Mastinell Cava & Boutique Hotel by Olivia Hotels Collection

We recently had a delightful stay at the Cava & Hotel Mastinell. We arrived at the hotel following our overseas flight, and we were thrilled that we could access a room upon arrival to freshen up - often when I travel to Europe, the hotel does not allow access until 3 PM, even if rooms are available. The Hotel Mastinell was a great place to start our visit because the serene location was great to relax and get over the jet lag, while providing great sightseeing. We hiked around the property (miles of trails nearby) and visited several nearby vineyards. We opted to not rent a car, and the hotel was helpful arranging taxis and ground transport. The staff were great and friendly. We added the cava tour and tasting and Alex was an entertaining guide - a great addition to a visit. We dined twice at En Rima; once ala carte and once for the tasting menu. The restaurant was great at accommodating for allergies, and of course, the food was fantastic. We were drawn to the hotel for its unique architecture, and would recommend it to others.

Unique hotel with attentive staff. All of the staff work very hard to make your stay whatever you want it to be. The Cava produced at the winery is very good and the restaurant is excellent. Recommend having a car because it is off the beaten path. Very easy driving in the area, We rented a car at the Barcelona airport and returned it on our way into the city in order to avoid driving in Barcelona. Driving is not stressful in this area. The hotel is happy to recommend other local wineries, all of which were different and fun experiences. We also drove to Priorat for a day which is about an hours drive. Great red wines in that are, near the hotel we enjoyed many different Cavas and white wines. Rooms are beautiful with luxurious bathrooms and bedrooms. Large soaking tub with separate shower and double vanities. The architecture is very attractive and even more beautiful at night. Very peaceful sleep. We arrived very early from a transatlantic flight and they were happy to allow us to check in during the morning with no extra fee as the room was available.

It was our second visit to Mastinell. We had their gastronomic meny, which was amazing. 8 course dinner with winepairing. Food is delicous and all of their wines are are really tasty. Service is great too. I have some proplematic foodallergies and they cope with that in a perfect way. I have only positive things to say about this lovely wineyard and restaurant.

I’ve been curious about Cava & Hotel Mastinell for years after seeing it on my Instagram feed, so I was excited to finally have an opportunity to make a two-night reservation at the start of our post-Christmas Spain/France vacation. I chose a package rate on the hotel’s website for their Deluxe Suite that included breakfast both mornings, a three course dinner one night, and a cava tour/tasting on-site. I had some questions prior to our arrival, and they were always answered promptly and courteously. I also arranged for the hotel to send a driver to the Barcelona airport to pick us up and bring us to the hotel upon our arrival. (It was about a 45 minute, 100 euro trip.) The hotel is just outside the city of Vilafranca del Penedés at the centre of a vast vineyard. The striking architecture is modern and edgy, but with nods to the past (Gaudi) that still make it welcoming. We arrived late afternoon, so our suite was ready. We filled out some paperwork and enjoyed a complimentary glass of cava, then we were escorted to our suite for a quick tour. The suite was even larger than anticipated, spanning the full width of the building, with vast windows on three sides overlooking the vineyards and the city in the distance. The views were mesmerizing. The living room had a dining table, small sofa, television, and minibar. The large bathroom had an industrial vibe with lots of concrete, two sinks, a walk-in shower, and a large tub set in front of one of the two enormous circular windows in the suite (the other was in the bedroom, opposite the bed). The bedroom was a couple of steps down from the living room and had ample storage for all of our clothes. There were also a couple of chairs and a small table in front of the window, but since it faced the driveway into the hotel, it would be a very exposed place to sit. After we unpacked and settled in, we opened a bottle of cava and placed a room service order, as we were exhausted from the 16 hours of travel. The food was delivered promptly and was delicious. I especially recommend their version of coca bread; it was the best we had anywhere in Spain. The next day we enjoyed a delicious and generous continental breakfast served right to our table (no buffet), then walked into the city to explore the area for a few hours. Our dinner reservation was for 8:30 PM, and we were surprised to be the first guests to arrive (it didn’t get very busy until about 9:30 PM). The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that the cava and wine we enjoyed with the meal was also included. The next morning, after breakfast, we joined another couple for an English tour of the cava making facility followed by a tasting. It was an interesting and informative tour, and the guide was impressively knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his subject. We enjoyed all three wines we tasted. I wish we could purchase them back in Canada! The hotel arranged for the same driver to bring

Recently stayed at this charming hotel in the Penedes area. Well-informed and welcoming desk employees. Other staff was also very helpful and friendly. Surrounded by rolling vineyards, it's a haven of tranquility, providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The rooms were comfortable with nice view over the vineyards. If you're seeking a retreat where you can immerse yourself in the world of wine, experience good service, and bask in the beauty of a vineyard's embrace, this hotel is the perfect choice. Definitely recommend the guided winery tour and tasting.

The hotel will meet all your expectations. Very professional and friendly reception. The location is very nice among the vineyards. Luxurious rooms and pool in incredible surroundings. The restaurant is of good quality and so is the breakfast. Recommended is a visit to the cava factory.

Overall we were satisfied, very good clean room, very good wine tour, good breakfast, nice location. Good service at arrival, only reason not giving 5 is an overcharge of EUR 60 for a massage treatment, despite proving price on mobile website.

Amazing hotel and restaurant in a wonderful place surrounded by cava, wine and nature. I can only say that coming to this hotel is an experience really to repeat. Staff make feel five stars environment
