Great
LLiraWe stayed for 5 days in September. The weather was lovely and sunny, with occasional rain at night. The tides were quite noticeable: low in the morning, high in the evening. The beach itself was partially rocky, but past the pier, it was sandy. We had booked a family room with two beds, so we were very grateful when they upgraded us to two separate, adjoining rooms in one bungalow. Our room was well-equipped with a new air conditioner, bathrobes, umbrellas, a beach bag, coffee-making facilities, bottled water, and toiletries (even a hair tie!). A hairdryer was also provided, and the bed featured a lovely canopy. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would consider returning. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always happy to help with anything we needed, such as arranging a tuk-tuk to another hotel for 200 baht. Breakfasts were satisfactory. However, we were quite disappointed with the dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food quality was poor; dishes were often undercooked or had small portions. The menu photos didn't accurately represent the food, and the dish descriptions were incorrectly translated. Subsequently, we opted to dine at a nearby family-run beach eatery, which served delicious and affordable meals.

GGuest UserThe taxi from the pier cost 250 baht. The beach right in front of the hotel is fantastic, and the male attendant who manages the towels was really good – he's the reason I gave the last 100 baht as a tip. His enthusiasm also led us to book a night squid fishing trip for 9 people. However, all the staff here seem to have two different attitudes: one for Western guests and another for Chinese guests. While everyone else managed basic politeness, the female server in the restaurant (pictured in photo 2) was incredibly rude to us. This is my fifth time vacationing in Thailand, and I've also traveled to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius, the Maldives, and Hamilton Island, but this is honestly the first time I've encountered a staff member so rude. She pointed her finger at me and loudly demanded that I push the water bottle from the middle of the table to against the wall. I was completely stunned. Upon check-in, they asked for 500 baht per night for an extra bed for our 6-year-old. Since the three of us could comfortably share the king-sized bed, we declined and only paid for the child's breakfast, which was 200 baht per day. One evening, we also encountered teenagers on the beach who were indiscriminately bullying kids playing there. I never even saw something like this in Australia, yet it happened on Koh Samet. Thankfully, my English speaking skills are decent, and after a big argument, he ended up yelling that he was going to call the police. Overall, I still wouldn't recommend booking a hotel here. The pricing attracts a certain type of clientele, and since there are many very cheap hotels nearby, the beach attracts all sorts of tourists.

GGuest UserLarissa consisted of Shelley huts in stilts。 the room is clean . The staff is friendly. It’s very deep in about 15 mins from tge pier and taxi takes you to saew Kew beach hotel , you will have to walk another 5-6 mins on an uneven road . For visitors who cannot walk, the hotel is unsuitable .No breakfast and no cutlery so walk for every meal . Beach is near  .

Nnicky_bVery chilled place. Nestled in a cove with lovely white sand beach. Rocky in some areas. A handful of bars. Not too busy. Lots of dogs on the beach. Might be a problem if you have kids that are scared of dogs. Breakfast nice. Hotel staff are very attentive. They arranged for someone to fix the A/C while we were there. Quiet. Location. Sounds of sea at night, which was very calming. Lovely location. Clean place with comfy beds. Not top end in terms of accommodation options, but certainly very pleasant and good value for money.

GGuest UserLocation is amazing! Beach is beautiful! Room is quite old and pool view room has no privacy at all. Bathroom was not so fresh. Selection of food for breakfast is suitable for 3 star hotel. Restraint is very tasty food! Recommend to have a lunch. Found hotel Manager is not very friendly. Stuff is okay, but won’t say that very welcoming people.

NNNiKKWe recently stayed at Samet Cabana Resort on Ao Wong Duean, and it was exactly the tropical escape we were looking for. We booked the Beach Cabana, and we cannot recommend it enough. The Room: Staying in the Beach Cabana meant waking up to the sound of the waves every morning. Stepping out onto the porch with a view of the ocean was the highlight of the trip. The room was clean, comfortable, and had that authentic island bungalow feel while still having modern amenities (the AC worked great!). Being just a few steps from the water made all the difference. The Location: Ao Wong Duean is a fantastic beach, it’s lively enough to have good restaurants and fire shows at night, but much more relaxed than the busy main pier area. The water was clear and great for swimming right in front of the resort. Service & Food: The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, from check-in to check-out. The breakfast buffet had a good mix of options to start the day. If you are coming to Koh Samet, do yourself a favour and splurge a little for the Beach Cabana. It transforms the trip from a standard hotel stay into a real beach holiday. We’ll definitely be back!

JJules66This is a good low budget option to experience island life, but not that low budget £60 per night ( January 2026) We are very familiar with island life in Thailand and appreciate that some things just don’t work as well. The location of Malibu Samed Resort is gorgeous, it’s more or less situated on the beach of the small quaint Wong Duean Bay. There are several beach restaurants available, the vibe is chilled, without the drinking or ******** culture. It’s lovely. Our welcome was warm, the staff were great and happy to help with our luggage. Our room is small 16 m² with 2 single beds, some hanging and storage space. It has a rustic feel to it. There is a fridge which is always welcome, tea and coffee making facilities, which we always appreciate, as well as a safety deposit box & flat screen TV. The bed and pillow are comfortable but not sumptuous. Towels are provided and I would say are of typical island quality. However the shower was an issue, obviously water is limited on the island and taking a hot shower was challenging but actually having a good supply of water either in the evening or morning was very hit and miss. Missed more often, it gets frustrating when you can’t have an adequate shower, that’s one of the reasons we move about frequently. Breakfast is of limited quality but there are a variety of options including cereal, hot food both western & Thai. Toast cereal and tea & coffee. The pool area was hardly used during our stay so a nice quiet retreat from the beach was available.

GGuest UserI have stayed at Flamingo Villa before (In the Garden Room), but this time I decided to stay in the loft room, which apparently is called the Family Room. Flamingo Villa is somewhat strange, since the ”Hotel” is basically three rooms within the Samed Your House hotel. Our neighbors actually knocked on our door to try and check in ~ You need to call the phone number for Flamingo Villa in order to check in, as someone will come out to meet you. So, bottom line up front: Flamingo Villa is awesome, but get ready to kill a lot of mosquitos! The owners do a good job of lighting incense sticks to try and keep the them away, but there are fountains around the area and the mosquitos are no joke. I would say I killed at least 10 in our room, so it is super important to make sure you close the sliding doors behind you every time you go in and out of the room. The Family Room was awesome. The lower floor is basically a living room with a large day bed and a big TV with great speakers. The toilet room is separate from the shower. The stairs to the loft are pretty steep, but once you get up there it is really nice. There are two queen beds in the loft, and the glass wall and sliding door separate the bedroom from the main room, which is great because the bedroom has its own AC unit, and the glass keeps out the mosquitoes. The beds were comfortable, but be careful because the ceiling is very low above the beds. The view from up in the loft is very peaceful, and the owners obviously spent a lot of time decorating the place (The Christmas tree was still up while we were there). The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Sai Kaew Beach, and the pier for the ferry is only a 10 minute walk ~ but you can take a mini bus if you would like. The hotel is close to restaurants and stores, and there are two 7-11s close to the beach. We rented a motor bike the last time we were in Koh Samed, but Sai Kaew Beach seems to be the nicest on the island, so we just hung out there. I love Flamingo Villa, and I am sure I will stay there again in the future.

GGuest UserFor that prince there‘s not much to expect. However, the check-in wasn’t easy to find. The room wasn’t cleaned during the 3 nights I stayed there. The bathroom was very basic, what wouldn’t be a problem, but the ventilation was designed in such a way that there were always new mosquito in there and you couldn’t really close the door to the bathroom, so you had the choice of blocking the ventilation and having bad smell or leaving it open and having mosquito bites. It‘s not a room directly at the beach. The beach is quite packed and food there rather expensive. Would definitely go for another beach.
