The Day I Made it to Shirakawago!

Acclaimed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, the villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama boast of archetypal and unique houses called "Gassho-zukuri". Considered as rare in its architectural features and styles, Gassho-zukuris were made of purely natural resources, with no nails or any other metallic materials at all! The steepness of their roofs were deliberately designed in such a way that resembles a "Gassho" which means joining two hands together 🙏 in prayer. Photos of any kind could never justify its beauty in real-life. Undeniably, Shirakawa-go is totally a stunning place that’s rich with cultural gems and history. Definitely worth going back to, and next time, maybe during spring or autumn.
