This is a very cheap hotel and with that in mind, you expect cheap. It's like a pot noodle. Don't expect much! The staff were friendly, this is a plus and they are helpful too. The food is good value if you need to eat there, it's location is not too bad and the rooms are a good size. Rooms are noisy because it's an old building that hasn't been maintained or updated much. The floors above sound like elephants stamping if the people above move around! This is fine till they go to the loo at 5am! The main issue is deep neglect. It's filthy, surface level clean yes, and this could fool you for a one night stay but they don't do any cleaning during stays, no wipe down of surfaces, no vacume, just change bins and refill the tea. The dust, grime, and rubbish around were poor. I took a video of the grime on the bathroom doorframe but can only upload the photo of the tissue after. In a few weeks of working on it, they could transform the place, but I didn't see any real effort to clean or spruce. One outside area is an overgrown garden full of flowers left to rot and covered in trash. Under our beds was rubbish that was not ours! Carpark is full of trash too. We didn't go to the staff for these things because they were livable and not really deal breakers at £35ish a night. We had better things to do than complain whilst away. But this is a basic and cheap hotel, and if you keep that in mind, it's fine. The free parking makes it cheaper than travel lodge, but they would win over cleaning! Towels and linen are not changed even for a week stay, we read to leave towels on the floor only when they need changing and we did that, leaving them 3 times in the week when they were dirty from things. As there is no shower mat, we had to use towels for that, but only hand towels were changed once at the start despite us leaving dirty towels out to be changed like the instructions stated. The person just threw them over the shower. Our first housekeeper for the first few days was notably better than the other, I could tell the person had changed! 3 mins walk is Ginos cafe, Torquay Fryer and corner shops. Rooms: Good size. No WiFi, one key. En suit bathroom with basic facilities. TV with terrestrial channels, hairdryer, fan, 2 chairs, one wardrobe and bedside table and a desk. Lots of plugs. Bedside lamp. Nearby activities: Best fish and chips at Torquay Fryer, a little gem of a place. Safety: The area is close to the police so it's relatively safe. Many homeless are in torquay and you will walk past the if you walk to town or seafront, some approach you for cash. But it's safe if you remember to keep your stuff close to you. Walkability: 15 to 20 minuets to town ( use Google maps) 3mins to some local restaurants and shops, close to a play park and police station. Close to Torre train station. Parking free Food & drinks: Breakfast till 10am and fairly priced. Dinner served till late, good value for money. Noteworthy details: In case you wondered, the I

Website stated they had entertainment and breakfast. I arrived on holiday with my 6yr old son to be told no entertaintment, no breakfast, no bar. Really put a downer to our plans. The rooms are ok pictures look alot nicer than they actally are. No soap provided and 1 loo roll in bathroom. Not a family stay hotel. The reception staff however was lovely.

Wasn’t the hotel we booked Wasn’t impressed Was told the hotel we booked had a problem so were rebooked into the sister hotel tor park Was told we had an upgrade , we booked a double room was put in a twin ( upgrade). It was further away from the centre Was told it was a no smoking establishment yet the reception stank of smoke . Room although was clean (ish) look better than it actually was Beds were so rocky and un comfortable we took the bedding off and slept on the floor. I feel we were duped this hotel actually were offering rooms for less than we paid but no refund for the difference was offered

Not sure where to start with this one. Experience was terrible it felt more like a hostel than a hotel. When arriving we noticed that there was no restaurant and no breakfast until the fourth day when we saw a breakfast menu on the receptions desk. There was no communication that the hotel was having work done changing the locks on the room doors to digital which was heard all night by the loud disrespectful residences who party till early hours of the morning that seem to live at the hotel.Walls are paper thin so you have no chance to relax watch tv or even sleep. The hotel itself needs a lot of work doing it seems to be wasting away and not being used to its full potential the rooms were clean but it was questionable on how long they had cleaned it for. The only good thing about my experience is the staff that we had seen were nice but wouldn’t say they made an extra mile that other hotel staff do. Due to this experience we decided to check out early

We stayed here as part of a large party at the weekend. A good value hotel, clean with very nice staff. Plusses were huge bath towels and a full length mirror in the bedroom (so rare!) Negatives were no bar! There is lots of lounge area, the hotel is missing a trick, especially where there was a large group staying! Also, it would have been nice to be able to choose what breakfast items you got! I would have requested various items but instead was served all and so wasted some.

I said we are checking out soon and the guy said no you’re leaving now and then said you have 10 mins. So is it now or ten minutes Confusing. He came back less than 10 mins and said he was calling the police as we were ‘refusing’ to leave Which is lies

I stayed at this hotel in the 1980s and made a nostalgic return to see the place on a three night stay. This used to be a Shearing’s hotel and whilst it is very clean and tidy, the hotel is still very dated. There are a few free car parking spaces but plenty of spaces on the road too. It was really disappointing to find that wifi is only obtainable in the communal areas, not in bedrooms. It’s a must for so many people in this day and age. Now ran by H&H the hotel has dispensed with half board and charge for breakfast (currently they offer room only) but it does offer meals to order and snacks from reception. It was admitably winter, but the hotel was quite lifeless, no evening entertainment (maybe they do this in the peak season), but it does have a dart board and pool table. They operate a strict no smoking policy which is fine and letters in your room warn of a £150 fine for breaches of this. Whilst I don’t smoke, a welcoming letter in the room would have been a bit more inviting than a threat to fine. Breakfast is from 8am to 10am and I tried it only the one night, it was awful. I was told at reception whilst paying that the sausages were vegetarian so opted against, what arrived with not bacon at all but some sort of vegan streaky bacon. Tea and Coffee is served with plastic spoons and the entire setting for breakfast is not inviting at all. H&H have some learning to do to get right delivering a better hotel service, I stayed in 30 hotels this year, and the management were irritating, even though I had already paid they phone to ask if I was still coming, and then when I did check in, hours later I got a WhatsApp asking when I would be checking in…

It was local, quiet and very convenient for the job I was working on. Facilities were fine and the staff were very helpful.

Great stay in Torquay as part of my business trip. Good value for money and a short walk to the sea front and places to eat.
