Holiday Inn Washington

Stayed here last night on a coach trip to Durham, rooms modern and clean, small bathroom but sufficient, no fridge in room, there was a hairdryer, nice shampoo,bodywash,tea/coffee facilities. Evening meal, if you are on a trip you have to sit as a party, and the like you to share tables with other guests, but we sat on our own and insisted we stayed there, but you could tell staff weren't happy with some staring looks from the manager, the meal was OK,you get a sheet of paper with 3 choices for srarter main and pudding,we chose chicken dinner, not big meals but quite nice and hot,a bottle of wine was £14,with a discount you get with your room card, now breakfast is fantastic full English which you helped your self, warm also.cereal yougurt fruit, porridge, toast station very plenty full, would stay again, just off putting about seating arrangements,as you feel you are treat differently to other guests, and I feel its the coach party's that bring the money in.
Campanile Washington - Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

Me and my partner visited the Campanile Hotel Washington 20th-25th. Our stay was absolutely brilliant from beginning to end. Going from arrival, the staff were so pleasant I'm greeting and welcoming us, they constantly asked if everything was alright everyday. The food was brilliant breakfast in particular was perfect. The room was outstandingly clean and everything was replaced when needed. Shower was impeccable! Some staff even treated our pooch which was very appreciated. No problems at all throughout our stay. Many thanks to all the Campanile Hotel staff and the Deputy General Manager for everything. See you all again soon.
Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel Golf & Spa

I was booked in here for one night whilst on business in the area and I must admit I was a little underwhelmed by the experience. The hotel is strangely laid out and somewhat soulless, with all the amenities at one end of the building. The bedrooms are spacious and although rather basic and tired, they are adequate for a one night stay. Unfortunately my bed was uncomfortable and in need of a new mattress and I was only able to use the hand-held shower attachment from the bath taps, as the wall mounted fixture didn't work. Talking to colleagues, this didn't seem to be the case in all rooms so maybe I was just unlucky - if I'd been staying longer, I would have asked to change rooms. Food and drink in the restaurant was okay although on the pricey side, but to be fair, the staff were friendly and efficient. I didn't bother with breakfast as it was overpriced at £17 a head and from colleagues' advice, not worth it. Overall, I thought my stay was average for the price paid and I came away feeling rather disappointed with the experience. Would I stay here again if returning to the area for business? Probably not I'm afraid.
