The customer service that we experienced here was beyond poor. The manager/owner of the hotel made us feel incredibly uncomfortable with his behaviour and comments. Judgmental and explained that we were “going to be trouble” because we were going to a specific event to listen to a specific type of music. He then went on to explain that he either needed a £100 deposit from us or all of my bank card details (including the 3 digit CVC code). I did explain that there was no mention of this at the time of booking and I was told to simply “check it you’ll find it on there”. Later on I did check it, and it stated that the deposit amount was £50 not the £100 that this owner had demanded from us. I later challenged this and the reason for the doubled security deposit was because we were younger and going to see a DJ. I was not comfortable providing this so we comprised and my partner gave him his car keys as means of a deposit. We arrived back to the hotel (not drunk heathens like this owner was clearly expecting) at 1.45, were quiet and respectful to the other guests as we always have been. In the morning I felt so uncomfortable that when we were given the keys back to our car, I felt that it was important I explained how my partner and I had felt during our entire stay. This conversation was met with such a dismissive and combative manner from the owner. He then also let slip that he knew exactly what time we had arrived back at the property which would insinuate that he had checked his CCTV cameras. Of course he is entitled to do so but I would not recommend telling this to guests the following day as it was just really creepy if I am being perfectly honest. We were judged from the first few minutes of being inside of this hotel, for going out and having a nice time. I do understand that not every guest that stays in a hotel is respectful but it is entirely out of line to directly imply that we were going to be “trouble” I also do not think that we would appear to be those sort of guests, dressed smartly, polite and pulling up in a high end car, but there you go, clearly all young people who like to go and listen to music are a nuisance. Confusingly, after a difficult conversation with the owner the following morning and upon our departure I quickly received a notification that my booking had been cancelled. It hadn’t, unfortunately we had stayed there and I had pre paid the full amount. I would absolutely never recommend this property to anyone and I do not expect to be spoken to or treated in that manner as a paying guest.
