Splendid lobby on 13/F with best view in the town, convenient parking facility connecting to the hotel at a reasonable price ¥1,100 overnight, close to shops and train station, buffet breakfast with quality.
Just need to ask for coffee set at reception, not provided in room and only have chopsticks in restaurant.
The environment is elegant, and I really liked the Western and Japanese style rooms. The spa was also very comfortable 😌...
Breakfast is too early, 7:30 and 8:00 – I'm still half asleep! This is a vacation, not going to work. Can't the time be pushed back a bit?
We booked dinner, but we arrived late at 7:50 PM, and dinner was gone. We had called them at 7:10 PM to let them know we were stuck in traffic, but the hotel said dinner was gone and wouldn't refund us 😏.
While the building itself is a bit old, both the rooms and bathrooms were clean. Dinner and breakfast were served buffet-style, and for the price, it felt like excellent value for money. Being able to choose our own yukata was a delightful touch. It's about a 10-minute walk to the station, but a paid shuttle service is also available. They also offer amenities like a manga corner, karaoke, and table tennis. There's an on-site souvenir shop, and we enjoyed a 10% discount in the evening, making our purchases very affordable. I would definitely stay here again if I get the chance.
This is top-notch here.
I go there every day.
The breakfast has a ton of vegetables.
I highly recommend the curry rice with some scrambled eggs; it's super delicious.
The women's bath doesn't have a sauna.
There are many restaurants in Utsunomiya city, so it was fun at night and we went bar-hopping a lot. We were able to return to the hotel quickly and there was a convenience store nearby, so it was convenient. We stayed on the 12th floor, which felt luxurious. The card key and the nightgown on the hanger were nice, but the air conditioning was old and the vents were dirty, which made my throat hurt. The shower had weak water pressure, but the bathroom was spacious and that was fine. Are there many hotels these days that don't provide lotion-type amenities? Breakfast was expensive, so I went to a nearby bakery to buy some.
The service was impeccable, with the young waiters always smiling. During my seven-day trip to Japan, this was the only place where I experienced the kind of Japanese service I've been seeing online. The room was spacious, and the food and hot springs were excellent. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a hot spring inn in a secluded area like Kawaji Yumoto. The only downside was that the furniture was a bit dated. The filter on the kettle's outlet was rusty and yellowed. I hope it's replaced soon, as it's not a very expensive item.
Breakfast was better than dinner, but both were good. The onsen was good and clean, but I wish they provided towels at the onsen area and not having to bring our own. There were no face towels in the room. The room was old. The floor creaks. But the room was very clean. I did not smell smoke anywhere in the hotel, but it was a bit humid. The staff spoke English well. BONUS: In the game room, there is the old Pole Position car racing game and it works perfectly. Memories of my childhood. I loved this game.
The hotel price was excellent for the value.it is beside a beautiful long pedestrian bridge.
It was immaculately clean. The service was also very polite and attentive, which I truly appreciated. We had both dinner and breakfast, and the food was delicious, making for a perfectly satisfying trip.
Check in was quick and easy. The room was nice and comfortable. The location is 1 block from the station. Best of all was the breakfast. Amazing selection of both western and Japanese food. It was delicious!!! I will definitely book here again.
The town seems to be a ghost town, and the ghosts can't be seen during the day. But this hotel is great, there is no bad service, dinner is also absolutely, thank you very much for the Chinese girl in the restaurant, and the front desk brother who can't speak English. Although I didn't see the scenery here in the early winter, I didn't regret coming!

GGuest UserThe exterior of the hotel is pretty, but the interior of the hotel is dated and needs a bit of updating. There were parts of the hotel that were completely shut down (maybe there are saving up enough money to one day renovate). However the facilities and rooms are well maintained and the onsens are beautiful and peaceful. There are 2 main onsens, that are separated by men and women. Each day the onsens are switched, in the morning you will go to one, and in the evening before dinner you can experience the other onsen. Onsite there is a really nice restaurant and gift shop that featured local products at reasonable prices. There is a 24 hour coffee/tea station that is free to use. It's a short 10 minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. When you arrive they provide you a yukata to wear while you are staying at the hotel. The rooms are spacious with options for a western bed or japanese style (sleeping on the floor). We opted for the western bed to be higher off the ground as we thought it would be colder to sleep on the ground. Although the rooms are very well heated and was a bit too warm, that we needed to open the window to cool the room down. The rooms have nice views of the countryside. They provide a pitcher of ice water in the room and you can go to the front desk to refill with ice if more is needed. The bathroom is quite large and has both a shower and toilet in a separate room of the bathroom; although we mostly bathed in the onsen. There is a 7-eleven nearby that was open 24 hours, but otherwise there isn't much else around the hotel. Also the town of Kinugawa Onsen closes quite early, around 8pm it's quite deserted. We were there at the end of November 2024, and it seemed that the hotel was mostly unoccupied, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was a very nice one night stay.
GGuest UserWe loved the breakfast. Simple and nice. The lounge is also interesting with free flow of drinks and popsicles during evening time. The hotel is situated on a quiet street so be sure to pack your own snacks as there is no convenience store nearby. Room is spacious for family of 4.
GGuest UserI don’t understand why someone would leave a negative review due to their own negligence. Trip.com clearly mentioned the additional 300-yen tax (I assume this is the onsen tax) per person, yet they still claimed they were “scammed.”
My overall experience at Hotel Euro City was wonderful. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and the shuttle bus service was amazing. If you want to get to the hotel easily, check the shuttle schedule on the hotel’s homepage so you don’t have to walk from the station. They run it every day at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15, and 18:15 from “Nikko Station Hotel Classic,” right next to JR Nikko Station.
The room was spacious and comfortable, and the onsen in the backyard was great. It’s true that the room had a mild smell, but I assume it was due to recent pest control (it smelled like pesticide). Just open the windows for a while and it goes away.
Breakfast was okay—not as fancy as in the advertisements, maybe because it wasn’t peak season. Overall, I think this is a very good choice, especially if you’re traveling with family.
GGuest UserThe location is really good. 10 mins away from the station. Easy to find. Big hotel, about 11 floors. The room is quite spacious, part in western style with beds and part in japaneese with tatamis. There is sink in themiddle of the room, quite comfy. Good view to the mountain and forest from the window, 9th floor. Nice yukata to wear, i liked the outerpart. Breakfast and dinner is buffet, quite big choice, free beer for dinner, not so many fruits, no cakes for breakfast (dinner only). There is sushi and sashimi choice, delicious food. Onsen is quite good, clean, big. Will recommend to stay here
SShirley Fong 8Nikko Station hotel Classic located at a strategic location:-👍

(6) Hotel is conveniently located along a long stretch of shopping streets with another Railway station ( Tohoku station 🚉) nearby.

小小八哥Hotel location except for driving passengers, it is not convenient to take the bus. The type of room booked is only a smoking room, and the room has a strong smell of smoke and is uncomfortable. The food supply is very good and there are surprises. The hot spring baths are good. This hotel really wants to improve the quality of hygiene, the carpets are dark, and the room should be changed to not smoke. But the price is very high, especially the discount of Trip.com
GGuest UserI want to thank hosts of Akari no yado personally. The hosts were nice and worked really hard to feel ourselves at home. The place was clean and the common room was big and comfortable. Bathroom was old fashioned but if you want modern bathrooms you were able to use the bath house for showers and toilets in the common area. Breakfast is made of pastries and all I had was pretty delicious. You can also have marmalade and margarine with breakfast pastries and there are drinks (tea/coffee/milk/juice) to choose from. We checked out early and hosts prepared our breakfast to go even if it wasn’t breakfast time yet. They even drove us to the station when we asked if they would be able to call us a taxi!
Bath house was spacious with two different baths. System is easy and we were able to use it whenever we wanted (between 16.00-23.00 of course). They are giving free rental yukatas and they were so comfy. They also have guides everywhere to help you (our room even had a guide on how to prepare a futon bed!) the place felt like we were part of a family and that was the most amazing part for me. I even got teary eyed when it was time to go. Thank you Akari no yado! Hope to see you soon again!
AAnonymous UserThis was my first time staying at a Hoshino Hotel in the Kai series, and I was very satisfied. The ”Kai” hotel in Nikko, especially the cable car, is definitely worth the experience. The hotel is very close to the station, seemingly nestled in the mountains, but it's actually just a short walk from the hot spring town. It's bustling yet secluded.
The decor is a distinctly Japanese style, combining minimalism with a wabi-sabi vibe. I personally love it. Those who enjoy this series will appreciate it, but those who prefer extravagant and elaborate décor wouldn't recommend it; they'll be disappointed.
The hotel also offers free coffee and tea, as well as unlimited juice and ice cream, so children will have more fun than adults. The hot springs are incredibly beautiful. During cherry blossom season, the hot springs are right outside, and during autumn foliage season, the mountain courtyard is filled with vibrant colors.
Overall, the hotel isn't large, resembling a small resort, but it's packed with details, views, and activities. There are free evening performances, the kaiseki dinner is exquisite, and the Japanese breakfast is also very delicious. A hotel worth experiencing: upscale yet not intimidating, the service is very pleasant.
In addition, there are a lot of fun theme parks and attractions nearby in just five minutes’ drive. This is also the reason for the recommendation.
