a few hundred feet from the iconic Soviet era Khazakstan Hotel and 20 to 30 minutes from Almaty Airport, this Novotel is modern, clean and with all the usual, essential amenities.
Only one main downside is the room aircon is set by the hotel during winter months to run warm. It cannot be adjusted in the room so it became too hot and stuffy. We had to call an engineer who just unlocked the window security lock and we had to have the window wide open through the night allowing all the street noise below to echo into the room.
A pleasant stay for a few nights if travelling onwards, but a bit pricey at £170.00 pounds sterling a night for two people!

The hotel wasn't crowded and the room was spacious, so we had a comfortable stay.
They promptly handled even our minor requests, and all the staff were friendly. All the food prepared for breakfast was excellent because the ingredients were fresh; the fruit was especially tasty, and the omelets were so good that we ordered them every morning.

The hotel is an excellent choice because of its price, location and facilities available for guests. The staff is responsive and good. There are a few convenient stores nearby, and a late-night doner place. Overall not a bad place to stay.
