There is a horse farm outside the hotel. Doncaster is a famous city in South Yorkshire. It is the hometown of Jimmy Clarkson, the famous car review host and the first of the three guests of Top Gear.
Very close to the town centre. The lack of parking is not really up to the hotel since it’s down to the location, however. I would have liked some sort of parking discount to nearby parking spaces.
Good breakfast with a wide range despite being a “Budget” hotel. I was quite happy to see that.

An easy to find location and close to the town. The reception staff were friendly and the area was spotless. The room was as described. Am not keen on the bathrooms with clear glass you can see into though. The hand soap and shower gel were so lovely, great smell. The room and bathroom were spotless. The towels were huge and fluffy. The bed was rather hard but fine for one night. I was on the second floor and could feel the vibrations of the trams running which was not great. Good for a one night stop but not a longer stay.
The fabric of the building was a little worn and tired. All staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful. Didn’t eat in so can’t comment on that. Great variety of food available in the Wool Market, 3 minutes walk away.
The hotel is conveniently located just outside the city centre. The staff are most professional and helpful, and keen to make one's stay as comfortable as possible. The building itself, however, is old and badly in need of a complete upgrade to bring it up to modern standards. The room was clean but scruffy wit9h chipped paint,, and fixtures and fittings stuck firmly in the 1970s. The bed was acceptable but the sprung mattress bore witness to its antiquity and should be replaced with a modern foam mattress.
Nice and clean big room for a couple. In particular, I found the bedsheets, toilet and carpet nice and clean. Good central location. It was also the first time in my many travels I found a heated towel rail in the shower room/toilet that actually worked, meaning for the days we stayed there our towels stayed dry.
Lots of parking spaces at the front and back of the building at £9 per day. I also quite liked the traditional building style, including stairs inside - definitely different from many cheap modern hotel buildings relying on cheap lifts.
Finally, the receptionists at the reception were all excellent - professional and friendly and very helpful in meeting our needs, such as providing extra tea bags and milk and information on walking around the area.
Happy to recommend and stay there again.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. We were very impressed with the service provided by the friendly & professional staff.
The hotel building is beautiful, stylish and well maintained.
Breakfast was lovely but be warned the breakfast room is quite snug when there is a busy period.
We would definitely recommend a stay here.
My favourite hotel to stay in sheffield. Love the onsite parking, it is expensive to park but feels safe. But I appreciate the room cleanliness and the more modern feel than other Sheffield hotels

When arrived told that we didn’t book even though I had a confirmation email took the receptionist 40 minutes to find a room. Didn’t end up getting the room we booked. The location is good, not far from the train station at all, not too far from restaurant etc.
Our Barnsley Central Premier Inn has everything you'd expect, incredibly comfy beds in every room and an onsite Table Table restaurant for a fresh new twist on eating out. Barnsley Town Centre is only a short distance away.

JJohn SalinskyThe Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as far as they could be. On the first day of our stay ( Christmas Day) there were parties going on and we had to go up several flights of stairs to get to the breakfast buffet. Everything was a little hard to find but the food was good when available. The ample grounds were an additional attraction as were the huge trees in the spacious garden.
On Christmas Day there were lots of staff looking after the various parties. On the last day, however, ther was only one poor unfortunate waiter in attendance! He did his best but it was impossible for him to keep the buffet food items fully refreshed. He had to do this as well as clearing plates etc from tables. We thought that the lack of any other waiting staff was due to the unavailability of staff from the European Union.
The bedroom facilities needed repairs which were unattended to. In particular, the control knob of the central heating radiator had fallen off and could not be replaced. The radiator was on night and day and also made an irritating noise through most of the night.
We stayed three nights in the hotel from 24th to 27th December 2023.
IN summary, we thought that the hotel could be restored to it's original splendour but would need a substantial investment to improve its standard.
The once magnificent hotel seemed sadly neglected because of lack of investment.
Otherwise the room was satisfactory. But sleep was difficult until we got more used to the noise at night.
In summary, we thought that the hotel needed a lot of money spending on it to improve the facilities and make dure there were enough staff.

GGuest UserGood stay really helpful staff inside, nice walk around the campus village, room was clean decent size and basic items, no kettle in the room but we noticed a kitchen on floor 1 so unsure if you can use that if you require longer stays, overall really good and friendly service offered a pastry and coffee in the morning, coffee was basic but you can order a speciality coffee at reception/cafe if you like.
Very affordable
MMengskyI wouldn't consider this a good stay, as I encountered several issues. First, the check-in process was a hassle since this hotel doesn't have a front desk. I spent hours calling the hotel, facing either ”Line busy” or no response after a long wait. If it wasn’t for Trip.com's customer service finally connecting with the hotel, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Second, the wooden door in my room was difficult to close; it required a hard push and made a loud ”bang.” The glass sliding door of the shower room was also problematic, it fell out on my first pull, and I'm certainly not strong enough to break a door with just one pull. Lastly, and most frustratingly, was the toilet paper situation. It was my first time encountering a toilet without a single roll of paper. I can't imagine what I would be if I hadn't brought my own in my bag that day. On a positive note, the room was well-equipped with a fridge, oven, heater, toaster, and even an iron, which suggests the hotel might have been quite good when the things are all good a few years ago, but not now.
LLara FayeNice clean hotel, spacious room, comfortable bed, everything you need. I had an issue with the radiator on the first night as it just wouldn't turn off, this was quickly sorted once I told a member of staff.
On my last night I couldn't get into my room with the keycard, it was already gone midnight so I was tired and just wanted to go to sleep, It took 2 trip's to reception from the top floor before this was resolved which left me quite annoyed.
On my last morning I paid for breakfast, It was a little disappointing, very basic selection on the continental side and the sausages were very poor quality and couldn't eat. There is however a Toby carvery across the road where I had breakfast the day before at a cheaper price, I would recommend going there instead
GGuest UserA pleasant stay in a convenient location. We were able to check in early, due to the very helpful staff. Only one lift was working though and the spa was out of commission.
GGuest UserThe hotel was not easy to find but the staff did assist us promptly. There was an issue up with the accommodation, upon reporting this our accommodation was upgraded immediately. There stay was good. The food was excellent. The only thing I will say is that the cleanliness of some of the rooms, need to be addressed and also the maintence needs to be addressed also.

PPeiThe hotel was clean and well-maintained, with all the basic amenities I needed for a business trip. The location is convenient, close to the city center and transport links. Staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay. Facilities were good, though nothing exceptional. Didn’t try the food, so can’t comment on that.
