Kandima Hotel is a comprehensive resort hotel with different room types, from beach villas to overwater villas. The snorkeling, deep diving and various recreational activities at sea are very exciting.
I was very pleased with the room. I was also very pleased with the island, having chosen one with fewer people. The food was also good. The service was also quite good. However, I gave it the lowest rating for service, and it wasn't specifically because of the staff! They were all very nice.
Here's why. Before booking, my wife saw a video of the sunset view from your villa and was deeply impressed. She desperately wanted to experience it for herself, so she insisted on choosing your hotel for our vacation. To accommodate her wishes, I specifically booked a Deluxe Water Pool Villa for four consecutive nights, rather than the ”two nights in a sand villa and two nights in a water villa” combination that many guests choose. This decision was made solely to increase the chances of getting a sunset-facing room. We've also stayed at other Maldivian islands that clearly distinguish between sunrise and sunset rooms, making the choice clear and the price difference relatively close. Therefore, since your hotel doesn't have this type of room category or option, we've specifically emailed to request it. We hope you will understand and accommodate this. After booking, I sent three emails, each one sincerely requesting a sunset-facing villa, clearly stating that this was our only and most important request. I also stated in my emails that if four consecutive nights weren't possible, even a change of rooms midway through, and only two nights in a sunset-facing room would be acceptable. Your response consistently stated, ”We'll do our best to accommodate your request.” For the reasons I mentioned above, I assumed it was at least an internal coordination issue. To avoid causing any inconvenience for the hotel, I sent my emails ten days in advance. I assumed this modest request would be accommodated. However, throughout our entire communication process, no one informed us that a sunset-facing room required an additional fee to confirm. It wasn't until we arrived that the hotel staff first informed us that other guests had already secured a sunset-facing room by paying an additional fee. If this information had been made clear during our reservation or email correspondence, we would have been fully willing to pay the required fee to ensure this sole request was fulfilled. However, during our stay, we weren't even offered a sunset-facing villa for a single night. Initially, we were disappointed, but not furious. After all, we understood the limited room options on the island and were willing to sympathize with the hotel's difficulties in arranging them. But what was truly unacceptable was that during our last two days, while chatting with several guests, we learned that they hadn't requested any room type preferences, yet had been assigned sunset-facing rooms at a lower price than ours. Furthermore, we had repeatedly requested a single night, yet we weren't even offered one. This contrast left us feeling not only disappointed but also deeply neglected. This prompted me to raise some serious questions: 1. If sunset rooms can be reserved for an additional fee, why didn't the hotel proactively inform us after we explicitly asked three times? 2. If it's not possible to pay extra, why were others offered them without even asking? 3. If everything was just a matter of luck, then what was the point of my three sincere communications? We paid a higher price, expressed our single preference upfront, and yet were completely ignored. Seeing others easily secure their accommodations while our repeated requests yielded no results was more than just a failure to meet expectations; it felt like a perfunctory and indifferent experience. We are not picky guests. On the contrary, we had full trust in your hotel, which is why we repeatedly proactively communicated and sincerely expressed our requests. We only hope that in the future, your hotel will be more forthright, transparent, and responsible in addressing customer requests. Especially when faced with such a unique and reasonable request, you can clearly provide real options, rather than a vague ”we'll do our best to accommodate.” I will copy the hotel's official service review. I hope the hotel will respond positively to this matter. Even if it is impossible to remedy the regret now, you should provide a convincing explanation.
Nice view and location if you stay at sunset pool water banglow. Spacious, room was very clean eventhough pool needs more cleaning and aircond servicing (water dripping). Some staff are friendly and helpful, thanks to Firdaus for keeping the room clean and restaurant staff Sagar, Azizah and Chaminda. Some staff were racist toward non-white with double standard services. Our host, he tried his best which requires improvement. Activities booking were a hassle for us due to booking pax limit eventhough resort was 98% occupied (?). Resort is not Muslims friendly, served pork and alcohol openly at restaurant. Not mobility friendly resort, be prepared to walk everywhere, 200-300m one way to restaurants, 300-500m one way to water activities centre, bar and reception. No buggy service (but you can repeatedly call for favor from your host and receptionist everyday and be prepared to wait around 15min- 1 hr) and no bicycle. Ongoing tug and war with host and reception in resolving guests' needs and issues. Receptionist/main reservation need to improve and provide clear communication instead of repeating same reply contents
The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms and everything. The only problem is that it is far from Male airport. This resulted in a very late arrival at the island on the first day (6pm). We left very early on the last day (1pm) and had only 10 minutes for lunch on the last day because we had to wait for the seaplane in advance. Also, the seaplane is very expensive.
The resort is new and beautiful located on its own private Island. It is unfortunate that you need to fly into Male, take a second flight and then a boat to the resort. You can only book the flight and boat through the resort and not directly from the airline so there is a premium price to pay. The ”lounge” at Male airport is the public area of the food court where you can select one option from a limited menu most of which you are told they do not have any of. The resort itself is very beautiful offering a 24hr bar and snack service as well as a buffet restaurant and two additional restaurants (Italian and Steakhouse) for which you need to make a reservation. During our 8 nights, we tried daily to make a reservation at the steak restaurant which does not have fixed opening days and depends on guest occupancy so sadly we were not able to enjoy this experience as many other guests who also experienced the same. We were able to make a reservation at the Italian restaurant once during our stay which meant we had no choice but to eat at the buffet restaurant where the dishes did not change much on a daily basis for the duration, it got old by the end of our trip and we couldn't wait to get to the mainland for some other types of food. The staff is all very nice and friendly and there are daily activities organized by them or many areas of beach for peace and quiet as well as a swimming pool with a swim-up bar and plenty of loungers. Overall it was a good experience it's just a shame there is not more choices or chances to try the other restaurants and food.
1. Slightly far from Male airport, the cost of going to the island is more expensive. The inland plane on the return journey speeds up the boat, and the seaplane on the return journey should allow sufficient time. The return seaplane also went to two other resorts to pick up. People, from the departure time to Male airport 1 hour 45 minutes.
2. Breakfast at the hotel is ok. Epicure is more suitable for Chinese tastes than blue. Breakfast buffet with drinks, dinner buffet drinks a la carte.
3. The hotel's children's club is good, the venue is large, the staff is enthusiastic, and the children are happy.
4. The hotel's subsea restaurant can be experienced. There are three packages for adults. We ordered two packages with drinks and one children's package for a total of $ 455.
5. I brought two children and booked a sand house and a water house for 5 nights. The hotel prepared two small beds in both rooms.
The feeling of vacation is generally okay. Tips are recommended, don't give too little. Tips of $ 1 are not available now, it is better not to give them. (Franklin on a hundred dollar bill said: Too much tip is like a big fool, and too little tip is a big fool.)

YYANFANGThe environment can give 5 stars (after all, it’s a sack)
The quality of service needs to be improved. The staff is very polite. They can speak Chinese. Thank you, hello... I could provide 5-star service, but when I left the island, I got the travel time wrong. The original reservation email It was explained that I was leaving by plane at 12:35, but the hotel staff arranged for me to leave until 13:45 in the afternoon by boat. As a result, when I went to the island airport, I couldn’t find my flight information at all (in fact, it was already the night before leaving the island. I checked with the front desk for confirmation, but the front desk clerk insisted that my appearance time was in the afternoon, saying that the time of the email would be changed), and at the same time, I couldn’t get on the 17:05 plane to leave Male’ and could only change to other flights. Hotel service is really not flattering [anger]
The room booked is claimed to be 5 stars, but I can’t feel it. In fact, it’s not much different from the 4 stars next to it. [Pick nose]
All-inclusive price, the food is relatively average, it can only be said to fill the stomach, there are few choices and the quality is average

XXiaomaicaoBecause I was considering eating and drinking on the island after I hit the road, I chose this high-end Italian brand. Sure enough, the Italian food lived up to expectations. The Italian bread at the buffet was delicious, and the ham, cheese, and pizza were all very good. The decoration style of this hotel is more Mediterranean style. The bathroom has a semi-open roof and good lighting. Don't worry, both the shower room and toilet have roofs.
There are three restaurants in total, buffet, Italian restaurant (on the second floor of the swimming pool), and Japanese restaurant. Japanese food will be disappointing for Shanghai tourists. The sushi rice is like ice cubes, and the sashimi is just local tuna and salmon, with very few varieties. The Russians are said to be very happy.
The advantage is that you can snorkel just outside the beach house, so you don’t have to spend money to go elsewhere. The disadvantage is that all the waiters, regardless of their yellow skin, speak English, and their service to Asians is obviously cold. On the contrary, the local waiters are very serious and run around before and after.
It is customary to tip here, and no one will force you if you don't. I saw many foreigners tipping for breakfast. Bring $1-5 for this and just do as the Romans do.
This hotel has an agreement with the seaplane company and requires flying to the island. There is a mandatory fee of US$480 per person. This should be taken into account within the budget.
