We recently had the joy of celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary with 39 members of our family here in Kihei, Maui, Hawaii. We rented 13 condos at Maui Kamaole through Vacasa, a total of 183 nights. Kihei: Is a great mix of Nature and tourist town. The beaches are almost always in fabulous condition. Turtles frequent the waters. Whale in December-April. A large range of restaurants, shops and tours. Easy access to many, many activities around the island. Maui Kamaole: Upscale condos with well-kept grounds and facilities. A good proportion of permanent residents. Minor annoyances: morning wake-up calls from the roosters and the somewhat heavy-handed requirements to agree to the Maui Kamaole (Homeowner’s Association) rules. We all somehow made it through without a single complaint. Vacasa: It was a pleasure to deal with Vacasa’s division that handles groups bookings. There were many changes among individual travel plans and a couple of changes in the availability of condos during the 6-month period between making the deposit and actual arrival in Kihei. They were handled promptly and to everyone’s satisfaction. The local Vacasa Regional office was also very accommodating and responsive. They made sure the condos were clean, bug free (amazing in Maui) and all the facilities, appliances and furnishings were in working order. They let us ship several extra packages to the office for our pickup. Minor annoyances: 2 of the13 condo lock codes were incorrect (resolved by phone in 10 minutes), 1 condo needed the carpet spotted (resolved next business day). We don’t think we would have been able to bring the entire family together in one condo complex without the services of a company like Vacasa. All the employees we dealt with listened to our concerns and responded with the spirit of Aloha!

I love this location. So close to the beautiful Kamaole III beach, I walked down to the beach nearly every morning for a swim, sometimes multiple times a day. Of course, every condo here is privately owned, and they're all different. I've stayed in two different condos on two different occasions. The first was a 2 bedroom / 2 bath with an impressive view of the ocean from the front of the property. Really great. The decor was a bit outdated, but I didn't mind because it was clean and the kitchen was well-stocked, and the location was unbeatable. The second condo I stayed in was a one-bedroom with 2 baths. This one had a lovely lanai that opened out onto a lawn with lush, tropical landscaping all around. The only problem I had was that the one-bedroom units are on the ground floor, beneath the 2-bedroom units. I could hear footsteps and the murmur of voices upstairs constantly. And whoever was sleeping in the bedroom directly above me had a vibrating alarm clock on their phone that went off at around 3am and 4am on multiple mornings, and it would wake me up instantly every time. And then after it initially went off on those mornings, it would ring and vibrate again like every 30-45 minutes. Very disconcerting. I sent a very considerate, friendly note to the people upstairs, but they ignored it. So I spoke with the property management office and they tried to help to no avail. Really disappointing. I lost a lot of sleep, but the beauty and warm spirit of Maui kept me happy. However, I don't intend to stay in a downstairs one-bedroom condo here again - it's clear that there is no sound-proofing between floors. If you're sensitive to noise at all, I don't recommend booking a downstairs unit (as far as I know, all the one-bedroom units are downstairs, underneath the 2-bedroom units which are on the upper floors). The two pool areas are really nice, especially the upper pool area that has beautiful, lush, tropical landscaping.

Positives: excellent location, fantastic view of the ocean. We saw whales every day and beautiful sunsets at night. Very close to beaches, and restaurants. Condo was clean, roomy for 2 couples, nicely stocked kitchen. Nice big tv, we watched the Super Bowl. What is better than the ocean and football! Parking space right next to our building. We were able to check in 2 hours early also. Only negative is the carpet is dirty and should be replaced.

Our group of four adults had an amazing two weeks at this awesome condo. The owner Jason was excellent to deal with. We had to reschedule our trip twice due to Covid restrictions and Jason was very accommodating, he went out of his way to help make our trip happen. Can’t thank him enough!! The condo itself is perfect in every way, it is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for cooking your own meals and also lots of beach gear so you don’t have to buy or rent anything. The views from the lanai are spectacular and we watched the sunset every night while having appetizers and drinks. There are two bedrooms with very comfortable beds and plenty of storage. Each bedroom has its own bathroom so you have lots of privacy. Close by you will find plenty of beaches, restaurants and grocery stores. If you want to go on an ocean excursion there is a boat ramp a short stroll away from the condo offering plenty of snorkeling and diving trips. I would strongly recommend staying in this condo, the only downside was having to leave, but we will be back. Strongly recommend booking directly through the owner: mauikamaolea210@gmail.com

Our experience staying in unit A101 was excellent. Everything was clean and nicely decorated - and fully stocked with everything we needed for our easy strolls to the beaches just across the road (beach chairs, boogie boards, kids toys, etc). The kitchen was well stocked as well, and had the things we needed for preparing and serving food. The back patio was perfect for viewing the evening sunset and rinsing off the sand on our feet! Also, the owners website was extremely helpful in pre-planning: secretsofmaui.com

We traveled to Maui as a family in February of 2023. There were 19 members of the family that stayed at this location in 3 separate condos. first and foremost this is a beautiful location. obviously, the whole island is wonderful, but the proximity to the beach, as well as the small town of Kihei, made this a prime spot. The condo was very clean. and spacious, and a quick walk to both pool locations. speaking of the pools, there are awesome. My family really enjoyed both pools as well as 2 of the hottest hot tubes I've ever been in. it was great. Overall it was a pretty great location. Ok, that said on to the negatives. As mentioned above we traveled with our large family including several small children between the ages of 4-10. I would definitely not recommend this location if you have small children. This location has a lot of older folks and has very strict quiet hours rules. I understand this rule, but when you have several small children in Hawaii for the first time they want to run around, have fun, and play games at the pool. The children were scolded and warned at 5:00 pm by the staff to not play "marco polo:" due to the nature of the game being too loud. again I understand quiet hours and being respectful, but if these were small children playing and laughing, not a bunch of teenagers after a tournament baseball game. We were also sent a warning email from staff due to the children being too loud in the morning. this was after our first night when the children were still getting used to the time change, we had a 5-hour timezone change, so they were up around 5-6 am that first morning. again it just seemed we had to walk on eggshells with our children which was just a shame. other than that it was a beautiful location, that I would definitely stay at again once my children are a little older.

Maui Kamaole is a great location. Close to so many fabulous beaches, walking trails, shops and restaurants. Beautiful grounds. Two pools. Several BBQ areas. At times the pools could be very crowded. I am surprised there is not another pool considering the number of condos on the property. As with most condo complexes, the condo units widely vary in terms of cleanliness and decor. Units are spacious, parking right outside units, very comfortable location. Highly recommend.

We complained about pests, no AC in the unit and a running toilet. We got compensated $400. Vacasa offered $120 but we didn’t accept that amount so they had to get manager approval to compensate $400. Our friends stayed in another unit in the same complex also managed by Vacasa and they complained about pests as well as no working AC. They were offered $200 but when they heard we were offered $400, Vacasa also approved that as well. Vacasa is very lenient on their compensation policies. Maui Kamaole is a nice place to stay at for the most part, but they have a serious pest control issue.

This is a lovely and well cared for unit at ground level in the first level, the lowest level of the hillside it is on , and closest to the beaches. It features split air conditioning back and front and two terraces, one of which is always in shade. The owners take pride in their unit and they offer good amenities. They were a pleasure to deal with. We had a private rental with them through another remote connection so we know nothing about their booking agents or system. The complex it is in is quite large with two pools and many well-sited units that offer good privacy within well thought-out landscaping. I would be very surprised if anyone were to have anything to complain about with their experience in this unit under current owners; it's all positive.
