Min malistI love this place so much that a part of me wants to gatekeep this hidden gem. Fanzhu梵住 is a beautifully curated boutique hotel that delivers outstanding hospitality. I initially booked a 5-day stay but loved it so much that I extended for an extra day, willingly sacrificing my next destination.
I was initially worried the hotel might be a ”pretty façade.” Fortunately, Fanzhu met all my needs of functionality and comfort (Breakfast, Air Conditioning, an excellent shower, free self-service laundry, an ideal location).
The property is far from perfection, but it overcompensates with simple, heartfelt sincerity. You can feel the tremendous thought and effort poured into this place to make guests feel comfortable.
✨ Highlights, Who Will Love This Place:
✅#English-Speaking Travellers: For foreigners unfamiliar with China, it is extremely helpful that the owner is fluent in English.
✅#Design & Aesthetics: Warm & modern. The property exudes zen-like comfort with charming decors. It has a gorgeous yard, with swimming pool, and ample outdoor seatings.
✅#Remote workers: I didn’t plan to work on this trip, but I could see myself working there remotely. If you come from the city where every building looks like a boxy Lego piece, you will deeply appreciate this place.
✅#Personalized Service: Kudos to the young lady boss! In a place like Wanfenglin where the location pins and 导航 can be vague to foreigners, sh took the time to understand my itinerary, how I planned my routes around Wanfenglin. She gave recommendations, and helped me check my “Destination” input on car hiring app.
Airport and railway station pickups can also be arranged easily too.
✅#Immaculate Rooms: THE BED! Oh my, the bed! The linens, pillows, and towels are all premium quality. Even the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash feel luxurious. The bed is so comfortable that I would return just for a sleep-in holiday. Ok I know I’m mentioning the bed twice but it’s worth mentioning thrice. Extra points from me that the rooms are non-smoking.
✅#Location: Before arriving, I read a review describing this place as ”a piece of tranquillity close to the action”. Now I get it. It sits as an independent building on a peaceful road/hill(?), yet it is a short, easy walk to the Bagua fields and Zhong Nahui, where you can find idyllic cafes, little shops, and children playing in the fields.
✅#Breakfast: Delicious local-flavoured noodles! They also offer more conservative standards like toasts, eggs, and coffee. Oh, the hotel has an ice machine! Ooooohh so sexy in the hot weather (apparently ice cubes are rare in Wanfenglin).
✅#The Resident Pets: As a pet lover who willingly pays to visit cat cafes, having resident dog and cats sealed the deal for me.
✅#BONUS TIP: The Rooftop Night Sky. Unassuming and rugged at first glance, I was initially unimpressed. But I heard good reviews from others, so I gave it another go, and am thankful I did!
Stay awhile, allow your eyes some time to adjust in the darkness, and you would see the sky completely transforms.
On my last night, I saw a shooting star! I kid you not. It was an absolutely unbelievable, unforgettable moment. Incredibly awesome!
⚠️ Considerations Before You Book (Who should avoid):
- If you love standard chain hotels. Fanzhu is intimate enough to offer personalized service. But I can imagine some of my more pampered friends who prefer international breakfast buffet spread would struggle to settle for this simplicity. Some things are just not realistic expectations off a boutique.
- Mobility needs: There is no elevator. They would graciously carry your suitcases. However, elderly may want to enquire about ground-floor room.
- In the midst of nature: If you have zero tolerance for insects, you may want to skip staying in Wanfenglin. It is a humid, lush environment surrounded by fields and trees. Personally, with a body spray of insect repellent, I wasn't bothered at all.
- Pet allergies: If you hate pets (but why would you? :( w

Guest UserExtremely satisfied! Highly recommended! The hotel's facilities and services are top-notch, maintaining Accor's high standards. I want to particularly highlight the hotel's location, which is perfect for travelers with kids and without a rental car. Qingyun Market is a 10-minute walk away, and the train station is also a 10-minute walk. Craving sour soup beef? You don't even need to leave the hotel! The hotel is directly connected to a commercial building, a 2-minute walk will take you to 'Guichef,' which is incredibly delicious! The hotel also has a pet-themed restaurant that is interactive, friendly, and clean. The kids absolutely loved it! I've attached a picture of the parrot explaining things at the pet-themed restaurant – see if you can spot the highlights 😂

Guest UserThis was my second stay at Guihang, and even though the hotel is a bit older, I still feel the quality is consistently good. It's conveniently located close to Jiaxiu Tower and Qingyun Market. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the bedding and pillows are quite comfortable.

ZulfiqarThe hotel's hardware is excellent, but its service and management get a zero. We checked in after 4 PM, and the room wasn't even ready yet. After it was finally cleaned, I walked in to find the previous guest's socks still sitting on the bedside table, as shown in picture one. It made me seriously doubt if they even cleaned it properly.
The hotel's swimming pool is an Instagram hotspot, but because it's outsourced, the actual experience was a zero. There are no lockers! The entire changing room is as small as shown in picture two – that's it! The floor was covered in water and trash, and no one was cleaning it. There were no towels unless you paid 10 yuan for a disposable one, and no slippers unless you paid another 12 yuan.
The breakfast was terrible, with very few options and no local specialties. Compared to other state guesthouses like the Wuxi Taihu Hotel, Nanjing Dongjiao Guesthouse, or Wuhan Donghu Hotel, the breakfast here was basically on par with a county government guesthouse. All in all, it's absolutely not worth the price. Booking the Zhijin Hotel was definitely the biggest regret of my Guizhou trip.

Anonymous UserThis internet-famous guesthouse truly lives up to its reputation, with a total of 24 rooms. The biggest drawback is the number of stairs and the lack of an elevator, but everything else is excellent!
Location: It's situated next to the Balinghe Bridge in Guanling, about a 15-20 minute drive from the main Huangguoshu scenic area.
Ambiance: It's a popular guesthouse located in a small, charming village. The air is filled with the scent of mugwort. The 4th-floor observation deck is perfect for watching both sunsets and sunrises. You'll hear roosters crowing in the morning.
Facilities: Be prepared to climb stairs, as the highest floor is the 4th. There is a dedicated luggage elevator for your bags. The rooms are spacious, the bedding is comfortable, and the air conditioning is powerful but a bit noisy (earplugs are provided by the hotel). There's a self-service laundry room with two washing machines and two dryers, along with laundry pods.
Service: The butler-style service is prompt and friendly. I really appreciated the small farewell gift upon check-out.
Cleanliness: Very good.
Restaurant: They offer a buffet breakfast, à la carte lunch, and dinner requires advance ordering and reservation, with a notification when it's ready. The cocktails at the bar are excellent.

PEABYOLII stayed at the State Guesthouse for two nights. The lobby was grand, and the room was clean, tidy, and well-equipped. However, I absolutely, absolutely do not recommend swimming in the pool! The water in the pool was murky, and there were so many children soaking in it that they completely packed the lanes. There was no coach or lifeguard to supervise, so it was impossible to swim. Perhaps this pool is purely for kids to play in, which is a shame. Also, at night, you can hear the highway and train sounds, so if you're a light sleeper or have trouble falling asleep, remember to bring earplugs.

Guest UserThis is a very comfortable and stylish guesthouse. The room window offers a view of the rolling mountains. The two young staff members at the front desk, both surnamed Dai, were very friendly and helpful, happy to assist us with any problems and arrange our itinerary. They arranged for us to rent electric scooters and kindly introduced us to local attractions and restaurants. They even helped us find a place to visit Huangguoshu Waterfall. One of the youngest staff members, who wasn't wearing glasses, even taught me how to do tie-dye. The breakfast was also plentiful and delicious; every morning, the chef, Xiao Wu, would kindly ask me what I wanted to eat. The room was very comfortable, very clean, and beautifully decorated, especially the tie-dye decorations and curtains. Everyone's service was excellent. Highly recommended.
Highly recommended this guesthouse. The room has magnificent view of Wangfenglin range of mountain, it is tastefully designed, clean and comfortable room. The front desk (both Xiao Dai) are very helpful, helping us arranging our trip, transportation etc. it is also very convenient to visit other attraction area and shops and restaurants. The breakfast is also very delicious, every morning the chef Xiao Wu will greet me and ask me what would i like and bring me the breakfast, you can have your breakfast at the beautiful dining area at the back or the veranda in the garden.

Yang121314The hotel is located halfway up the mountain, accessible through the village, making it quieter than other guesthouses in the village. The rooms aren't very big, but the amenities and facilities are very comfortable. The heated clothesline is a thoughtful touch for this season. The cloth slippers provided by all Fengxi guesthouses are incredibly comfortable, and the felt tote bag is very practical for storing odds and ends in the car during long trips!

XiaoduiqingshanThis hotel is excellent! It's very close to the attractions, and the service is great. It's a new hotel with good facilities. I specifically chose this one because it's right next to the scenic area and they offer a VIP shuttle service to the Huangguoshu Falls entrance, which is super convenient. All the staff members are very friendly. The front desk attendant who checked us in was lovely, and especially on the day of check-out, we needed to get to the First Tourist Center. We had used the VIP shuttle service on previous days, but when I called to request it for check-out, the car wasn't dispatched. I'm not sure why it worked fine the two days before but not on the last day. I explained the situation to the front desk, and a young man there, after understanding our predicament, immediately consulted with his supervisor and arranged for the hotel's own car to take us to the First Tourist Center (since I was traveling with my parents and it would have been difficult with luggage). I particularly want to thank the staff member named Tian Di; his attitude was excellent, and he was able to help us solve an unexpected problem, showing great initiative. Both hardware and software are crucial for a good hotel, and Manxin Mansion is fantastic. I'll definitely stay here again if I have the chance!

Guest UserBijin Sky Homestay is an excellent choice for a stay in the Dong villages.
The service and reception here are outstanding. They offer all-inclusive round-trip transfers and proactively assist with itinerary planning. Upon arrival, they provide a detailed guide for exploring all the scenic spots like the terraced fields, drum towers, and wind-and-rain bridges, making your trip completely stress-free. The wooden homestay features floor-to-ceiling windows with direct views of the entire Dong village's stilted houses and mountain scenery. The rooms are quiet and comfortable, and the Yao medicinal bath is incredibly relaxing. Every evening, the homestay arranges authentic Dong Grand Song performances, offering an immersive cultural experience.
The local buffet breakfast is delicious and authentic, and upon departure, they even give you a special souvenir. The service is meticulous and thoughtful. Opening the window reveals a picturesque Dong village landscape. It's definitely worth revisiting.
