Unfortunately, during my second stay I was upgraded to room 301, which is large and overlooks the swimming pool, but it needs maintenance, especially the bathroom, which needs immediate maintenance. It is a very noisy room, as you can hear the sounds of the elevator and the water pump. The furniture is luxurious, but old and needs to be upgraded. The location is excellent, overlooking the port, but the entrance to the hotel is on a potholed street. The staff is friendly and respectful.
This youth travel is a rare good youth travel on the Trip.com platform, and there should be more youth travel of this specification.

The fly in the ointment is that there is a WF room, but it is very unstable, and then the WF will close at 10 o'clock in the evening to 8 o'clock in the morning, which is very bad.
And yesterday, I told the proprietress that I would go to the boat this morning and pack breakfast in advance. But when I found the proprietress in the morning, she was not happy! I chatted with her yesterday's translator, and she made it to me reluctantly. As a result, the simple breakfast should have made me wait outside for more than 40 minutes! I think this dishonest attitude towards customers is very hurtful. Although I finally had a little breakfast, the very small amount and extremely bad attitude made me not want to recommend it to anyone.
Utterly enchanting- from our 5am arrival until our departure 3 days later we were looked after so incredibly well. The hotel organised our airport pickup and opened up with a gentle tap (you may need help to find it as it’s in the narrow streets of old Stonetown). The front of house was superb and Peter took care of us. The hotel has so much atmosphere, full of antiques and lush vegetation. Breakfast is in the roof balcony. Excursions can be organised. I had read a few unpleasant reviews but I can’t think why, cleanliness was first class and the hospitality was outstanding. I hope you are lucky enough to find a room - we stayed 3 nights it was so good.
Loved this place, everything was great, food, drinks, pool, gym.. baggage storage after check out. Wish i had more time.. and the aircon after 3 weeks without any was the icing on top of the cake.. bed was really comfortable. They allowed an early check in too.. i have absolutely nothing bad to say 👌 staff really friendly and polite as well
Breakfast is very suitable for Chinese taste, pancakes and yogurt are very good. Lived in a big bed with sea view, no extra bed, no space. The bathroom and terrace are amazing. Very tasteful hotel. The boss personally helped move things and it felt good. No parking lot, suitable for children, good location
The hotel really a five star you have a big room not like standard hotel rooms i enjoyed the views and the pool also a great place for family since theres kids activities in the hotel
The bed sheets are too bad, they should be acrylic or chemical fiber, they are pilling. The hotel staff is very nice, the front desk efficiency needs to be improved, the hotel location is good, there are many hotels nearby, if you are not in a hurry, you can go to the nearby to find one. It is not worth the price, it can't be compared with the hotels in the north.

Room I signed when I check in and Room I really received was different. They changed the room without notice. I asked why they said it's same room inside. But it was totally different. Changed room has no privacy at all. We have to close the window during the stay.
And I asked for late check out when I check in. They told me to check last day in the morning. In last day, I asked again for 2hrs late check out. They refused my request even didn't check the system. Just say NO. I am very disappointed with their attitude. And when I checked the site there were plenty room left.
As everyone knows Zanzibar is the holiday place. Most of 5 star hotels in holiday place, they run check out time very flexible due to flight time. No deserve to have 5 stars in customer service.
The hotel is excellent, luxurious ancient building. The room is oversized and richly decorated in classical style. The location is good and it is one of the landmark hotels in Stone Town. The building is beautiful and the restaurant is the best with all the facilities.
The hygiene is very average. The bed feels unwashed. There are unknown hairs on the sheets. If you stay here, it is recommended to bring a disposable three-piece suit. You have to bring your own towels. They only provide a bed and a place to shower. There are a lot of flies in the dining area, and the beach behind is full of garbage and seaweed.
The service is very good, whether it is the front desk or the restaurant staff. The eggs for breakfast are not bad, and there are a few kittens.

AAnonymous UserI have never stayed in a hotel where the service and experience progressively got worse each day. Everything just started going downhill during our second day you wake up in the morning and the first thing that happens is you are asked about joining one of the tours and offer through the hotel and they do that every chance they get and the moment they find out that you have a booking For a tour with another company and not through them, they will just little snide comments and make you regret your decisions. The second thing was the food you had to order lunch hours before and when you ordered for specific time you get to the restaurant you still have to wait at least another 30 minutes to get it, I ordered calamari on one of those days for eight and only got four small pieces of calamari and that was it just for small pieces of calamari and fried plantain so that was basically two dollars per calamari.
There was an element of feeling unsafe because one of the mornings as I was walking up to breakfast there was a strange man just walking around and when I get to breakfast, one of the staff members there tells me that there’s a man who has been asking about me and looking for me and as I turned there, that man is standing right there and my question was, how are you letting this man on the premises, and what if you wanted to come to me and you guys are letting him walk around this entire place because I ran into him on the other side of the hotel so there was that as well which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and uneasy and unsafe.
They didn’t spray any mosquito spray as it’s common in the area to in and spray the room with mosquito spray at the end of each evening they only did that first night and we had to keep them and each time it was met with just a sigh of inconvenience like we were inconveniencing them getting there difficult worth it and I think that is the one thing I can attest to being the better part of this entire establishment, but that aside the services awful. You will go hungry, we told the bar open a specific time but it wouldn’t open. Also they change their rules at one day. It’s OK to have a meal by the bar closer to the beach the next day you can’t do that but then you’ll see them. Send them food down for specific people so that was also extremely offputting, I can safely say I will never set foot in that place ever again.

ZZjyanziThe location is right in the city, by the sea. The seafood pier, square barbecue, and night market are all within a few minutes' walk. The room is exquisite and tidy, the decoration style is very unique, and it is beautiful for taking pictures. They also provide takeaway bath towels for swimming, and the rattan basket is very suitable for taking pictures. The hotel breakfast must be mentioned. All the Western food is freshly baked and cooked. It is more delicious than the Western restaurant. The hot Western food finally doesn't feel so cold. I love it.
