The air condition size is too small for the area of the room. It is quite hot especially during day time. There is no coffee, tea or electric kettle provided. There is no elevator. Quite disappointed.

The accommodation is comfortable and easy to travel. The hotel is located on the main road of the province. There is breakfast, a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a lot of parking. Anyone who comes to this province is recommended to stay here. The service is very good. There is also an electric train with charging points.

The hotel is located near the bus station and a large Lotus store. The rooms are large, good water pressure. There is also a 24-hour 7-eleven near the hotel.
Cons: no kettle and cups provided, no hand soap provided.
The Internet has a complicated connection system. Logins, passwords, etc. The reception charges a deposit of 300 baht in cash for the key. They must be prepared in advance.
I stayed at Avada Hotel Trat, and for a 3-star hotel, it was really good. The room was clean, modern, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly and helpful, making check-in and check-out easy. The location was convenient, and the atmosphere was quiet, which was nice for relaxing. Wi-Fi worked well, and the breakfast was decent. Overall, a great value for the price—I’d definitely stay again.

before crossing to Koh Kham We went to stay at this resort with a shady atmosphere along the Bang Phra Canal. Big rooms, wooden floors, all wood furniture. Gives a warm atmosphere like an old Thai house. Excellent cleanliness The owner welcomes him in a friendly manner. Not far from the market by foot. Recommend it, relax and chill in Trat city.
The service was very good. We arrived late, but the owner still provided good service. The swimming pool was very relaxing. We had a very comfortable experience. I will book this hotel again on my next trip.
Great hotel, beautiful beaches, amazing and friendly staff… rooms are very comfortable, and quite large…
It’s a very secluded location, not much else to do but relax.

Great location, but Trat is not really an amazing attraction so... Clean but a bit pricey considering there's almost nothing to do in Trat. The reception is non existent and the staff couldn't communicate very well in English, although they were friendly. Bed is comfortable and bathrooms are clean. Don't let yourself fooled by the room names (garden view, village view). They don't have a garden. Overall not a bad choice if you're staying in Trat.

When you book room it only says it’s “Hillside. What it doesn’t say is that it’s across the busy (main) road.
So in this case you no longer book room in tje hotel located at the beach.
Tie “hillside” complex was completely unattended. No pool bar, nobody at the “reception” despite 100% occupancy and middle of high season.
Location across the road made it unable for our early teens to reach room “for something” while we were on the beach. Every time somebody had to escort them.
The extra paid “pool view” from our room was also completely dissatisfying.
Once we complained about location of room during check in, after Front Office Manager checked source or our booking (Trip.com), she immediately rejected any complain saying that location of the room should be made clear by agent (it’s nowhere in the description when we booked the room).
Beware booking room in this property - it is split in two separate complexes.

GGuest UserStarting with the positives, Tolani resort has really friendly staff who bent over backwards to make your stay pleasant. It also has beautiful rooms our bungalow was clean and comfortable with good aircon and a very comfortable bed. It gave a feeling of luxury though the water pressure in the shower was really bad. It’s outside of the rooms that this resort falls flat.
Tolani is positioning itself as a luxury resort and with a high price point to match but for the money it doesn’t deliver. The resort is supposedly on the beach but in reality the beach is not easily accessible from the resort. You can climb over rocks and swim over to the beach but it’s not easy. This means you will not have any sun loungers on the beach which can be an issue as the pool area is very small with only a handful of beds there. It’s also what you want from a beach front resort.
The food at the resort including breakfast is very poor but very expensive. Thankfully there are great restaurants nearby but we didn’t have a single good meal here. Drinks and food are massively overpriced for the island too.
We also had a poor experience at checkout. We had given our scooter back to the hire place but needed to head to the shops and so my wife asked if it was possible to get a taxi. A kind member of staff offered to run her up the road quickly in their car which we assumed was just a kind gesture. On checkout they charged us 15 euros for this trip. That’s an outrageous price for a 5 minute ride down the road but it also wasn’t communicated to us that we would be charged at the time as we wouldn’t have agreed. When we challenged this they told us we had to pay. It left a really bad taste in the mouth and it showcased this place is mainly looking to make money off its guests and not about creating a good experience.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here because there are better resorts for the price point and the food and facilities are both sorely lacking. The lovely staff are not enough to save the price gouging happening here.
BBrianna PierreCame here with a friend for a Christmas holiday and it was great. The guest manager was a delight and he was very personable, helping with breakfast and conversing with guests about places he loved on the island and life in general. He seems to actually love his job which is refreshing. The rooms were delightful and clean and the bath tub was so soothing as was the view. But note that the resort is at the top of the island so if you want to go to beaches like bang bao bay or lonely island you’ll have to hire a car or taxi. Luckily the resort helped us with that. A staffer named Q even helped my friend find a spot for a late night snack. Overall our stay was great. I would suggest adding a vending machine to the resort for snacks when the kitchen is closed as well as maybe having an additional shuttle available for beaches farther away to allow for guests to sign up to pay a travel fee that they could split evenly. (For example, Mondays is lonely island, Tuesdays you may go to bang bao bay etc). Other than that everything was easy and well accommodated. Would definitely stay here again.
PPierre le FauconA hidden resort located in klong prao area that provides good tranquility, surprisingly found the real room is looks better than those displayed photos. The room is spacious, bright in excellent condition of cleaniness, housekeeper did great job as always. It's not a new premises so some furnitures were aging but they wouldn't spoil your stay. We stayed at room with plunge pool unfortunately couldn't enjoy it in the consecutive rainly days. Even unable to ride the kayak or watch the fireflies in the evening. Perhaps should back in winter seasons to avoid of wet. The gardening is absolutely greenly beauty, a truly resort for hideaway. The hotel is next to the river without beachfront need a free shuttle to there. Overall I have extended my stay for a relaxing break, also massive thanks to all staff as they were so attentive and friendly.
GGuest UserWe have spent 6 nights in Santhiya Tree Koh Chang, even though it's rainy season, we still LOVE it there!
Design: we stay at the Pool Suite Water View, almost whole building made by carved wood, traditional Thai design and lots of character, looks very beautiful & classic.
Staffs: very friendly and excellent service
Pools: 60m long pool at the breakfast restaurant with some seats facing the pool & peaceful mountain view. Another pool right in front of the beach & close to the villas. Both pools clean & big. Santhiya Tree use pa kao ma thai sarong as beach towel, love it!
Food: delicious buffet breakfast & lots of variety. Food & drinks at the Chantara Restaurant is high quality & very yummy. The duo who sings at the restaurant are brilliant singers, you won't get bored with their performance.
Room: spacious & clean, lots of electric plugs & even beach bag for use. They burn lemongrass/ citronella oil in the bathroom to keep mozzies away & room smells good.
Massage at their spa: very good & reasonable price, sound of the waves makes the massage so relaxing, must try.
Shuttle bus to main street: every 2 hrs they can drop you or pick up from main street as there resort is not at the road side. Not sure if it's because of low season, hope the shuttle service can be more frequent.
Thank you everybody at Santhiya Tree Koh Chang for the great service and smiles. Will definitely come back for another holiday and highly recommend if you're looking for a fantastic place to stay! This beautiful place takes your stress away :)
P.S. there's a small part of the road right outside the resort leading to the entrance is unsealed with lots of potholes, pretty bumpy for cars and their shuttle bus, suggest Santhiya Tree do something with it.
AAlinaPros of the hotel:
Beautiful beach, clear sea, magnificent sunsets, nice bar with delicious cocktails during happy hour for 160 baht, beautiful pier for photos
On the territory you can rent a bike without deposits, etc.
They accept card payments (+3% to the bill)
Cons of the hotel:
Tired, ugly bungalows
Broken furniture
Torn, gray towels and bed linen
Untasteful and expensive restaurant
Breakfast is not very good, you will not go hungry, but you will not get pleasure either. And you need to come early, once we came at 9.30, some dishes were already gone and were not replenished
Ugly territory of the hotel
GGuest UserWe stayed in the hilltop rooms which were the worst on the resort. You had to walk up uneven and badly kept steps to get down to the rest of the resort. They were difficult to walk on with wet flip flops The water in the shower also had low water pressure. The beach and sea view villas looked amazing though, so try to book them if you can. The pool overlooked the sea which was a delight and the beach although small was cleaned regularly and you could always get a sunbed. Plenty of shade too.The breakfast was average and they supplied sandwiches between 3-5pm which was a nice touch. The food in the evening was below average as well as the cocktails. They wanted to close early so the restaurant was closed by 8.30 and the doors were shut. Service was Ok but we have had much better in previous hotels we have stayed in on this holiday. This wasn’t a problem for us because taxis were cheap and we go into town where there were enough restaurants to choose from. Try out the Art Studio Bar at the top of the hill.
JJason2023I booked last minute so availability in Koh Chang was limited. Duckling was one of the highest reviewed accommodation.
Pros
Close to the main shops, restaurants etc, 10-15 minute walk to nice beach
Staff are very good
Bike rental is cheap, no deposit, trustworthy - you definitely don't need to hire anywhere else
Rooms are spacious
Water provided upon request
Bar has games, cold drinks, nice atmosphere
Cons
No safe in the room
Massive ant problem
Room only cleaned when requested
JCB digger was view but then some rooms don't have windows....
Its dry season, the river is just rocks and pipes
This place is good value. If you don't want a resort with a pool on the beach, you want good value accommodation with friendly staff who treat you like a friend rather than a customer and close to the main road
This is 2* place that could do with some changes (like having the shower gel, shampoo combo near the actual shower, not the door) but overall i was happy with the stay.
If i went back i would spend maybe 4 nights on Koh Chang, 1 at Kai Bae, 1 at Klong Kloi and 2 at White Sand. Lonely beach is a 1 hour visit.
If you book the return bus from Ekkami to Koh Chang ferry, it picks you up at the same place it drops you off (at the ferry - 80 baht to cross, mini van to Kai Bae 100 baht). There is not much at the ferry point so don't plan to stay there too long.
Returning back there i took a Songthaew from the main road (has a yellow sign in the window saying 'Pier'). Then crossing, took around 1hr 15mins. 100 baht for Songthaew.
GGuest UserA relatively remote hotel. The facilities and environment are clean and comfortable. The restaurant opening hours are too short. From 8 am to 6 pm, it is inconvenient that there is no restaurant nearby.

Amazing hotel - would highly recommend staying here.
We stayed at serenity resort for 2 nights on arriving at Koh Chang from Bangkok. The location is so so idyllic and relaxing, absolutely beautiful. We also stayed on the west side of the island for a couple of nights and while it is quieter on the east side of the island (ie, there is no point in leaving the resort in the evening as there is nothing really to do on the east side after dark) this is exactly what we were after.
The staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Food and drinks at the restaurant were great and reasonably priced. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Lovely view.
As other reviews have said, if you are staying here you will likely want your own transport so you can explore. We rented a moped from the resort at a very reasonable price. If you want to rent a car make sure you have an intl driving permit (takes a few mins to obtain but must do whilst in the UK). There’s barely any traffic on this side of the island so the drive down to long beach at the south of the island felt very safe on a moped despite the hills (and would be the same in a car). The resort staff recommended us to do this and then get kayaks over to Koh ngam, which we did and was a great experience!
The other option is to rent a taxi for a day (we were quoted c2500 baht for 6 hours) and they can drop you wherever you like and wait for you.
Thanks again for a lovely stay at serenity resort!!
JJ_KGHWe loved this hotel and after travelling around and speaking to others I definitely think this is one of the best resorts on the island.
Pros:
+ The staff! They are so lovely and made our stay more enjoyable.
+ The rooms are great with a small balcony.
+ The pool area! We loved dipping in and out of the pool, and the Jacuzzi!
+ Food was nice
+ you can hire bikes (mopeds) from the hotel
+ price
+ The grounds are beautiful
+ The hotel will help with Taxis etc
Cons:
- The nearest 7-11 etc is over 20 mins walk
- There were lots of ants round the pool area … we found out there was an infestation this year (not just on this island). It would be great if staff could go around spraying the area. I am not sure if they did.
We are regularly at a small independently owned place called Sapporat’s, owned by Deano and his wife ***. You do have to wait a while for your food (because *** is the only one cooking) but it’s so worth it! Great home cooked food and a lovely atmosphere looking over the river. It’s only a 5 minute walk away from the hotel.
We were also recommend a cooking class by Deano and his wife … with Bonnie. It was amazing. We started at 9:30am and didn’t finish until 2pm. You eat at the class and can even take your curry back with you. You also can choose from a selection of dishes, you don’t have to make the same as everyone else!
