Ten-yu at Hakone Kowakien is a luxurious escape nestled in nature. The private onsen in every room, featuring Shigaraki-yaki bathtubs, is pure bliss. The infinity onsen on the 6th floor offers breathtaking views, especially at sunset. We loved the teppanyaki dinner at the historic Guest House, a true culinary experience. The serene valley garden is perfect for a relaxing stroll. The staff was attentive and the overall atmosphere was incredibly tranquil. Highly recommend for a rejuvenating getaway! Don't miss the delicious sashimi and crab for breakfast!

This is my second visit, what I would say is I was really lucky last time that I booked random classic room via trip.com and I was assigned the minamimirai city+harbour view 2single bed room (which is the most exp one in non suite guest room) , this time I booked for the same view but a double bed and the room is smaller. The room is still so perfect for chill vacation. Nice walk to park or JR station in early winter, convenience shop nearby , everything is fine. Do book for Spa some weeks earlier, I just missed it this time. Hope to return in near future.

Huge room, comfortable. Nice view from the hotel windows. Comfortable bed, complete amenities (like all of the japan hotels!) The public onsen alternates everyday for male/female, but the instruction is ultra-clear. I did twice a day for the onsen!

I've had the pleasure of staying at several high-end hotels, including the Hakone Gora Byakudan. Without a doubt, Byakudan surpasses its competitors in every aspect. The service, facilities, and genuine care for guests are exceptional. I only wish I could have extended my stay. The room was flawlessly clean, and the bed provided a truly restful night's sleep. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, readily available to assist with any needs. The hotel's location is convenient, offering easy access to local attractions. Additionally, the complimentary car service to nearby destinations such as art museums and the cable station was a thoughtful touch. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were beyond delicious, featuring a diverse array of options. The snacks and wine bar were equally impressive. I particularly enjoyed the massage chair and the delightful ice-cream selection. I wholeheartedly recommend the Hakone Gora Byakudan to anyone visiting the area

This hotel is a small family-style hot spring hotel, which may not be too popular, so the price is very high. The location is on the edge of the famous Xiaoyong Garden, and it is very close to the hot spring park, VIP building and Yingbin building. The courtyard is exquisite, the environment is clean, the grandfather at the front desk is meticulous in working attitude, and the room is exactly the same as the picture. The only disadvantages are: first, the breakfast is too rude, and second, the private soup is a small closed indoor pool, meaningless, just go to the public. The public hot spring is outside. The day I went there was a heavy rain in Hakone. A hot spring, very romantic.

The room was spacious. I feel that it is a very significant thing to say considering that the standard room size in Japanese cities are a lot smaller (or even half the size of the room at this hotel). The location is extremely convenient coming off a shinkanzen but I wish that the hotel description can be more specific about how to find it. Google Maps are not clear enough (It said - take exit 10 to the hotel. There is no exit 10.) For other travelers, the hotel is accessed by elevator inside the Shin-yokohama station entrance. Take that elevator to the 10th floor.

I paid more as I booked less than two months ahead for one night without free cancellation, probably the night was within peak season. Everything is good but the double-bed room assigned was small. Bed is small for two adults. No chair but only a small desk was provided.. Shower and toilet are good in size. I would book this hotel again but would book twin-bed room for two to stay.

The hotel is a short 1km walk from the local train station. The onsen uses natural volcanic spring water and is of very high quality. There is a private onsen available if you ask for the key, however the public bath was empty every time I visted. The room was large, clean, and very relaxing. The dinner was fancy, but had mild flavours. It was not our favourite meal. I was still hungry afterwards, but there was no more food available. There was free alcohol from 9pm to 10pm, but it was of poor quality. The staff were always very kind and helpful.

The hotel was right next to the Odawara JR Station, I could walk to the station from the 3/F of the hotel building conveniently ! The 3/F was the restaurant floor with over 20 choices ! Most interestingly, they were operating in an ancient Japanese complex (looking like the Edo Period). I will for sure go back to this hotel the next time I visit Odawara. However, the single room was very small, but acceptable for one person according to the Japan standard. Still, I hope that the bath room could be a little bigger. It was so small that the basin went half into the bath tub !

DDannNestled along the serene shores of Manazuru Port, this quaint Japanese-style inn exudes warmth and tradition at every turn. Run by a charming old lady whose hospitality transcends generations, the inn offers a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural tapestry. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a sense of tranquility. The tatami-matted rooms, though old, are meticulously clean, each carrying a tale of bygone eras. The gentle aroma of freshly brewed tea wafts through the air, inviting you to unwind and savor the moment. What truly sets this inn apart is its breathtaking view of Manazuru Port and the expansive sea beyond. Whether you're enjoying a traditional Japanese breakfast or simply basking in the afternoon sun on the veranda, the vista never fails to mesmerize. The rhythmic dance of fishing boats against the backdrop of rolling waves is a sight to behold. But it's the innkeeper's unwavering dedication to her guests that leaves the most lasting impression. With a genuine smile and a kind word, she ensures that every visitor feels like family. Her attention to detail and personalized care elevate the stay from ordinary to extraordinary. For those seeking solace in the embrace of Japan's timeless charm, this hidden gem on the shores of Manazuru is a haven like no other. Embrace the tranquility, savor the hospitality, and let the spirit of Japan wash over you in waves of serenity.

OOhbrainsNot the easiest place to find, nestle between the river and the mountain we had the most amazing experience. Friendly staff that speaks English with the most amazing breakfast and dinner. Not the cheapest hotel but you are paying for the experience and I would definitely recommend you try this hotel out. Our room had its own private hot spring and we were more then impressed with the level of detail and service that the owner(s) put into running of this inn / hotel.

BBolanghaoxiaoxiannvThe hot spring hotel is very beautiful, and it feels very old when you walk inside. The public areas are carefully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are private hot springs that can be booked, and there are not many people in the public hot springs. You can directly book a hot spring before breakfast. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. There is a young lady who speaks super fluent English. Communication is barrier-free, and every dish is very clear. The only drawback is that the location of the hotel is not very convenient if you don't have a private car. You need to call to pick up the station. If you don't have a mobile phone number, you can contact by email, but you can't guarantee timely contact... If you drop off at the check-out time, you can only be sent to Sheguye to take the bus, but there are not many buses, and they are not very punctual, so you may have to wait for a long time. Except for the inconvenient transportation, other experiences are great!

33LittlePigsI would have given a 5 star rating for service but got a very bad experience with this one staff call Yashiro (she wasn’t wearing a name tag but told us this name after we asked a few times for her name). We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights, for 6 people. On the second evening when we return to the rooms, we found out that our room wasn’t cleaned. Later found out that we need to put the magnet tag outside of the door if we need cleaning. Which is fine and we were not complaining about this. But we needed new towels. We called the reception separately and got hanged up! The receptionist said a bunch of “maybe” English or mixed with Japanese, then hang up. I called again and explained we needed new towels, she said “no towels!” Then hang up. I called again, same answer, then hang up. We then go down to the lobby, this same girl looked annoyed and said NO TOWELS! Her level of service was just very bad and unacceptable! It was only until when we asked for her name, she acted she didn’t understand English. Then I spoke in Japanese asking for her name. Then her attitude changed. Gave us 3 towels. I said we needed 6 for 6 people. Then she said no again! I said it is ridiculous if the hotel only has 4 clean towels! And I will write my experience on my booking platform. Then she finally took us to our floor and said there are many towels there. To be fair, all other staff was very friendly, including the boy who checked us in and the girl called Monya who checked us out and helped us with delivering the luggages to our next hotel. I don’t need compensation from this hotel as I will not be returning to this hotel again because of this one bad staff but I surely hope management can give her better training on how to handle simple customer requests with a right attitude.

TTimothyIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

In addition, there was a 7-11 downstairs, which was very convenient. I will stay there again or recommend to my friends.
