Riess City Rooms - Self Check-IN

Central and clean . Only problem is no front desk. The key delivery system is not clear and not user friendly

We were pleasantly surprised with the room being more spacious than expected, also a small kitchen with all the amenities on the same floor.

Small rooms but clean and comfortable, good location (100m from Freud museum), handy for university. No reception so don’t lose the code - or let your phone go flat - or real trouble. No flex from the machine on check in timing - though it’s clock is wrong (“3pm” means “3:06” apparently). There is a kitchen with free fruit/coffee to wait in. Internal courtyard room had no city noise, but poor sound insulation from corridor. Cleaner is sure to wake you on arrival at 8am - though do nothing later. Free coffee capsule and packet croissant was welcome for breakfast - but apparently for one day only (not replenished). Most TV channels didn’t work. Wifi OK, though had to reconnect manually. Nice hot high pressure shower. Good value - probably stay elsewhere in future

God and fair deal for this room. It is placed very closed to center and all tourist attractions, but is situated in a very quiet neighbourhood. The room was nice and clean with simple and functional furniture. The size of the room was bigger than normal hotels which is nice. Access to a new large kitchen was excellent for making your own breakfast (supermarket around the corner with freshly baked bread).

No AC, unfortunately. Otherwise, employees are nice, easy self check-in. There is a restaurant on the ground floor which doesn’t close until 10 or 10:30pm, bring your earplugs if you want to leave the window open.

Great hotel, well located and fuss-free check in and check out. I arrived late at night and it was super easy to find the location, access the key machine and get into my room. The only down side is that there is no air conditioning other than opening the windows which have limits on them, so it was rather warm due to the heatwave. There was a large fan provided which was effective, but quite noisy to use in the night. The in-room drinks (water bottle, coffee sachets) weren't replaced when the housekeeping came each day which was a bit odd, but otherwise it worked perfectly for a short business stay in Vienna.

This is a wonderful place to stay in central Vienna, just outside the ring. There are excellent amenities with lovely restaurants and cafés nearby. City Hotel Riess could make it easier to contact them with questions or concerns. No lift so you need to carry heavy luggage up 3 flights, but worth it for the price and convenience. Cleaning staff were helpful and friendly.

Very basic. Clean and comfortable but definitely not luxury by any means, it felt like we were staying in student accommodation or a private room in a hostel. The area is quiet and fairly central which reflects in the price. Our double bed was next to the wall, we had no bedside tables or bedside lamps, the position of the bed was awkward and we had to crawl to get on and off - not good for those with mobility issues. The room is up two flights of stairs with no lift, so be prepared to carry your suitcase. There is a basic shower room with toiletries, and a coffee machine and croissants in the room were a nice touch. There's a nice sized fridge in the room, also. The laundry room is very convenient with a washer and dryer and ironing board, and the kitchen is well equipped. Self check-in was easy, but be careful because the room doors lock on you when you go into the corridor. We locked ourselves out of the room and had to phone the manager. The manager called housekeeping and someone came very promptly which we were very thankful for. The place seems well managed and very safe with lots of solo travellers and women staying alone. We are rating 3 stars purely due to the basic level of accommodation, but would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone looking for somewhere safe to stay in a convenient location on a tight budget.
