We stayed in Cottage 1, 2 & cabin 7. We went with all our family it was absolutely 100% awesome magical first time at the Lodge, awesome to the kaitiaki of the place keep up the mahi and also Marnie thank you so much for taking us for a tour around the property "Beautiful" when we arrived. And it was also beautiful to meet the owners 😍 they felt so welcoming. We felt home once we walked through the doors.

We had a wonderful stay, beautiful place, great for families with young kids. Good location, big garden. The place is run by nice people that were very accessible and happy to help. They offer their kayaks which was very fun for the kids as they have a safe area to practice some basic kayak skills:-)

Great little spot to stay really enjoyed it. Clean and tidy with friendly management and nice and quiet. Close to Waikawau Ramp for fishing. Easy to find and nothing was any trouble. We were able to give boat and motor a quick clean and nice big area for turning around and able to park boat cloase to our chalet. Thanks

Words cannot explain how much my family loved the 6 days we spent at Te Mata Lodge! The river was such a great bonus since they provided free use of their kayaks and rope swings, this had the kids refusing to go on our planned beach days as they preferred the river at the lodge!! Our cabins were more than accommodating and we had great communication leading up to our trip with the hosts Bev and Marnie. Thank you Te Mata lodge, we will 100% book again in the future!

We continue to ask ourselves, why do we keep going back, and what draws us to Te Mata Lodge? There have been changes in ownership over the years, and with it an ever evolving improvement with the space, a falling away of the old to make way for the new! For us, regardless, it is a spiritual connection to the Hosts and land. The gentle sound of the flowing river at night and the buzzing mosquitoes that bite you to remind you that you are still alive. The soothing song of bird life in the morning that awakens you from a deep slumber. All you need to do is close your eyes and listen. Bevan and Family, Marnie and Zelda, thank you for your stories, thank you for continuing to share such a magical place.

Beautiful place. Perfect place to relax and unwind. We enjoyed the hike through the orchards and along the river. Thanks again Bevan, for a hassle free booking and an amazing stay. Looking forward to another stay soon

Do not book the one bedroom cottage. We stayed in the one bedroom cottage. It was shabby & grubby. We'd booked for 6 nights but left after two because of the above. Beware the mosquitoes too. Bring some deterrent. 'Christian ethics', but don't even try getting a refund, even partial To be fair, hosts we met (Marnie) were nice and it is a wonderful location

We were lucky enough to get away for 3 nights in this beautiful location. We stayed in the cottage accommodation with our 2yr old, with some friends staying in cabins. The location is stunning, and we loved the feeling of being tucked away amongst the trees while still being close to the town. It was the perfect spot for our family getaway, we were able to bring our 5m boat, and the close location of the boat ramp and mussel farms meant our 2yr old could comfortably enjoy her first sea fishing experience. The kids had an absolute ball running around, playing on the playground and trampoline, and exploring the river on the kayaks. A huge thanks to our hosts, Bevan was great at accommodating our requests, and it was great to be able to support fellow kiwis in these tough times.

Recently Stayed here with 2 friends and our 6 month old son. I was great the rooms were clean and the staff friendly and accommodating. It was easy to book and easy to find. We had our 7m boat with us which we could turn around at the bottom of the property, (One tight corner we struggled with) but it was secure and safe. Great family areas and activities around the lodge. Booked a cabin which was the budget option but there were chalets and apartments available which i believe are self contained. There was a communal kitchen and bathroom which was fine by us. One great feature you could add would be a filleting station outside, we didn't want to fillet our fish in the kitchen so ended up doing it in the boat. A hose would be handy for the public too. Overall great place and we will be back.
