Flower Hotel Ulaanbaatar

Great stay at Flower Hotel in UB. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of dining options, including Korean and Japanese. The sauna includes jacuzzis and a steam room. Popular hotel with tourists. During the time of Naadam, 70% were Japanese and 99% were foreign visitors, according to staff. Rooms are clean and spacious. Housekeeping could have been better, with more cleaning of the bathroom sink, but the bed was made and fresh towels were provided daily. A good walk to the city center, but very doable. Staff arranged a car to the airport. I would stay again.

A mixed bag, I’d say. The hotel was really clean but the room was very small. It has great restaurants and a brilliant Japanese bath and sauna. However, it’s a good walk into the centre and also the air con was ‘ broken’ which meant the small room got very hot.

A really excellent hotel! The reception staff are so friendly and professional, and they speak very good English. They helped give me directions to nearby ATMs and also called a taxi service for me to go to the airport on my last day. The room was always very clean and the bed was comfortable. They have a laundry service that is quite cheap, and it was very convenient - you just have to put your dirty clothes in a bag and give it to reception, and they will return it to your room (usually on the same day). The breakfast was also delicious - a combination of a cooked breakfast, fruits, yoghurts, salad, cereals and cakes, along with tea, coffee and juice. I really enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely come back!

The second stay here wasn't as smooth as the first time. When i arrived, there was no electricity, which meant i had to go up and down to ask someone to help me open the door every time i left the room. Also, even though i booked a massage session at 8:30 pm to spend some time in the sauna beforehand, i was reminded about the massage and pushed to have it starting from 8 pm. Couldn't really relax. As i was missing breakfast due to the morning flight, I was given a bento box - a sandwich, small bottle of water and a snack. Maybe a fruit and a yogurt on top of that would be better.

The public bath would be a high end one even in Japan with its wood finish (although the rocks for the bath itself would not be so obviously fake). The breakfast is also impressive as is the service level. This is a bit on the pricy side for an older building, however, at least in summer.
