Overall, a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. Super excellent price paid on Trip.com. Unfortunately, there were a few things that occurred that spoiled the stay a little bit, but not enough to stop us from staying here again in the future. The one elevator broke down and we had to climb to the 5th floor on a couple of occasions. Reception staff did offer to carry luggage/provide assistance if required. Had to use the stairs to get downstairs when the elevator wasn't working. When we used the stairwell nearest room 524, we were unable to exit to the reception/breakfast area. Had to climb back up stairs to another floor, then walk along corridor to stairs nearest elevator. I requested that a sign be attached to door indicating that no exit to reception....an emergency exit to outdoors only, but this wasn't done, although I was told it would be passed on to the relevant person to action. The elevator was fixed during our stay.
Charging points/plugs stopped working during the night so that devices weren't fully charged in the morning. Reception agreed to alert electrician to check this out. Breakfast was more extensive than previously. Additional cooked items available, making it a great alternative to paying for an English breakfast at a more expensive hotel (although not as extensive as a FULL English). Plenty of cereal, bread, pastries, mini pancakes and drinks. All staff always pleasant and did their best to accommodate an enjoyable stay.
Nice clean hotel. Parking was full but you can use the whalebridge multi story car park a 3 minute walk away, it was free on my visit due to Internet issues I believe so saved another few pounds. Do not use spring gardens muti story next to the hotel, it's not overnight parking I was told by the hotel . 👍
This hotel has got high standards on cleanliness and service consistently. On a bitterly cold weekend the room was warm throughout. In fact very comfortable bed and no need for extra blanket. 2 small issues. The pillows were a bit lumpy but fine and the restarant did not serve evening meals to our liking but overall outstanding !!! Cannot wait to return.
We stayed there to break our journey. All staff members were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also good👍 Our room was very clean too. Such good value for money! Will definitely stay there again.
The best hotel we have been in this trip, lovely buildings, nice reception, and a perfect breakfast, room is big and bed is very soft and comfortable. Very clean and quiet for a nice evening, outside you can see the cathedral, generally, I will choose here again in the future
Such a great team, extremely friendly they have just refurbished the rooms and hotel
The mocktails were amazing
The food is extremely good, I actually invited my local friends down for Dinner and lunch and they were talking about it the next day which is always a good sign. I would definitely stay again the only thing I would say, is the beds/mattress are extremely firm.
But everything else is perfect 👌
Beautiful and lovely surroundings. A lot to choose from for breakfast.
Most of the staff are nice, but there is one guy who is not that nice very rude the way he talks and answering questions.
There is two glass in the bathroom which is fine but if you request for a glass to drink in the room they will still bring you the same kind of glasses to you. I think they should have different shapes of glass for different purposes.
Also some of their tea cups are too big and is not classy at all.
Excellent. Location to m4 is great for working on the road or for leisure purposes. Very clean and exceptionally efficient with turn around. Check in quick. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast options for room service are one of the best I've had, better than some 4/5 stars! IHG are setting the standard for value, service and overall performance very high and my go to hotel group at the moment. IHG being Holiday Inn, Hilton and Roko to name a few.
Entering through the gate, it is an open-air coffee shop surrounded by green plants covering the walls. In the warm afternoon, it is very pleasant to chat and drink coffee with friends in twos and threes. Entering from the door on the right hand side is the front desk of the hotel. The stairs are relatively narrow, and the hotel rooms are relatively large and clean. The breakfast is a traditional English breakfast.

SSeetanahNatashaMy family and I stayed in 2 rooms which inc a dinner package.
We had a very warm lovely welcome by the receptionist who was extremely helpful.
Our room was not as clean as we would have expected which was a shame but it was nice to have a room with 2 double beds. The handle on one of the bathroom doors was faulty so we had to leave it open when using the bathroom.
We had booked the dinner package and booked our table in advance for 7pm. I understand that they were quite busy that evening but unfortunately we still didn't get our food order taken until 8pm. The kids got their meals soon after but the adult main meals didn't arrive until 9pm. It was a long time for us to wait when our children were getting restless and tired. We also by that point felt it was too late to eat and didn't finish our meals. We did speak to the manager and eventually they did compensate for the long wait so we appreciated that.
Breakfast was brilliant lots of choice and good timings for breakfast.
The swimming area needs a bit of a refurb. Even though there is lots of space it just needs a bit of TLC and a refresh.
Other than the few items mentioned we still had a lovely stay with family
The receptionists were exceptional and every understanding. They even spoke to us the following day to apologise about the issue with the dinner.
We wouldn't let it stop us from staying there again.

GGuest UserOur stay at this hotel left us feeling a bit underwhelmed. While I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid it entirely, I can't recommend it or see myself returning.
The room, advertised as having a king-size bed, disappointingly turned out to be a double. Despite the hotel's emphasis on green choices, the room was unbearably warm upon arrival. We had to open both the windows and the door just to cool it down. This lack of basic comfort seemed counterintuitive to their eco-conscious branding.
Furthermore, small but crucial amenities were absent, such as a hairdryer, and some lights weren't working. The absence of an in-room phone meant there was no easy way to request these missing items, adding to the overall inconvenience.
The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The so-called buffet consisted of a small, albeit pleasant, continental breakfast. However, being asked immediately upon arrival if we'd like to pay an additional £10 for a cooked breakfast made the setup feel misleading. At £14.50, the continental breakfast alone did not feel like good value.
The restaurant also had a notice about a £2.50 charge for menu amendments. While I understand the principle of upcharges, this particular policy felt excessive and off-putting.
These issues were compounded by a lack of personal touches that form the foundation of good customer service. No one asked at checkout or during breakfast how our stay had been, a small but impactful gesture that could have mitigated some of our disappointments.
In hindsight, I feel I overpaid by about 20-30% compared to the value I received. Knowing what I do now, I likely wouldn't have chosen this hotel for our stay.

GGuest UserThis hotel is very pleasant, I like the hotel environment, it is really beautiful, the front desk service is also warm, the breakfast is rich, the bed is very comfortable, all of which makes us feel very good.
88285SueHI stay at The Angel three or four times annually and have done so now for a number of years.
The location is excellent for me to visit family who live nearby. Parking at Sainsbury’s (through the gate at the rear of the courtyard) is convenient, or there is some on-road parking at the front of the property. Rooms are well appointed and always very clean.
On this latest visit I had to request a room change since the door to my room was extremely difficult to unlock and then could not be closed properly from the inside. As a lone female traveller, safety and security is paramount. Unfortunately, as I experienced similar problems on my previous visit a few months ago, it appears that this may be an ongoing issue ( perhaps weather-related) that now needs to be addressed with some urgency.
GGuest UserLovely hotel, polite and friendly staff, ample parking, excellent location in the heart of town. Only negative is the stains on the bathroom walls that could easily be removed with a little more attention to detail and the cold tap hardly let out any water. Unfortunately there wasn't any real ale available whilst we were there thus stopping us from enjoying that facility.
EEvelynI had an amazing stay at the Hilton! Upon arrival, the reception staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were even greeted with a delicious chocolate cookie, which was a lovely touch. Our room was spacious, incredibly comfortable, and exceptionally clean. We couldn’t be happier with our stay, and we will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!
