The hotel is new and clean with excellent service, and has walkable distance to Thamel. There is security officer in hotel entrance which made me feel safe, and also a chinese restaurant with good quality of food. All of the staff can speak very well Chinese and English so communication is not a problem in the hotel. The most attractive point of the hotel is the owner å°ę who is also a travel company owner. He helped me arranged airport transport, two-day Pokhara trip as well as one-day sunrise and city-sightseeing trip which were all very well organised with reasonable price. He speaks fluent Mandarin and I communicated with him via wechat for all the arrangements (just email the hotel to ask for his wechat). I can truly feel that the owner and all staff made best effort to make every visitor to feel warm and welcoming like a home. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kathmandu.

Pros
Great location for exploring Themal and provided you are not too high up, you shouldn't hear any road noise as it's set back. I was on the 4th floor and could hear the incessant beeping motorbikes but had moved from the first floor where i heard none (but was directly above the kitchen so could hear banging and chairs scraping from around 6am). 2nd floor is probably a good choice
Staff were all excellent
Room cleaned daily with 2 large bottles of water provided each day
Breakfast was ok - decent variety of fruit, local and western with custom eggs. Coffee was instant though.
Air con has heat facility
No deposit required on check-in
Toiletries provided
Cons
Some noise depending on your room location - dont stay in 107 or room directly above the kitchen/restaurant
No safe for passport, cash etc in room
Breakfast area isn't particularly clean i.e. dirty table cloths/mats
Poor standard of fixtures/fittings e.g. gaps in windows and doors, curtains dont quite close right, dirty shower curtain, the rooms have seen better days but for the price its still good value.
No coffee or milk in room (or 3-in one)
No phone charging point near the bed
Bathroom mat was old and dirty, no floor towel
Tips: take extra passport photo if you intend to get a sim card at the airport, unlimited data one with nepal telecom cost me $10 - signal was mostly ok.
Get your currency before you arrive or take enough to convert there, the atm machines are expensive
Taxi from airport to Themal should be around 350 rupees working on 50 rupees per km plys 30 rupees start charge.
You will be hounded relentlessly by people from the second you leave the plane for tour services etc. It may seem impolite but dont make eye contact, say no thank you and keep walking, otherwise you will spend your entire trip speaking to them.
Right now its cold at night, pack accordingly.
Be prepared to pay for everything, every temple, every place of historical interest - foreigners are charged around 1000-2000 rupees each time. E.g. all the Durbar squares, main stupas and temples.
Don't assume that because Nepal is a developing country it is cheap. It isn't. In fact i found it comparable to some developed countries and not cheaper than say Thailand. A meal would cost me around 1000 rupees. In a smaller more local place you may pay 500.
Don't take your new trainers, it's a very dirty, dusty city but exactly what you would expect if you've ever seen it on TV - it's all part of the experience.
For exploring all of the main parts of Kathmandu, id say 5 days is a good amount of time. I recommend the everest helicopter tour but on that note i will say that tours are very expensive here, more expensive than even Hong Kong, Thailand, etc!! I ended up walking to the main temples, Chandragiri, Bakhtapur for the more local experience.

The hotel is located on Thamel Street in Kathmandu, which should be the most prosperous street. There are all kinds of supporting facilities around it, not to mention the countless restaurants. We moved here from other hotels. The previous hotel had a very serious power outage and the hygiene was also worrying, but this one was not at all. There was basically no power outage for three or four days. Occasionally, the backup power supply was immediately supplied. It can be said that there was no impact at all, and the stay experience was excellent. The hotel was newly opened this year and is equipped with an elevator, which is very convenient for going up and down the stairs. There is a local Nepalese beauty at the front desk who can speak Chinese. It is said that she returned to Nepal from studying in China. Communication is completely stress-free. Everything went very smoothly with her when I checked in. In addition to her, the other handsome men and beautiful women at the front desk can speak English, so I had a very pleasant stay these few days. The boss and shareholders are also Chinese, very friendly and friendly. As long as we raise any problems, they can solve them for us immediately. The hotel is also equipped with washing machines and dryers, and even a gym, which is very very very convenient. The hotel is very very very clean. I am a person with mysophobia. I am so moved to tears to be able to live in such a clean and hygienic hotel in Kathmandu. When we finally left, one of the bosses and shareholders even arranged a car to take us to the airport. We didn't have to worry about it at all. Every staff member we met in this hotel was very nice. It is worth staying at this hotel. I recommend it. Chinese people don't cheat Chinese people.

I was worried because there were no reviews from Japanese people, but the Google rating was good, so I made a reservation and it was a big hit! The design seemed new, so I asked and found out that it had just opened last month, and it was incredibly clean! (That's why I understand why there were so few reviews) I think this hotel is suitable for Japanese people, so I'll write a review.
Good points
ā¢It's a new building, so it's new and clean
ā¢There are many global design outlets (there is also a USB type at the bedside)
ā¢There are two 1-liter PET bottles of water
ā¢It has a jacuzzi, sauna, and mist sauna (I didn't use it, but the mist sauna smelled so good that I wanted to use it. It seems like it would be better to bring a swimsuit.)
ā¢The breakfast is delicious! They also make masala tea!
ā¢The staff is super kind (the manager also understands a little Japanese)
ā¢It's located off the main road, so it's quiet at night!
ā¢The bed mat was firm and I slept soundly!
Notes
ā¢I thought I had booked a room with a bathtub, but it wasn't available for my room type! If you need one, it might be better to inquire in advance.
ā¢I stayed for multiple nights, but cleaning was not included. I had my luggage spread out so that was better for me, but I wish they had at least changed the towels. I asked at the front desk and they gave me new towels so it was no problem!
There was a currency exchange on the way to the hotel and the rate wasn't bad. Anyway, it was clean and cheap, and if I stay in Kathmandu I'll come back!

I booked a double room, but ended up getting a twin bed. The two beds were put together, and the gap in the middle was obvious. I was a little speechless.
The location is OK, close to Durbar Square, and easy to get a taxi.
The courtyard is not big, and the environment is OK. There is a small open-air balcony in the room on the first floor~

The location is on the edge of the pedestrian street in Thamel District, close to the pedestrian street, and very quiet. However, the entrance is a bit shabby. There are many European and American guests staying. The breakfast is a combination of Indian and Western styles. There is an outdoor dining area where you can smoke. The front desk is a bit small and not atmospheric. The hotel is listed as a four-star hotel. The hotel's service staff have very good attitudes and have no problem communicating in English at the front desk.

From The Beatles and Lonely Planetās Tony Wheeler in the 1970s, legendary mountaineers, authors and explorers in the ā80s & ā90s to present-day parliamentarians, presidents and world-famous artists, the Kathmandu Guest House (KGH) has been housing travelers since 1968. From the iconic Heritage Building built in 1902 to the modern-designed rooms in the new annexes, the KGH has always been at the top of restoration and upgrading every year. Being in the heart of Thamel, the KGH is known as a landmark, as it was the KGH that started the tourist hub of Thamel.
Within the compounds of KGH, luscious 15,000 sq. ft. of manicured garden with mango, pomelo, multi colored bougainvillea trees & well curated art, you can enjoy solitude, laughter with friends, or the sun with a cold drink or a hot cup of Himalayan coffee.
With the recent opening of the Museum of Nepali Art (MoNA) and the Kathmandu Art House within its premises, the Kathmandu Guest House (KGH) stands as one of the very few hotels in the world to house a world-class museum. MoNA is dedicated to celebrating the works of living Nepali artists, spanning the spectrum from traditional to contemporary visual arts. Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Art House offers a vibrant open studio experience where guests can meet artists in action, engage with their creative process, and purchase original artworks on the spot.
KGH is an immersive experience, tastefully serving authentic Nepali, Chinese, Indian and Continental cuisine with most probably the best Himalayan coffee. One can also enjoy a Nepali tea ceremony experience with flagship store of Nepal Tea Collective. The rooftop lounge on the 7th floor is a perfect sundowner to view the Swayambhunath Stupa in the Himalayan sunset.
With 115 different priced rooms, the size and views may be a bit different, but our hospitality is the same. Being one of the earliest running hotels of Nepal, we take pride in our values and serve all our guests with warmth.
GGuest User2024.05.13
A very interesting hotel. The old building I stayed in was a bit old, but the hotel has a very beautiful and comfortable garden, providing a quiet place to rest in the heart of the city. The hotel has a rich history, next to the National Art Museum, and there is an art house in the hotel, which has many interesting works and the artists themselves are present. The hotel restaurant looks good (I didn't try it myself), and there is also a Himalayan Java coffee.
Not your ordinary hotel, a hotel with a soul!

Amazing
GGuest UserI recently stayed at Hotel Anuttara in Nepal and had a great experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay. My room was clean and well-equipped, providing all the essentials for a comfortable visit. The hotelās restaurant offered a diverse menu with tasty local dishes. Its convenient location made it easy to access shopping and dining options nearby. Although not a retreat, the lively atmosphere added to the experience, making it ideal for travelers wanting to immerse themselves in the local culture. I highly recommend Hotel Anuttara for anyone visiting the area!
GGuest UserI had the most wonderful experience at Lo Mustang in November 2024. I came to Nepal for a wedding and Anisha at the front desk went above and beyond. Customer service was 10/10. I got recommendations for tailoring, jewelry, dry cleaning, and local dresses with transportation. Deepika, front desk manager, was fantastic always making sure my needs were being met and that my stay was comfortable. The hotel is in the perfect location with great amenities. I initially chose this spot because of the beautiful traditional decor. It was beautiful in person with murals on each floor. Breakfast is fantastic with a roof top view. I booked a second time on my way back home because it was so great. I traveled solo and left with new friends.

Great
JJohn Vincent (JV)New Hotel with Great Roof Top View, needs to improve.
Room is nice, smells new, however bed sheet is completely new , itchy , itās like just bought and not washed , direct to the bed or been there dusty for long time. Towel is dirty white, not convenient.
Water is totally disappointed, Color yellow, un-filtered and smells. Need proper filtration.
Massage, all is new, bed is sounding haha , no music , no aroma for 8k local currency, 1 hour, masseuse was good.
Food some are great, some are tough.
View is the best for this hotel, but they open only afternoon to 10.. if you are sunrise person , this hotel is not for you. Sun set was great.
Staffs are friendly, however next visit should be more thoughtful on guiding guests, where is elevator, what are facilities and hotel can offer.
Breakfast was fair, price is recommendable.
AAli Raza Tabassi.During my 10 days of stay I truly loved the hotel, the staff from reception to house keeping were amazing and above all Kishor from reception and Saroj, how can only forget hom, what great person. I'm very thankful to him for the support he gave me in all my needs, from shopping, site seeing and much much more, I sincerely wish to thank Saroj , your truly a gentleman and I surely will never forgot you.
Thank you Kishor, Kumar Mrs. Pornima, and above all Saroj.
I recommend this good hotel , it's worthy of stay,
УУлŃŃŠ½Š° Š.Everything was great apart from a little bit of construction noise in the early days. Great location in Tamel, on a quiet street away from the noise of the city. The staff were as friendly and friendly as possible and responded to any request. Free airport transfer is a convenient addition to stay at this hotel. Breakfasts are not very diverse, but satisfying, however, I did not have enough vegetables. Hotel manager Sachin arranged for us the mountain flight at a cost lower than the travel agencies and even the airline itself offered, with transfers from the hotel and back after flight. Great place for this cost. Thanks!

Great
CChen PinWe had a pleasant 5 night stay in Skye Inn. The hotel provided free pickup from the airport. The staff were very friendly. The daily buffet breakfast was tasty with some changes in the menu every day. Masala tea could be ordered for breakfast and it tasted well. The hotel was right in the middle of Thamel and we could just explore the area freely on foot. The director of the hotel, Mr Dinanath Panta, arranged a 3 day private excursion of Kathmandu for us with a guide and driver using a 6 seater van of the hotel at reasonable price. We would definitely stay in the hotel again if we were to come back to Kathmandu.

Very Good
JJazelPerfect hotel in Kathmandu! Clean, great service, bright and nice room, warm shower with toiletries and clean towels. The restaurant downstairs serves very nice food like fish sadheko (nepalese sauce) and plain lassi. If u chose breakfast option, itās buffet with an egg station. 5min walk to Thamel centre and the coffee stall just below serves really good coffee. Just nearby is a Mountain Tea shop (turn left on main street) that sells masala tea at a good price (100g NPR200 while other shops sell NPR400) - u can try asking for even better price. My friend moved over from a hostel she booked after hearing my experience!
GGuest UserThe room and area was good, but I experienced a scam provided by the receptionist.
I have consulted the tour advice with the reception, the guy provided me an excellent two-day rafting package that called by a tourist agent.
In the tour, that was a disaster, the tour only half-day with 1/3 distance of his presented tour.
The cost he charged me is almost 5 times of the normal price in internet. I wouldĀ prefer that should be a very special tour and different from I found in internet.
That was totally scam and waste my time and money, it was extremely affect my plan and mood. I would report this experience to the concerned parties. It really a shame of Nepalese.
GGuest UserNice Old Hotel, Great Staff with few needs to improve.
Swimming pool is totally disappointment. Better to shut down, than keep running and not swimmable, waist of energy. The water is dirty, no star at all.
The lobby, the room and Ghurka bar are still great.
2 power shutdowns in 1 day, I believe they are struggling with power shortages due to dark lounges.
Breakfast was so so, coffee or tea should be not a challenge to serve first, sometimes took half of meal before they come. Many Tables are not stable and aligned, egg can easily roll over to other side. Atleast 3 tables on my experience.
Room is comfortable, nice bed and always fresh linen. Only noisy from AC , maintenance team came twice on my room to fix, though transfer was offered on my last 2 days.
Managers should not standing in buffet line, either they should help the line staffs or directing the team, talking business in public is not of our guests concern.
Front desk Trainee, has good presence, I thought first he is manager.
A lot can be improved and polished, the hotel has a great potential, nice design, great facilities and great staffs. I wish that management should look all themselves and review those small details.
